Anoebis
V/A - Dance Trance And Magic Plants Artist: Various Title: Dance Trance And Magic Plants Label: Transient Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. 08'42" Kundalini : Cow Den 02. 08'44" Lunar Asylum : Van Halen 03. 08'55" Cosmosis : Atom Bom 04. 06'33" Dimension 5 : Phoenix 05. 07'11" Outer Active : Radiant Knowledge 06. 08'44" Christof And DJ Maël : KLM 07. 08'28" Deviant Electronics : Vesuvius 08. 10'41" SETI Project And Chris Organic : Floating Point 09. 07'57" OOOD : Other World Review: A pretty good CD that shows us the spirit of "Otherworld", the famous monthly Goa-party in London!! It's all very psychedelic music and some songs are not real dance-songs, but other songs are full-on Dance music!!! There are two completely wicked songs on it; nr.5 and the second part of nr.2!!!! Other very good songs are nr 3,4&6!! => The last one has some VERY uplifting pieces but there are to many breaks in it!! But all together this CD is worth the investment!! Guest Psylent Buddhi
Simply awesome. Allow me to go through this compilation track by track, it deserves it: Kundalini's "Cow Den" is a piece of truly psychedelic trance. Clever and detailed production is basically what it is. Not particularly melodic, but still very uplifting. "Van Halen" by Lunar Asylum is also a brilliant track. The first 5 mins it's just building but then it breaks and simply freaks out. Awesome! "Atom Bomb" by Cosmosis is pretty good too. Not the best track by them ever though. Dimension 5's "Phoenix" is a very beautiful, uplifting piece of morning trance. Very melodic and powerful. "Radiant Knowledge" by Outer Active is probably the weakest track on this compilation. So on to the next truly amazing track "KLM" by Christof And DJ Maël. Powertrance all the way with a surprising melody at the end. A very good track. "Vesuvius" by Deviant Electronics is a beautiful, very psychedelic track, that instantly demands to be played over and over again. It may seem a little minimalistic, but you wont notice, as it's still a melodic track. "Floating Point" is the best track o! n this compilation. No words can really do it justice. It's a 10 mins (not 6:46 as it says above!) long journey. Very watery and liquid. Filled with melodies and yet it still manages to be very psychedelic. So good I can't express what I feel when I hear it! OOOD. delivers a good powerful track, that finishes off this awesome compilation. 9.5/10!!! Get this! P.L.U R. freak51
Didn't like it over the long haul. Too crazy and frenetic; sounds like psy-trance trying too hard to say "I'm not dead yet", but comes across to me like the oxygen-deprived thrashings of a drowning genre. Happily, since then it's found a new life through other means than just harder-faster.
Guest Leon_de_Bourgy[at]yahoo[dot]com
A great CD. this was actually one of the first GoaCD's I ever heard and it really got me hooked. Off course it's really freaky at certain points, but forpeople who like that, this is the CD. Too bad it's all sold out everywhere... Guest Baggins
Great CD, the tracks go v. well with each other; quite a "digital" sound to the compilation. Outer Active - Radiant Knowledge being the best track, wish I could find it on vinyl! Cosmosis, Kundalini & SETI/Chris Organic being other favourites. seraph
Very good compilation ! The concept is great, Freak51 is wrong, it is complete bullshit that this CD sounds like it's shouting " I am not dead yet !"....That's shit...It completely shouts " I AM STILL ALIVE !" And it is great. Only one bad track on this compilation and thats KLM that is not bad but simply don't fit in....Best are COW DEN, VAN HALEN ( !!!!! ), ATOM BOMB, PHOENIX ( !!!!!!! ) AND OTHERWORLD.... 9/

SkeletonMan
First off, I need to comment on the artwork here. This is nothing short of stunning and everything you could want in a 1997 psychedelic trance release. I don't even have to put the album on before I start to trip ! Musicwise the album also hits a home-run delivering what a solid compilation from this era will; a bunch of beautiful melodic goa trance tracks. I'm not sure if I find any tracks here essential, even if my favorite here, KLM, is a great track with some nice samples from Pulp Fiction, but I'm also carefull labelling anything essential. In any case, perhaps one track aside this album offers a fluent ride from beginning to end and is guaranteed to satisfy any fan of this era. And put on at the right hour of nostalgia I might be ready to stand corrected and proclaim some of the tracks here to be masterpieces. They sure resemble melodic psychedelic trance anno 1997. In any case, the cover itself makes it a must
Trance2MoveU
Now that is a lot of colors. Like someone took My Little Pony and twisted it as if it were a wet towel. Or maybe it was a skittles sh*tstorm. Not your every day melodic goa trance compilation. Oh there's some of that of course like Phoenix from Dimension 5 and KLM known for it's many Pulp Fiction samples. Sometimes it gets chaotic (Van Halen, and BTW where are the f*cking Van Halen samples?) and quirky and squelchy(Atom Bom). If you like chaotic, loud and squelchy then you'll love Radiant Knowledge. Vesuvius by Deviant Electronics had a nice little breakbeat amidst the wobbly bass and shimmering synths. Really cool with it's numerous rhythm changes. Floating Point sounded too...what's the word...pop to me. I know that it isn't, but compared to all the other chunky goodness found here, I just couldn't get into it. Colin shuts the door with Other World which is very psychedelic like everything he does. So you get a little bit of everything. And all of it is top notch. Discogs Sellers.
