Guest Stormbringer
Amphiptere - Chemicalshake / Minotauro Artist: Amphiptere Title: Chemicalshake / Minotauro Label: Interzone Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Chemicalshake 02. Minotauro Review: The third release from the Swiss label Interzone doesn´t really follow in the same footsteps as the two previous releases. "Chemicalshake" from the A-side may sound very Swiss indeed with its slow monotonous dry beat and minimal sounds but I find it both harder and darker than the typical Swiss release. Those of you that don´t agree with me may change your mind when we flip the records to play the B-side. "Minotauro" is a very aggressive track with deep bass and some dark samples to spice things up. This is the kind of track that gets harder and harder for every second towards the end, just as I like it. Similar recent releases may be the Tetraktys EP on Submachine and the Dark Nebula EP released on Implant. If you hear this at a paty the dj is probably trying to scare you rather than make you smile! Amphiptere = Tom Patt and Andrea Frattari. I´ve never heard of them before but I´m really interested to hear something more after I´ve heard this ep. My guess is that this is one of their first releases, if not the very first?
Guest Mescalinium
This is a solid release, not quite as good as their second one, the Paste EP. Chemicalshake is a little too monotonic; not enough progression for my taste. Minotauro's the better track here, I think. Nice heavy percussive sounds. If you like it dark and minimal (I know I do! go for it. 6/10.
