BP Empire - Weird voice sample, but nice sounds and progression. Tasty Mushroom - the melody and basslines are much tastier than voice sample! P.G.M. - This track has some of the nicest rhythms, as well as colorful melodies 10 of 10 BOOM

Guest ripple[at]bespin[dot]org
Infected Mushroom - BP Empire Artist: Infected Mushroom Title: BP Empire Label: BNE Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'48" Never Ever Land 02. 07'17" Unbalanced (Baby Killer Rmx) 03. 07'40" Spaniard 04. 07'38" BP Empire 05. 06'57" Funchameleon 06. 06'58" Tasty Mushroom 07. 07'41" Noise Maker 08. 07'23" PGM 09. 10'23" Dancing With Kadafi Review: More of the deranged Infected Mushroom sound I always love dancing to Infected Mushroom at a party, but this is something that is also fun to listen to. All the songs have a neat atmospheric feeling. Hooray for reverbs? I really like the sound of this album! The production quality is nicer than The Gathering or Classical Mushroom. High quality all the way through. And there are a lot of killer grooves here! There are also some extremely odd parts to some of the songs, and they really remind me of a dying cow sometimes. Weird off-beat synth lines as the song is winding down, or out-of-tune sounding synths. And of course some weak sounding voice samples... but some nifty ones as well - just what you've come to expect from these guys. Favorite tracks: Spaniard - oh so groovy, yum. BP Empire - Weird voice sample, but nice sounds and progression. Tasty Mushroom - the melody and basslines are much tastier than voice sample! P.G.M. - This track has some of the nicest rhythms, as well as colorful melodies 9 of

Guest Astyanax
The cover really sux, but what the hell! It's the music that counts! And again these Infected guys managed to make their new album sound better than the previous one! So again 10/
mars
Never Ever Land is quite cool, though it kicks. Its of the style i call casual psy: not overloaded with sounds, simple, but with psy sounds after a big break. Unbalanced is a killer: it kicks, catches you, it's various, has part in which you can breathe, lots of psy soundz everywhere. This is psychedelia! At a moment there is the melody of the original BabyKiller, and it gives you a chilly break before it restarts and gives you 2 full minutes of psychedelia. yeah! Spaniard is the best track of the album to my mind: it's very simple but has a part with powerful distorsions. It repeats 3 times in the track and sets you on "dance now" mode! There are strange voices, like in th previous track, and several little breaks which changes the curse of the melody. the last third is the best part and ends abruptly on those wicked distorsions. BPEmpire is very hard. Expect no compromise, this is a very good track too, full of little changes that makes you dont get tired of it. Funkamillion is also very good: a first part which loks like real psytrance, a second part made up with psychedelic funk, then a very chilly part with piano that ends on distorted sounds & the recalling of a previous part. good. NoiseMaker may be a try to make a more minimal track. It's ok but it shows no surprise. TastyMushroom could have been very good but its too repetitive. There is the psychedelic madness and it's effective in parties but you get tired very soon of this track at home... PGM is another killer with chants, psysounds, a dreamy part (still nothing surprising), and in the middle there is a climax that leads to a very very very uplifting melody with psychedelia everywhere. it's like a parenthesis. Not many groups know how to produce such a track. The end is made of madness and landing... Dancing with Cadafi is a track with lots of different themes. Its not really ambient, its just a lot of madness from Erez and Amit. the problem is that it looks like a videogame song in some parts, and like the production of true psytrance masters in other parts. thats strange. I've listened to the album at least 20 times now and in my opinion: The quality of the sound is impressive. I think it's still impossible to compare any album of the Infected with another. One regret: it seems to have been composed in a hurry. It rules because it delivers us many new ideas. Yes, it seems the inspiration is there but....there is the very little thing missing that makes i dont mark it less than the others 9/10. Please compete this album with the EP Roll us a Giant which is a killer.

