Guest Kindgok
Spectral - Diffuse Artist: Spectral Title: Diffuse Label: Blue Room Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 05'11" Amerindians 02. 06'55" A Night In Africa 03. 06'19" Pure Consciousness (A Wodenful Feeling Remix) 04. 09'25" Groover 05. 05'47" Diffuse 06. 06'11" The Paradox 07. 05'42" Prism 08. 08'08" A Wonderful Feeling 09. 10'39" Avalon Review: Anyone accusing Blue Room of not being up to snuff anymore need only seek out this debut album from Jean Loup Kehrig & Thierry Gotti (a.k.a. Spectral). Hearing "Diffuse" was like rediscovering Blue Room all over again -- very much on par with the early releases while still pushing the envelope (along with Acid Rockers, Deviant Electronics and, of course, Juno Reactor). This album lays down the funk in varying flavors -- sometimes manic, sometimes chilled but NEVER boring! 'Should appeal to trancers and big-beat freaks alike. I managed to score this on vinyl so if those who own the CD would be so kind as to tell me what "Prism" sounds like, that's the only track the LP lacks. "I wanna go back to the...Blue Room!" Guest AlexG
yes, this is a very good album, but it's more funk than anything. of course, it is still trance, but with very heavy funk influences. this is best in the morning, to soothe your mind after a party: very peaceful, yet bouncy vibe, with lots of trippy acid layers, and basslines that spell F-U-N-K! 8/
Guest gizmo
I could say that this album is a kind of electro-psychedelic-rock. Interesting piece of music
Guest setor[at]hotemilio[dot]com
Impressive new sound from Spectral... anyone who has heard their EP Celtic Alchemy (Kingdok, this is not their first appearance on Blue Room, i think) will be amazed and surprised to see what a change these fellows' music has underwent, in a really different direction from their earlier work, which I must say was some of the best trance of its time, with an incredible use of roaming-stereo madness... alexg is right, it is really, really funky, but it also has some kicking dancefloor tracks, like no. 3 which is a remix of an old track that also comes in the CD; but then again there are tracks like 1 or 2 which could be played just about anywhere with a certainty of delighting the audience. If it wasnt for the previously released (like Avalon, a really old but still awesome chill out track) or oldies (like A Wonderful Feeling), this would be one of the most innovating albums in the last months. I refuse to rate it on a 0/10 scale, suffice to say it is absolutely worth every penny it costs and every second you listen to it.

Guest dj_auryn
Oh yeaaaaahh... Excellently phunky tunes. Production is so smooth and perfected that it's practically impossible to find something to compare it with; slide would probably come closest. Jazzy and funky elements work like a treat, and there is a lot of variety. My only gripe is the slightly misplaced guitar in Paradox, and the appearance of some hackeneyed afro/tribal/indian chanting. Otherwise, an excellent piece of work 8.5/
bomble
Lots of fun to be had here no doubt about it. As a point of interest , Avalon was released under the name Celestium on RTTS Ambient Meditations II - did they do anything else as Celestium ?? Incidentally.....Yo are you the 'Yo' I know in Cambs. ? bomble
Guest iNFiNiTi500
Blueroom strikes again. Excellent crystal clear production as always, lifts this far above most releases. It's French and Phunky, so I think it is safe to say that SPECTRAL is the DAFT PUNK of psytrance...Tracks go from melodic trance to DnB to ambient and back without losing attention of song structure. One of the few excellent releases of the last month and an oasis of quality in these minimal and cheesy times. 9/

alpha
A refreshing release from Blue Room. Funk and groove oriented psy, very good for home listening but I wouldn't dance to this. I find no real highlights here, as all tracks are equally good.. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to try out something new. 8/

Guest MG
Fucking Brilliant, I have had this a week & am in love with it already. This is music, complete with fusion of different styles, influences, etc. When today's artist are repeating themselves early on in their careers, just to have an identity, are any of them capable of this standard of music? This rocks the morning.
Guest Psychedelic AllabertA
Really nice! Sounds really fresh and unique. A standout in the sea of lookalike minimal albums... Guest Visi()n
I've found out that Spectral is french suond engenier Jean Loup Kehrig. His other projects in collaboration with other musicians are "Moog", "Diagonal" and "SunSong Project". But i couldn't find them in the Net. Check them out. It's a very interesting music for home listening, but best of all suits for listening to it at the beach party. Have a litle drink before. P.L.U.R.
