Guest squid[at]born-on-a-pirate-ship[d
Battle Of The Future Buddhas - Domestic Bliss Artist: Battle Of The Future Buddhas Title: Domestic Bliss Label: Kavator Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. Domestic Bliss 02. Brainscar 03. Advancing Aardvark Review: domestic bliss is the real stormer here, with freaky melodies throughout. there are a few parts where this bizarre growl comes out of nowhere, and the percussion is cool, metallic, and very simplistic. you can tell this is some of their older stuff since the bass is rather tinny -- it lacks depth and warmth. in the later part of the song a sample comes in and says "let's broaden our minds" then that funny growl kicks and things go crazy, with screaming noisy melodies sweeping all over the place. it's a weird track and is the strongest of the three. brainscar kicks off on a groovier tip, with a distinct bassline throbbing along. dark melodies flow in and out of the song seemingly at random. some of the instruments have a weird quality to them that makes them sound like a distorted harmonica or accordion. you're not likely to hear the same thing twice in this song, though the percussion is static. advancing aardvark plods along at a slow pace and i find it to be a bit bland. this EP is perhaps only for collectors and fans. ukiro
If you like the other BOTFB releases such as the album, this is worth the money for Domestic Bliss only. Since this is a bit old and released on the rather small label Kavator, it is probably rather hard to come by these days. But if you do, and like psychotic and yet melodic, hard ripping psy, then cash up, because this is the real thing (Oh, and by the way - yeah I'm a BOTFB collector so I'm probably quite biased but it's still good
Guest DJ Supernova
agree with the reviews above. demoestic bliss is a tweaky melodic killer. the sound quality sucks though! other two tracks are....not all that. worth checking out if you like BOTFB style
