Review:

Pretty good album...It does reminds a lot on Alien Project or GMS but he has

some of his ideas very well blended and composed...He is slightly faster than

Alien Project and less psychedelic than GMS...Most of them being full on and

sometimes pretty psychedelic..Best on album : CRYSTAL SEQUENZ, WIDER, EYE TO

EYE, SIDE EFFECT, FEEL.S.D ( ! )...7.5/10

You should have heard Astrix on various compilations and collaborations by now.

Here comes now his highly anticipated debut album, and thankfully it lives up

to my expectations! The style is the same as in the tracks we've already heard

from him. Think Alien Project - similarly groovy basslines and plenty of

atmosphere, only with more uplifting melodies. A natural next step in the

evolution of full-on sound. An album that makes you fly high, at home as well

as on the dance floor. If you ask me, exactly what's needed. The Wider remix

seems a bit pointless though as it's very similar to the original, only with a

pantented Astrix bassline. But I don't mind that when almost every other track

here is great! Without doubt will you be hearing these tracks in morning sets

all around. Excellent debut. I can't wait for more :)

This album contains only melodic, cosmic, happy and dreamy full on stuffs.

It's simple there are 10 potential major hits in EYE TO EYE.

For me, Astrix's sound isn't as close from Alien Project as it was said above

and produces largely better stuffs also.

Highlights:all the 10 tracks, i really like'em.

mark:9/10

Well, this is mostly the usuall psytrance stuff... A bassline... Drums... And

some weird sounds... Nothing special about this one. You get tired of the

sound in 10-15 minutes as usuall :P

A good Overall Album! i like the deeper dark sounds and the high

atmosphere... it has a bassline like the GMS thats true but he manages to

create new sounds and a new concept from an old formula... BEST TRACK 4!!! And

the rest offcourse :-) All Good Tracks!!! 9/10 Keep TRancin Ppl...

It does indeed reminds me to the alien project style, but to be honest, i found

this a little better... More overthought interceptions and they flow like they

are supposed to flow. The beat comes when it has to come and the subtile

effects let you dream away. Production is again a topper. I'm a hard pumping

fullon lover and give this 8/10 for the whole cd. But morningtrance lovers

will definately give it a 10/10.

Yes, yes yes yes, I like that sound, very high with big and profond Bass.

A very good album from one of the better artist of the moment with Alien

Project (with "Aztechno dream") and Altöm (the best for me with "Hologram").

Thanks for all and good vibes in Psytrance World!!!!!!!!

what do you get when you mix the GMS/ Alien Project sound with the (old)

Astral/ Yahel sound? You get Astrix!!! This would be just another GMS/Alien

Project imitation if it weren't for those killer oldschool melodies inserted

usually near the end of the track. Very very good oldschool feeling to most of

the tracks!!! best track? Massive Activity... the melody that kicks in around

5:50 reeks of old Astral and Yahel, but hey for those who like it, it's great!

10/10!!! Definately a must-own for oldschool fans!

I've been enjoying Astrix alot more lately, ever since the DJ played upbeat "Closer to heaven" at a recent party. The singing in that song was cheesy and hurt an otherwise uplifting, good trance dance song. I heard their 2004 album Artcore first before going back to their debut, Eye To Eye.

Eye To Eye is the best Astrix album to date. It's groovy and has some very uplifting melodies. It's nothing deep however and most effective for listening to while being active, dancing, exercise, etc. As said above, it seems Astrix was inspired by other great artists to fuse together certain styles and do some very catchy and new thoughts and ideas with it.

This album never feels like a rip off or copy of the others though which I like. The problem is no song on this album sounds like a real killer or super song to me. Sure, several really stand out over others but the best ones aren't exactly awesome. That can be argued of course and this album didn't come out yesterday either. It seems Astrix changed for the worse (popish at times and too mainstream and unoriginal sounding) to compensate for inspirations that seemed to be changing or already at that side too. Whatever. But they were always generally more mainstream (club oriented) sounding to begin with.

In conclusion, Eye To Eye has more good songs on it than the follow-up released in 2004. This is the best Astrix album to date. It's good, not great or spectacular IMO but definitely a quality Full On psytrance album. And I like those melodies in the middle of track 4 very much! The last song is slower, downtempo psy/chill which makes a nice finishing touch too.

HIGHLIGHTS: MASSIVE ACTIVITY, EYE TO EYE, FEEL.S.D.

SCORE: 8/10 = B-

Women have it rough. They really do. From day one they're judged on their looks in a way that no man has to endure. It's not fair, but it's the way it is. You know where you really see it?

Hollywood of course. Actresses, singers...the formula is blond, boobs, and boatload of autotune to manufacture the next penile stimulant. What does this have to do with Astrix? When this first came out, it was universally praised as a great full-on album. It seemed everyone loved it. I did and I bought it.

But times change. Tastes change. Full-on is a four letter word and let's face it mostly due to the artists themselves. They took a formula and hit the repeat button which still hasn't stopped. My point? Know who this is?

Of course you do. Lindsay Lohan was on the verge of becoming the hottest actress on the planet. Looks, down home appeal, and of course boobs. I would've hit it when Mean Girls came out and am pretty sure you would have also. But that was 10 years ago. Lots of things happen in a decade. The debut from Astrix is now 12 years old. How do you think that has held up?

Yeah, not so well. Like someone else mentioned his breaks are where he shines the brightest and that hasn't changed. But listening to this now is almost nap inducing. Just one full-on eye rolling cliche after another. Not his fault, he made it before it became cliche. Before it was a sin to just let the full-on bass line roll for 32 measures. Before empty spaces bred boredom. This was really great at the time as we were starting to come out of the dark ages of minimal so any melody (even cheesy ones) were something to look forward to.

But today this isn't something I want to listen to. It's tired and ran its course years ago. These days his productions are still full-on and shinier than 2002. I don't want to hear those either. Times change and so do tastes in music. I like to think I have evolved as a man and that my musical tastes have grown as well. So thanks to Astrix for this way back when, I appreciate it. But I've moved on. By the way...Lindsay says hi.

this is definitely one of the better fullon albums. it does sound very cliché nowadays, because it has become the template for most fullon (especially the isreali stuff) coming after it until around 2007. if someone asked me what fullon usually sounded like in the golden times, i'd show them this album.
