Review:

 

A Two CD compilation with some old and some new? The first CD starts off in old

style fashion with UX and then Kaaya, Both Good sturdy Yet Typical Psytrance

tracks. Shakta then kicks in with a most impressive track (cosmic trigger)

this is probably the highlight of the album for me a fast melody with very

psychedelic feel to it. The Killing Joke track is on a much more chilled vibe

and has some nice etheral touches mixed in throughout. I'm not so keen on the

tracks by Genetic (never seems to get going) and I really don't like the

Darshan Remix of the amazing Muses Rapt - Spiritual healing, It's just boring

and the melody has been fiddled with in a bad way. This first CD makes me feel

like I'm listening to trance from 1997/1998 (but I guess it is goa classix

!!).. Overall A good CD with some memorable tracks 8/10. The second CD starts

with the very hard hitting Droidlock, and follows with Bamboo Forest and

Shakta, with tracks lacking melody but full of squishy abstract noises, The

weird noises Continue but in a much better fashoin with the excellent Digital

Damage by Darshan, Very Dark, Fast & Pounding, yet still able to stay trippy

and Psychedelic, The track is immensely long? But that just makes it better!!

(Best track on CD 2) Again Genetic dissapoint, with a track that lacks

substance. Some very Intersting samples indeed J !!!are found on the

T.E/Resurex track, but not a track that stands out in anyway, in the same

average kinda way the CD continues until a very familiar track indeed, MWNN

Teleport 2000, For those who haven't heard it the original is a true classix,

This version starts off in a much sharper modern way and then verges on cheezy

trance further on?hmmm.

The second CD is on a more Minimal trip than the first which has dominant

psychedelic influences, Overall 7/10.. Only sparse Bad tracks but a lot of

tracks that don't really stand out in anyway and a couple of stormers.

A really good compilation with music from the past.The second CD was more like

Psy-Techno or something but really powerfull! 9/10 in general and comparing to

vol.1 which was super!!!Spiritual Healing,Darshan Mix?I don't think so!The

worst track I've ever heard from Darshan and, in general, Dragonfly...

Good CD.

As the title suggests, its full of Classix! ill talk about the tracks which

stood out for me :

First track cd1, UX - Masters of the Universe, is one of my favourites on the

CD. With a very powerful metalic sounding melody, i would LOVE to hear this on

a big system. Shakta - Cosmic Trigger, is also very good! to me this track is

a prime example of old goa melodies, it really makes u smile, and is full of

energy. Pleiadians - Headspin, is quite complex sounding, very good quality

music (what else would u expect from pleiadians ) and the sample is used

well, really compliments the buildup. The last track X-Dream & Spiralkinda -

Blah, has a unique start to it. and only gets better and more psychedelic as

it goes. Pretty dark sounding but with a funky melody.

CD2 is more on the minimal side.

Droidlock - Gate 12, is very dark! and very interesting for me (someone who

doesnt listen to much minimal trance)this is quality stuff. Bamboo Forest -

Xplorer probaly isnt on of their best releases, but its still a nice track

with dark haunting sounds. Darshan - Digital Damage, starts out pretty

minimal, but i like the the way this track evolves with cool electric sounds.

Purple - Cascades, is a nice mellow track. really relaxing Avatar - Machine

life, is a very robotic sounding track i think, it suits its name. pretty

dark, with an effective loop.

and MWNN - Teleport(rmx) is of course a classic track, i prefer this to the

original version except for when the bassline shifts key, it makes it sound

very clubby.

 

overall - 7/10

A nice mix between good and old ..

comments on cd 1 : Shakta ruled ! . . Darshan shouldnt remix Muses rapt tracks

in the future (if he ever releases again) .... comments on cd 2 : Teleport

remix rules .. the guys in total eclipse are horny

Spiritual Healing Darshan remix is one of the worst tracks I have ever heard.

The production is just horrible and it is just a shame because Darshan has

some decent tracks.
