Guest Reflekshun
Tarsis - Evolve Artist: Tarsis Title: Evolve Label: Pro.Tone Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 07'30" Lakota 02. 06'31" Dance 03. 09'19" Evolve 04. 06'44" Lift Off 05. 09'18" Accelerator 06. 06'24" Disconnected 07. 08'28" Music 08. 07'36" Submerge (Rmx) Review: TIGHT tight tight! The beats on this album are SO TIGHT! Tarsis have kept up to their elite dancefloor standard with this album. Their trademark sound has only improved, killer psydance from beginning to end.. What really shows throughout this album is tarsis' experience. You might find this stupid, but as soon as i heard the bass drop on the first track, i KNEW this whole album had to be a killer! Lakota and Evolve stand out as great tracks, but the others have their own beauty. Definitely 9/10! (put this together with Necton's new COTCW and you are SET) BOM! Guest Blazed Pokemon
Let me start by saying that I don't care for much of the minimal that’s out there. But because there is so much of it floating around and not enough other good stuff to keep me completely occupied, I figured I had to give some of it a try....so I checked out tarsis. Some of they're stuff reminded me a bit of Ticon, but I think it's much better. The beginning of the album had me hooked from the first beat....and damn...those are some nice beats, 9.5/10 for this song! The second track is dark, spacious, and tribal. It keeps the same theme going throughout the entire track and doesn't build up to a real climax at the end. Usually this kind of formula bores the shit out of me, but in this case they manage to hold my attention throughout the song and I actually like it a lot......I'd say it gets an 8. The next track, evolve starts off sounding like it's going to be something clubby but about a minute in there is a melody that ends up taking control of song....and it is really sweet!.....spacey, trippy, and surprisingly uplifting. 10/10 for this track. The next track, Lift off, has a driving bassline, and high pitched lead that doesn't really strike me as anything really interesting....It is still ok though. I'm sure people who like wigging out at parties and don't care really listen to the music will love it 6/10. Thankfully, the next song is of excellent quality.....very nice morning track 9/10. Disconnected, seems to be a bit of a filler track. It uses the same formula as track 2 but without the interesting part 5.5/10. The next track, Music reminds me of track 5.....and although it is a bit less effective, it is still a quite welcome morning track and that I’d give a 7.5. The last track is a slow and chill morning track with a really killer trippy vocal sample....an excellent way to end the cd, I'd say 9 or 9.5. All in all this cd has 4 killer tracks, and two more that are definitely groovin......But don't take my word for it...Download the songs on Direct Connect or Soul Seek and if you like them, please do us all a favor and support the artist:) Overall 8.5/
