Saiko Sounds - Sales Tax EU/Denmark!?

Oy!....

So, I keep hearing good things about Saiko Sounds, so I think I'll place an order there... The only thing keeping me from doing it is, that I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay additional sales taxes [25%] if Danish customs intercepts the package...

So, have anyone had any experiences with packages from Saiko Sounds in Hong Kong and additional EU taxes!?

Is it possible to tell Saiko Sounds to spefify a package as a gift or even specify the value lower than it actually is? [ie. I buy $100 of records at SS - but they specify the value on the tax-papers to $25!? Is that possible?]

Thanx in advance guys!

Yeah I guess they can do this, or even mark the package "gift" and leave it free from snooping tax detectives, but it means you wont have insurance on the delivery - lilkewise if you order $100 and they mark it $25, if it gets lost or damaged then all you'll see is $25.

It's a gamble I guess.

Marked as "gift" is not a secure way of sending it when it come to the Danish costums. I have had packages with CD's and vinyl opened up and more that 5 times I had to actually pay for the packages eventhough the packages clearly said "Gift". According to danish tax law a person that recieve a gift over a certant value (can't remember the amount) is obligated to pay import tax.

The only way not to risk being invoiced from out dear costums is to include a letter from Saiko Sounds stating that it's for promotion purpose (and print it on the package too) or as you suggested cut the price in the invoice eventhough I seriously doubt that Saiko Sounds will do that.

Usually when I get a shipment from Saiko Sounds they write on the box "Promotional Items, Value $US 20" or something [and this is for orders worth ten times that]. I've had about five or six orders delivered to me here in Holland and only once have customs asked for tax on it. Just tell them to mark the shipment as a value of about $US 20 and you shouldn't have any problems. If you do, they'll be happy to try something different next time until it gets through ok.
