This series have offered some of the finest compilations in my collection, so my hopes for this one was really high. If my hopes were met, I'll reveal after I take you thru the tracks. CD1 Track 1 (1.1) is the well-know Ticon track. It's somewhat dubby & clubby, yet still minimal. Bit repetitive, but that's one of the flaws of minimalistic psytrance. 1.2 is another well-know minimal track from Son Kite. It has a similar structure to Super Model Girlfriend, and I think that Hi-Fi Stomp would fit better. Anyway, it's not a bad track. Nice and funky. 1.3 is the only unreleased track on this comp. but it's nothing special. Moving on to 1.4 which is Wizzy Noise. Another minimal tune, and one of my personal fav'es from Cybermancy. Really nice, and you should all know this one by now. 1.5 => This is the first full-on melodic track on this comp. It's very good, and I like it a lot, though the original is slightly better. 1.6 Is an up-tempo track from Joti Sidhu. Quite good, and has melodies in it, which is different from much of the rest of this CD. 1.7 is from Cydonia. This one I hadn't hear before, and it has a really cheese sample to begin with. As the title suggests this track is very bass-ridden without being to minimal. Also it has this annoying melody, that'll get to you no matter what you do to try and avoid it. . Actually, CD1 ends here for me. The last two tracks sucks. 1.8. What is this shit?.. Boring, slow crap. 1.9 is even worse. Updata is a Quirk-project, and I never thought they could make such pointless crap. What a stinker! CD2 is compiled and mixed by Robert Leiner of The Source Experience, and as I don't really like mixed CDz I'll just take you thru this in a few words. 2.1 Very weird. sounds like a Japanese Texas Faggott. Avoid! 2.2 Quite ok track actually. And apparently the title means mushroom in Polish. *s* 2.3. Also an OK, different track. I actually like the repetitive voice samples in here. 2.4. Hmm. Of course the guy who compiled this have to have his own track on here. Nothing special about this track. 2.5. a bad remix of a bad original (see 1.8). Slick Dick is actually Dick Trevor of Green Nuns, and he has only managed to make this "slightly" better that the original. 2.6 . Much better now, as this compilation again goes minimal. I'm no minimal-buff - far from it, but if I have to choose between minimal and stuff like Hit & Run, I'll go with minimal anytime!. 2.7 I don't really like this. Too strange and too boring. 2.8 is better, and this is an ok track. 2.9. I think you all know. Very good track. I like the tribal feel this track has. 2.10 is one of the best on CD2 without being really fantastic. That sums up CD2 actually. And to sum up this comp as a whole: Good things: Really nice coverart, Ticon, The GMS remix, Free Radical, fairly good mixing by Leiner (Though I don't really dig mixed CDz). Bad things: The rest. Hehe! For instance - style confusion! There is simply just too much crap on this compilation for me to be able to recommend it to you guys. Conclusion: Destination Goa - one of the well-renowned compilation is not declared dead yet, but if they do not SERIOUSLY get their act together they will definitely die as many others have. (Tantrance, Goahead, Pulse.)It might grow on me, but I seriously doubt it... Rating 4.5/10 Bom shankar!
Guest AtomicCow
Muchomory are the red mushrooms with white spots on top. They are poisonous but vikings used them to go into berserk mode...or something.
Guest Philip Xmen
Miminimal sucks... big time! Just happy the Deedrah : Reload (GMS Rmx) track is on the comp. At least it has some great melodies...
Guest ashonacid[at]shpongle[dot]com
I though muchomory *were* magicical mushrooms.. at least that explains why all the childrens stories have red mushrooms with white spots on them.... as for the cd, i do dig minimal stuff. But i wouldn't but it because i'd rather go hunt out some tasty pleidians or transwave that i don't have

Guest [Anonymous]
Is Goa Trance dead or what??? In all this 19 tracks only 5 and 6 of cd 1 are ok,but for the others... what is goa trance? it's psychedelic hard trance whith deep melodies and beats and what do we have here? some experimental techno-guitar-dumb music. If the staff of distance to goa wants to change the music style in their compils just don't name it "distance to goa" but distance to cheet

Guest Rob
I have all the collection of Distance To Goa serie...What can I say about this cd... There's only psychedelic techno on it...maybe only a track is goatrance (deedrah - reload(GMS Rmx))...I don't like very much psychedelic techno, I prefere goa trance like a.p., pleiadians, california sunshine...and distance to goa in the last productions doesn't contain these artists... The next cd will be more interesting...?? I hope...Rating 5/
Guest [Anonymous]
Not very Goa, but the first CD is quality bracketed by not very good progressive (tracks 1 and 9). That Slinky Wizard track (the original mix) is wicked, but once again very different - slower, subtler stuff. Buy it for the first CD, the second one is pretty shit. First CD 7/10, Second CD 4/
Guest thanosmusic[at]hotmail[dot]com
very good comp. the first cd has psy techno, minimal trance songs ready to blow yous brains out. wizzy noise once more do their thing, reload just GREAT psychaos one of the same. the 2nd cd is more like progressive tribal but still very good. 1st 9.5/10 2nd 7.5/
Guest [Anonymous]
In my opinion the world of goatrance is in sad shape, if you want real goa trance try distance to goa 1-5 (3 and 4 are the best) and even 9 wasnt too bad seeing as mwnn compiled it. im so sick and tired of everything being minimal crap, i mean enough is enough everyone is using the same beat and one repetitive sound for each song , what ever happened to tracks like lunar cycle , feel the universe, people can fly, land of freedom, prophecy , ...im getting sad now
Guest Moog Spectral
Robert Leiner is a precursor..try to get his 93,94 stuff, and you'll soon understand how skilled he is..people like Mark Allen,Tsuyoshi and return to the source crew have been inspired by this guy..All the psychedelic scene came because guys like him elevated trance out of the dark..He knows more about psychedelic sound than most of musicians on the scene. Try to listen to "Aqua Viva" on Apollo recs in 94, then you'll know where psy trance comes from...Cumulate his experience of years in trance music, and then come and talk about it. If you don't like it, well, don't buy it!! some others will be glad to get the copy you don't want. I am a great fan of Hux-Flux, Toi Doi, Hallucinogen, 3D Vision label etc..but at 10 am on Sunny Sunday, Robert Leiner is the Guy...

dhollmusik
In defence of the mix cd: I really like it, tho' I agree with you guys that it does not feel like a Distance album. As somebody said above: it's sort of progressive tribal (actually perfect for those summer holidays chilling and tripping on the beach). For me, cd1 is mostly boring (I'm a big fan of Distance 1 - 6 too).