max
Not a bad album, but a bit disappointing for me. Lot of tracks (Noise maker, PGM, BP Empire, Tasty Mushroom, Funkamillion) are "empty". There's no tracks in this album that can reach a "Mush Mushi" or a "Return Of The Shadow".
Guest iNFiNiTi500
I agree with Max here, this album is okay but no patch on the Gathering or Classical since it sounds tired and uninspired i.e. it just misses the edge where IM seemed to have a patent on. Whereas the previous albums got better after each listen, only 3 tracks on BP Empire have strong replay value namely Never Everland, Spaniard and Dancing with Kadafi. The others are shallow fillers and lack any magic touch. Why they completely dropped the acoustic guitar and piano sound which worked so well in the classic BustAMove and replaced it with a standard 4/4 no-thrills trance formula is beyond me. And why-o-why did the full of fresh ideas track Roll-us-a-Giant ended up as a B-side. That one would have been a highlight with Dancing with Kadafi here which is also full of innovation and melodic breaks. BP empire is more evidence that the Isratrance scene is degrading (commercialism, identity crisis) cause if the mushies can't feed the heads of psytrance lovers properly, who in Israel can? 6/10. Guest Phaeton
i think it's better than classical mushroom, but not as good as the gathering ... it is not a dancefloor oriented album, like i've heard some say ... it is again pretty different from the classic acidic goa sound, with lots of strings, ahh-voices, flutes and bells.. which is a good thing i think! strangely enough, some of the tracks even made me think of artists like orbital, so i think this album is very accessible to people who are not into psytrance too .. bad things about the album are : the cover !!! it's shit ugly, they should've used tzahi's cover which was really beautiful ! and i still can't be bothered listening to the 'bp empire' title track, imho they should've put 'roll us a giant' on the album instead anyway for now my favourite tracks are 'never ever land', 'spaniard' and 'funkamillion' ... 8.5/

Guest OA
Why do people keep comparing to the Gathering and Classical mushroom. It stupid to do that. This album rocks. I love it . Funchamealion and Tasty Mushroom are favs. 10/10.
Guest been there, done that, heard tha
VERY disapointed! I thought the first IF album was a rip-off, and I cant stand it's immatureness... The second album (Classical Mushroom) is quite "commercial" too, but a whole lot better IMHO. I dont like this album, I have listened to this album once sofar. Will try it again later. Many of the melodies seems to be ripped off from commerical artists and stuff like that. Roll Us A Giant on the EP is MUCH better than all the tracks on this CD.. Never Ever Land starts out like the most fucking commerical track ever heard on a psy-cd. Some of the melodies in Spaniard is ripped off (dont remember from what song though). FUNKAMILLION is the lamest track on this cd, first of all The Delta used "Twilight Zone"-melodies two years ago in their song "Thing"... to even include a track on this cd with that melody is a shame... Noise Maker is also a lame track, the intro sounds like some house song from the 80's or something. 6.5/10 for this Infected one. Most of the tracks seems lame for some reason, but sometimes they are really good also(!). I expected lot's more from IM after Classical Mushroom (btw, this cd is absolutely not for the dancefloor... Classical Mushroom wasn't for the dancefloor either). Some songs feels too simple and commercial for my taste. It think they could release it on SONY without any problems. Guest jsb
More infected are releasing new stuff more there're bad. They're always regressing in their music quality. The first album was a materpiece, the second, average and too much acoustic (not enough twisting and psychedelic), and this is the minimal/commercial ultimate release. Guest o!l!d!
the production qualiti could got beter , the bits just does'nt do it like the 1st cd the idea's are great but too many changes in one track a track simply dont go from a happy melody too sad melody afetr the brake . its like they think they invented a new style (well) they are the best band in the world !!!(right) not good/
Guest Sun-Wizard
it's not good as the other album the people here say it rocks just because its infected thats what im thinking right now

Guest shivas[at]isratrance[dot]com
i like only 2 tracks: unbalanced (baby killer remix) good old infected with improved remic.. and dancing with kadafi...i like stories;) the rest well..nothing new..style is style but for me it's empty little bit..but what is for sure that all the tracks would always work at the parties! Guest Goa Spirit
Ok. i have heard this over and over again. Thinking it will growe on me. Its not bad, but it is missing that freshness... that crazy im style that i liked so much in their earlier albums... i wouldn't say its bad, but i am not blown away.. again too much expectation i guess. and dare i mention... sounds a bit like psy-techno. But that is my opinion and opinions are after all opinions, so buy if you like,, don't if you do not like. i'll give it a couple more listens.. so far only spaniard, tasty mushrrom and the last track (to a certain extent) have been to my liking...
