Guest jonatanh[at]hotmail[dot]com
V/A - Electric Kool-Aid Artist: Various Title: Electric Kool-Aid Label: Kavator Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 06'43" Pelinpala : Dance Like A Tree 02. 08'12" Rastaliens : Sativasaurus 03. 09'40" Paranoic Sensations : Vinylling 04. 08'20" Logic Bomb : Rotation Generation 05. 06'01" Translucid : Metabolic 06. 07'36" Kasol : Tracy Snakecharmer 07. 09'21" Hux Flux : Degauss 08. 08'42" Weirdo Beardo : Mentallica 09. 06'50" Twin Freaks : Gizmos Turned On Review: All tracks is previously unreleased, the only track I heard before I got this compilation was Twin Freaks' track "Gizmos Tuned On" (same members as in Little Blue Men, Uffe Gustavsson And Jouni Ollila). With artists like Hux Flux and Weirdo Beardo you can't fail. Not bad for beeing Kavator's first CD-release. Very wicked psychedelics alá Scandinavia, lot's of energy.. Fucked up, but in a very good way . I bought this CD in a small clothing shop in Örebro and I haven't seen it anywhere else yet, but I suggest that you start looking for it! I think Cosmophilia is the distributor?
Guest strou[at]mail[dot]tele[dot]dk
The name of the compilation is taken from Tom Wolfes book "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" about Ken Kesey and The Merry Pranksters and it's some weird shit at times. Start out with some Finnish stuff from Pelinplala. Nice groove with lots of really smooth sounds on top. This track will sound really good if played outdoors. After Pelinpala we change style and move on to a real stomper from Rastaliens. Nice track with lots of growling sounds....love it. They continue with style for the rest of the cd except for the last track by Twin Freaks. This is the first ambient like track I've heard from them but it's really good. They've used some really cool samples from ID4 and all the little Gizmo's are really turned on. Overall a really great cd. I'm sure these tracks will rock some outdoor parties this summer. Guest Ubik
Most of the tracks are very cool, weird and twisted, especially the Logic Bomb and Huxflux ones, but production for the comp is quite bad, recording of some tracks is much louder than for others, the same goes for bass level... Not very professional, compared to the perfect production of some other recent comps.
Guest Tchankov I.V.
What is really Kool about this cd is track no.6 Ka-Sol "Tracy Snakecharmer" - thats for sure. Pure scando madness with some industrial/EBM touch! That's why I'am fond of this subgenre so much - so powerful, yet so fabulous. It works for itself and saves this compilation from criticism which could be applied to it. The second best tracks are from Hux Flux & Logic Bomb crew, but these offerings are just above average to my mind: "Degauss" is too soft, "Rotation Generation" is overly banging. Others tracks are good-2-decent in except of Translucid & Twin Freaks which do not work for me at all. Get t.6 - it well endures the test of time! 7/10 for the whole thing - "quite predictable, but good nonetheless". Tchankov I.V.
