Daniël
Frequency Deluxe - Frequency Deluxe Artist: Frequency Deluxe Title: Frequency Deluxe Label: Kagdila Date: 2003 Track listing: 01. Slide Ruler 02. Ridamdiculous 03. Online Gamerla 04. Drip Technique 05. Big Game Hunting 06. K Dila 07. Our Dna Is Better Than Yours 08. Shwink 09. Sci-dept 10. Drainwash Review: One of the most boring and repetitive production I have recently heard. Most of the tracks is based on the same structure built with similiar samples. Because of that, despite three tracks (1,7,10), the rest suffers lack of idea and is just boring. In overall the tune is a psy-tech-trance with leading straight kick and noisy, distorted samples. If you like such combination you may be able to listen the whole album, I couldn't. 3/
Guest DJ Zen
Well, nature harverest all tastes..I'm not on your side Daniel... Here is a true killer album! It is totally part of the deliria's dancefloor! Full-on to the bones, an ultimate bomb for all freaks! The production is perfect and all traxs sounds great & fresh with a little GMS influence. I think it's normal because Shanti who is part of this group was working with GMS some time ago. If you want more info's see the whole story at www.kagdilarecords.com. 1-SLIDERULER: What a great trax to start a dj set at 6 in the morning! The bassline is hot & energetic. It's surrounded by powerfull synth lines & noises. Stompy kick and great twisted melodies. I give 9/10 2-RIDAMDICULOUS: Deeper side of their unique groovy style... After a slow start, the psychedelic sounds grows second by second and give to the listener a real good feeling at the end. Good trax to give a little "psychedelic break" to the people on the dancefloor when the night became too intense! I give 8/10 3-ONLINE GAMERLAND: It's groovy and full-on, the bassline is perfect for the "gamy" style. As i'm not a game fan i can't appreciate it to the max. If you like computer games, you'll love this one who contains samples alike electronic games but made by their own synths. It's totally original! I give 6/10 for the very nice groovy mood! 4-DRIP TECHNIQUE: Wow! A faster trax with plenty of energy! Killer bassline again! ! ! a lot of psychedelic sounds who melts perfectly. It's a warrior trax! Play it a 6 a.m to get the people jumping and flying high! I give 9/10 5-BIG GAME HUNTING: Haaa...! After the precedent who is energetic, here is this one who will give to the listener another great bouncing feeling! ! More than a great trax it's a psychedelic groove so hard to find these days. Perfect kick, faster bassline, twisted sounds melted together.. . Great! total success in creativity. To be played between 4 and 6 a.m depends of the feeling you have, but i can tell you it is the wicked trax on the album! I give 10/10! 6-K DILA: It's the calm after the storm of "Big Game Hunting". Here we go with their unique groovy style who separate them completely to the GMS style. Slower trax, good to introduce. A pearl to be listened around 8 to 10 a.m or to give a funny-progressive-slower feeling between 6 and 7 a. m! Made in the name of Kagdila records! ! I give 10/10! 7-OUR DNA IS BETTER THAN YOURS: BIG kick and wicked bassline. Perfect in progression. Groovy & breathly to the bones. Play this one to see the people getting smiley! Starts gently and gets fire at 1:00mns. with a great opening. Here is the psychedelic sounds who says indirectly: "Our DNA is better than yours"... 'cuz we get higher and higher! ! . Stompy trax. I give 10/10! 8-DARBIN KRUGER: We're diving more in GMS style. Surely different. If you're a Deejay or better if you make music you'll understand me. Yes it's close to GMS! But listen well! . . . : The introduction with his unique synths, the little melody, the different cutted-edge bass sound of the bassline... i'm sure you can hear now... the twisted sounds are enginereed differently, the mood is different. This trax try to say something to you..! Play around 6 a.m and see the freaky people starting to tell you "more like this, more...! " (real dj-life experience at Earthdance! )I give 10/10! ! 9-SCI DEPT: Like trax 10 as you may know was released on Agriglyph records in "Reality of Liberation" in 2001. This one have especially have a power intro . Still the "Darbin Kruger" style but more twisted! The bassline is very interresting, changing all the time... I like it! Very creative... To be played between 5 and 6 a. m for bes t psychedelic effects! I give it 9/10. 10-BRAINWASH: More energetic, faster, chaotic after an "i-don't-know-what-will-happen-now" nice intro! I love it, it's a great job and about the title i'm not disapointed this "brainwash' is clear and enjoyable! It's not as the other "brainwash" songs i heard before who was terribly ugly & dark! I promise you a "great brainwash" good for your spiritual health!!!!!!! In one word, this album is more than worth to buy. The music is really creative and not "copyed-pasted". The people on the dancefloor will bless you a lot if you play almost all this album! Wicked killer full-on!!! All traxs are not containing a lot of voices samples, you won't be disapointed with a lot of unnecessary "bla-bla-bla"... Total success in mastering and production it sounds perfect! More like this, Kagdila records, please!
PKS
Kagdila Records in Los Angeles is out with their second album, this time by a group called Frequency Deluxe. This is three guys. Shanti Matking, known as a member of Growling Mad Scientists (GMS), Ken Small from California, a dj since 1989, also bin living in Japan for a few years working as a model and Alex Cornfield making films in Hollywood. The first track is a full on stomper influenced by the GMS sound, but more minimal and just rolling all the way through. It has a few careful melodies coming in and out of the track. Track 2 is a little bit more varied, with more psychedelic sounds and breaks. Track 3 is a groovy track with even more psychedelic sounds. This track will probably make people jump. You get a lot of GMS influenced sounds with this one. Track 4 goes the same style, but a little bit faster. Track 5 is really fast and totally full on! After a few minutes you get a nice morning melody too. Track 6 is a pumping track. It goes slower, but isn`t very varied for the first couple of minutes. Then you get a nice funky melody that saves the track. Track 7 is more full on again, with a lot of twisted psychedelic sounds. Pretty cool track. Track 8 goes the same direction. This sounds a lot like GMS. I`m not a big fan of this style, but if you like GMS stuff, you will like this one. Track 9 is very stompy. GMS sound, but lesser varied. They finish their album with a really fast full on track. Noisy sounds and rolling rhythms all the way. With this album I missed some more variation and maybe a chilled track at the end. But if you like the full on sounds like GMS, this might be the right choice for you.
