Guest Kreth
V/A - Celtic Records Artist: Various Title: Celtic Records Label: Celtic Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. Shakta And Moonweed : Micronesia 02. Tristan And Tom : Syncotron 03. Prana : Message To Eastedge (Rmx) 04. Wicked Wasp : Insect-A-Traction 05. Lunar Asylum : Bubble 06. Moonweed : Haardvark 07. K-90 : Genesis 08. Prana : Message To Eastedge 09. Paola And Arriella : Illusions Of Infinity (Rmx) 10. Sphere : Eastern Eclipse Review: This is one of the lesser known 10/10 releases from the early days. Celtic was a small label that did some odd ten vinyl releases, this one comp and then faded somewhere into the hazy oblivion of time. All the tracks are sure winners, and the things come as strong and powerful as they did back in these times. Track three is remixed by everybody's favourite Nick Barber, and is 100% lovely oldstyle Doof and one of his most uplifting & best tracks ever. As it happens, Micronesia is also probably the best track I've ever heard from Shakta- I'm not usually a huge fan of his tracks- so this comp is an absolute must for fans of either of the both. Simon P isn't credited for track four but is clearly behind it (along with Sid Shanti & Andre) as is correctly stated on the comp Journeys Into Trance (DCI 1998) where the track is released as "Shanti Druid - Insectattraction". Whatever, the track is anyway a hugely emotional & massive example of the golden days of one of the scene's most loved artist. The sound of the tracks on this comp is often very hard, and this evolution culminates in K-90's "Genesis", which is 100% pure hard acid trance that would be very out of place on pretty much any other goa comp in 1996, but fits in very well with with the other harder tracks on this comp like "Bubble" and "Haardvark". The last two tracks bring the comp down in more peaceful atmospheres, and altough Blue Peter's remix of "Illusions of Infinity" is a bit average, Sphere's "Eastern Eclipse" is a sure winner with beautiful female voices, melodies and gripping acid all over and the transition at the halfway of the track makes me smile every time I hear it Sadly this might be very hard to find anymore, but for everybody who's into oldschool sound this is definitely worth hunting for seriously. Guest Zoltar
My favorite compilation... The Doof remix is delicious but I don't really like "Illusions of Infinity". Best tracks: 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6! I agree with Kreth and give 10/10... For old-timers only. Unfortunately it's a rare item, I wish you luck to find it!
Anoebis
If you are into Acidic 303 trance, this must be your pick! The Moonweed tracksmust be my favourites so nu-energy like passages in it, but the 303's are so perfect I could listen to it forever! On the track made with Shakta the melody at the end is so perfect also... A perfect mix between those 2 artists! Other good tracks; Prana and Lunar Asylum 8/
