Dr Phibes 02. Taifun Review: This is an average release by Amphasis. It is a minimalistic EP, With some fluffy sounds and dark atmosphire. The First track, "Dr. Phibes" (7/10) is very minimalstic, dark and repietive. I think it is quite a good track but I like minimal very much, So if you don't like minimal, you won't like this track. The second track "Taifun" (7/10) is also minimal but with more fluffy sounds on top. This track developes more than the first track and is quite soft. The bottom line is, that Amphasis does'nt bring anything new to psy/minimal music. I think it is a shame that many Minimal trance acts are making the same music without developing into new directions. I give this release 7/10... For originality, I give it 2/10... Quote
Guest MG Posted September 7, 2001 Posted September 7, 2001 Matrix rocks, it is his best work IMO. Helix is also rocking. The thing about Amphasis is the shit he does with a stereo field, & song structure (e.g Downhill) his productions are A1. Wait for the album, then decide! Quote
