Guest Ubik
Eon Project - Brain Filter Artist: Eon Project Title: Brain Filter Label: Transient Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 08'26" Intra Neutral Power (Evolution Mix) 02. 06'31" Re-Struct (Electrodes Mix) 03. 04'35" Frozen (Minimal Life Activity Mix) 04. 04'49" Bio-Virtual (Biological Mix Part 1) 05. 07'28" Muta-gen (Thermoplasmic Mix) 06. 05'58" Poison Mind (Terminal State Mix) 07. 05'28" Fear = Protein (Molecular-Incubation Mix) 08. 06'56" Hydro-Sphere (Organic Life Form Mix) 09. 06'34" Re-Struct (Reconstructed And Remixed By Spies) Review: This is a side-project of Krys Kilven, half of UX, but doesn't sound like UX at all ! This album has heavy industrial influences, like Front Line Assembly, but without lyrics. This is very hard, aggressive and dark all the way with harsh beats and industrial sounds, but I like this a lot, especially Muta-gen, Poison Mind, Intra Neural Power, Re-struct, Frozen. Re-Struct (spies rmx) is also pretty nice, more chilled. By the way, why all those "something mix" ? Are there supposed to be original songs somewhere ? The drawback is that the length is only 57 minutes, and tracks 6 and 7 are ok, but more ambience than real songs, since there's no beat in these. So overall I think 7/10 is fair. Anybody knows other albums that sounds like that, beside real industrial (I've trouble with the singing...)
mars
that's not psytrance. there's a lot of work ok, and that 'sounds' like UX stuff, but this is only breakbeat. 3/10.
Guest Kindgok
Yeah, EON Project has a lot of varied beat structures, but if anything that makes Krys Klyven's material more interesting to listen to than your basic psy track. The stuff is soooo layered. // Btw, Ubik, a lot of Front Line Assembly's newer material (side projects included) is instrumental. Take the "Cryogenic Studios" compilations for instance. sneila
It's clear who contributed what to UX project: Slide's Unstable is plain harsh dark psychedelia, while EON Project is very rhythmic, layered and atmospheric music. This album holds my interest from start to finish, something that Unstable could never do. I like the industrial sounds mixed with trance here. Chris Kylven has a lot of diversity in his music. I think he's underrated. He's the reason there is some soul in the Ultimate Experience album. 8/10 from me.
Trance2MoveU
Artist: Eon Project Title: Brain Filter Label: Transient Records Date: September, 1998 01. 08'26" Intra Neutral Power (Evolution Mix)02. 06'31" Re-Struct (Electrodes Mix)03. 04'35" Frozen (Minimal Life Activity Mix)04. 04'49" Bio-Virtual (Biological Mix Part 1)05. 07'28" Muta-gen (Thermoplasmic Mix)06. 05'58" Poison Mind (Terminal State Mix)07. 05'28" Fear = Protein (Molecular-Incubation Mix)08. 06'56" Hydro-Sphere (Organic Life Form Mix)09. 06'34" Re-Struct (Reconstructed And Remixed By Spies) With the release of the Faithealers album by Neogoa I thought I'd take a look at an earlier side project of Kris Kylven. Their one and only album borrows heavily from industrial acts like Noise Unit and Front Line Assembly. The album is a mish mosh of industrial music with danceable rhythms as well as some atmospheric ambient "mood music." Tracks like Re-struct flirt with goa, and the whole album tells the tale of a dystopian future. It's cold and mechanical and great for a listen when you need to get away from the four on the floor of psytrance yet still pine for some darkness. It's cheap as balls on Discogs, so this would be an easy way to get a great album.
masen023
This is a brilliant album. I took me some listening to finallyy appreciate it. Maybe because i'm moving away the so-called 'Newschool goa' (not Oldschool 93-97 of course) And am now more into Black/deathmetal/industrial music... like Mayhem, Shining, Marduk... DON'T miss out their performance at ZNA Festival 2017 (Alongside with SYB Unity Nettwerk Exp) Finally i will get my UX,SYB & Eon cd's signed!! See you at ZNA friends
