Guest Dmitri from Ekaterinburg Posted January 9, 2001 Posted January 9, 2001 V/A - Cult 2 Artist: Various Title: Cult 2 Label: Sub Terranean Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. 07'36" Planet BEN : Trippy Future Garden Part 2 02. 08'49" Brain Accent : Anno Domini 03. 06'33" Electric Universe : Online Information 04. 08'05" Astral Projection : Aurora Borealis 05. 07'39" Tristan : Close Zen Counters 06. 08'59" Technossomy : Indiginus 07. 07'21" Manmademan : The Great Seat 08. 06'42" Synchro : Jensonic 09. 04'26" Hara Gobi : Save The Love 10. 11'57" IL : Bababobo Review: Second volume of Cult compilation is variable enough ( on sound criterion ) and representative either : you can find German trance , UK goa , Dutch pumping and even Israeli trance here . Moreover , it contains some really rare staff ( I mean tracks 9 & 10 ) . 1. Planet B.E.N. - Trippy Future Garden Part II . The first track I' ve heard from Ben Wierzoch , one of the pioneers of minimalistic sounding . Well , it sounds trippy enough and lively . 2. Brain Accent - Anno Domini . Hard acid line monotonous sound . In other words , some people would probably like it , others - wouldn' t . 3. Electric Universe - Online Information . The most crazy track I' ve heard from Boris Blenn . It' s made in acid psychedelic style , hypnotizing and making you numbing after continious listening . Keep your head ! 4. Astral Projection - Aurora Borealis . " Northern lights " . An excellent flying composition from masters of the genre . I' d like to reccomend to listen to it during the purple sunset in winter . 5. Tristan - Close Zen Counters . Nice interchange of sounds plus distinctly emphasized melody . Just good . 6. Technossomy - Indiginus . The perception of this one changes after some listenings . It fits well for army runs . 7. Manmademan - The Great Seat . A kind of goa opus with typical straight line and Eastern - like melody . I like the sample most of all . 8. Synchro - Jensonic . What should we expect of Dutch music ? Kicking , of course . A pumping house basement and no overload - dancefloor stomper as a result . 9. Hara Gobi - Save The Love . Short - time ballade dedicated to amour . It sounds cheerfully and dynamically . 10. IL - Bababobo . It stretches to infinity ( if you take into account its length and main conception ) . Slow intro > rhythm > Asian musical instrument > forceful general sound - that's the development of theme , cosmism overall . Logical completion of trip . So , it's even better than the first one . A qualitative selection of tracks and their successful consistent arrangement . The old residents , Jeroen van Garling and Tim Schuldt , distinguished as always ( Synchro and Brain Accent respectively ) . Excellent compilation overall . 8/10 . One of my favourite single CD compilations . Quote
