traveller
Jess M - Digidelica Artist: Jess M Title: Digidelica Label: Shiva Space Technology Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Uruq Al Shaiba 02. Hednisphere 03. Whipstick 04. Coitus 05. Drumming Air 06. Lemon Petals 07. Cloud Stalker 08. Tarn 09. Wild Islands 10. Heavy Grain 11. Cherrytwister Review: A lot of digeridoo stuff going on here.. actually every track has digeridoo.. some tracks have pretty much nothing else but the digeridoo.. well some tracks also have tribal drum stuff and bassline thingies.. if you like digeridoo this one is good for you.. I find this album a little "monotone", I guess I'm just not a big fan of digeridoo.. although there are a few tracks that are totally fabulous.. this might be one of those albums that you actually have to be high/or extremly relaxed while listening.. anyhow.. I give it 7/
Guest Rx7style
This isn't a great album I'm afraid to say. There's too much "digeridoo" for my tastes; and my tastes are that of a psychedlic and downtempo/chillout critic for the purposes of this review, and this album doesn't really fit into those categories. There's just not enough substance in this album to mention anything remarkable... and there are some tracks like "Wild Islands" that are around 150 bpm, and some with not a beat or bassline to be found! I'm confused by this discontinuity, but perhaps I've missed something. Maybe this will grow on me, but right now it's only deserving of a 5/10 for some nice instrumentals. Guest Le Lotus Bleu
I find vey courageous from SST to produce an album and an artist which rely essentially on didgeridoo. Didgeridoo has his charms, secrets and inconvenients. This instrument can be at time catchy, hypnotizing, bewithcing and other times monotone or boring. Indeed, all depend how it is used : mainly solo or in a more global construct harmony with others different elements. For tracks 1,3,5,10 which are only digeridoo, it?s sure that?s more diffcult to listen except probably for didgeridoo?s full lovers. When instruments are added like in track 2(flute),4(voices ,percus),6(guitar, singer 60?s or 70?s psyspirit),7(synths),8(harp ?),9(voices,samples billow more instruments),11(bass,guitar,percus), it becomes easier and enjoyable to hear. My favorites are Hednisphere, Cloud Stalker, Wild Islands(not ambient indeed). In a second order : Coitus,Tarn. Mark :7/
Guest Chroneus
Sometimes this tunes are boring... The experimental style of album looks like Abracadabra album. The really nice tracks which takes not only didgeridoo sounds. Thus, track 7,9,11 very impressive. Ambiguous album. 6/
