Insejn
V/A - Chronika 1 Artist: Various Title: Chronika 1 Label: Boshke Beats Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Midi Miliz : XV 02. The Delta : Hero FX (Part 1) 03. Boo.Reka : Psychodelichesky 04. Authentik : Vampires 05. Midi Miliz : No Exit 06. Spiralkinder : Wide Screen 07. Fuzzion : Out Of Order 08. Neser DNA : Stainless Steel 09. Metalogic : Mutual Exclusion Review: Holy shit. This is some bad stuff! Ultra-minimal music. Totally uninteresting tracks. Same stuff over and over again. Just when I though I'd heard the most minimal there is, this comp shows otherwise. I've heard better tracks from both The Delta and Midi Miliz. Authentik do what they use to do. The rest...oh man. I can't go on. Sorry. This one is for minimal diggers only. Final Verdict: 3/
Guest Stormbringer
Well... this is on the border to techno and you don´t really know if Boshke Beats wants to be a techno-label or a trance-label, but my guess is that they don´t care what people call their music or what label they put on it. This is hard rhythmical music, perhaps more suitable for the warehouse than the forest, but it´s still good. Tracks 1,2,4 and 5 are allready released on Boshke Beats vinyls 001-004 and that makes me wonder why I should get this? I allready own those records! Reviews of those vinyls are up soon I hope. 001 and 002 are allready atleast! For those who don´t know yet... Neser DNA = Michael Andresen = 12 Moons/Healer. Ha ha! This doesn´t sound like anything he´s released before. It´s really slow (126 bpm?) and not that warm and friendly, I can tell you that! freak51
This is heavy, intense stuff. The craftsmanship lives up to what you'd expect from the names on here. Obviously, if you're into melodic stuff, you won't like it. It's very minimal and dirge-like in most places. Still, this is my kind of thing and it mixes exquisitely. 9/10 from me. Guest Ikurtev
I have waited for this compilation since I first saw the list of artists involved on the Boshke Beats web site some time in February or March. It was delayed several times and it finally came out in the beginning of September. To let you know where I am coming from, I have been a big Midimiliz/Spirallianz fan for a long time. After a relative quiet on the tech-trance scene this compilation comes and takes your breath away. This is a complete compilation in the real meaning of the word. It begins slower, builds up, and then slows down again with two amazing tracks from Neser DNA and Metalogic. But let me not jump ahead of myself... The first track is a slow and monotonous one from Midimiliz called "XV!" I heard it in my car for the first time, I almost started driving towards my mechanic wondering if there something wrong with my set of wheels. "XV!" doesn't go too far it just prepares you for what's coming. And you don't have to wait too long either. "Hero FX Part 1" by The Delta. A powerful tech-trance track that gets the compilation going for real. Those dark, overwhelming tunes that we have come to expect when Marcus C. Maichel is in the house. My favorite track on this album is "No Exit" by Midimiliz. You knew they were just warming up with the first track, didn't you? Maybe it's just me, but this track sounds like a cross child between their own "Restore My Soul" and MOS' "Bang." And that's a good thing! A pleasant surprise comes from Michael Andersen, under the project name Neser DNA. He has released several interesting tracks on Digital Structures and Spiral Trax as 12 Moons. Well, let me tell you, there's no progressive tunes in this one, not that there is anything wrong with them. This is a slooooow, dark, psychoactive track. It immediately grabs your mind at both ends and starts twisting them in opposite directions until, after 8 minutes, you are emotionally drained. Overall, this is a very interesting compilation if you are tired of the majority of full-on or progressive trance releases that have dominated the scene this spring and summer. And Boshke Beats is not letting up, a Midimiliz album is due in December. Keep up the tremendous work, guys! 10/10!!!

Setsuko
well , Chronika is different ... after a few listens this really started growing on me ... minimal distorted loops and hard mechanical atmospheres ... the new dimension in psycho techno ;-) favourites are 3,4 and 5 ... 8/10 the MidiMiliz album is even another step closer to the edge of mental freakout .
