Guest Tequila
V/A - Gaia IX Artist: Various Title: Gaia IX Label: XIII bis Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'38" Blue Planet Corporation : Human Genom Project 02. 07'15" Cameleon : Love Cricket 03. 06'10" Synchro : Born In California 04. 06'34" Yumade : Hair Zatz 05. 09'03" Neuromotor : Android From Mars 06. 07'39" Bamboo Forest : Automation 07. 08'53" S-Range : Morning Star 08. 10'07" Son Kite : Collection 09. 09'57" Toires : Tali (Original Mix) Review: At first I was quite reluctant to buy this CD because it is compiled by Ninja, who is an awful DJ who often plays in France, but here I have to admit that the tracks he selected are nearly all good ones. The BPC track is really good.It sounds a little bit housey sometimes, but I really got into it and like it very much. The cameleon track is really original, between minimal and psychedelic, with some nice sounds moving around you...great.The Syncro track is a little boring actually.Just a basic kick with a boring sample, it is not really to my taste even though I like minimal trance. The Yumade track is probably the best one of the compilation, it reminds me Still Smack Pool on Monarchy, a killer track, with powerful percussions, a nice bassline and a great kick. The neuromotor is a typical neuromotor track, between minimal and full-on stuff, it sounds too much like all the 3DV stuff but it's a track that works fine for me.The BF track is excellent, but maybe is it because I usually like Bamboo Forest very much.Remember their awesome track "masher" on the 6th flight comp? yes, it sounds the same, it's so good:)The S-range and the Son Kite trax are on their respective albums so I'm not going to describe them but know that they simply rocks. The toires track is here to tell you in a beautiful way that the journey has to stop somewhere, and this nice ambient track is always a pleasure to listen to when you want to chill a little. finally, we can criticise this comp because it has two previously released tracks but the other ones are really good enough to make this CD worth buying.8.5/
Alex
totaly agree with you. very good comp with very good tracks neuromotor, srange and son kite (released before but..) and last but not least a wonderful Bamboo Forest !! Largely better than the "Password is love" comp. 8/
Guest [Anonymous]
Agree too! For the most, the compile is purely energetic, inspiring, trippy and wavy... Cameleon track suxx! sorry! but this time, i wonder what did Stephane do with this track???! The same for synchro! Boring track... For the rest, enjoy! Guest Icydeus
As guys above said, it's an honest goa CD ; however, some tracks like Yumade or Synchro ( who has done tracks 10 times better ) sucks. The others tracks are good ( 1,2,6,8), but the best are obviously SRange and Neuromotor, tracks repetitive and very very energetic. The CD ends with an excellent ambient track, Toires, one of my favourites ambient tracks. 8/
Guest Soyouth
To me a great compilation in that it has really been designed well : the first one (BPC) is a perfect way to enter the trance as well as the last one (Toires) is perfect for getting gently out of it. I feel Yumade, BF and Srange's are the three that put you most into trance, forcing your body to move. I also feel that Neuromotor is the greatest in the way that it really drives you mad and locks you in a psychedelic universe. To finish with I would say that the one from synchro is also great though it differs from the spirit of this comp. 9/
Guest beah[at]haeb[dot]com
Wasn't "masher" from sixth flight ManMadeMan? 'cause Tequila was making it sound like that was a Bamboo Forest track. Oh well, maybe it was just the tequila talking...
Guest FelipeLemosBrasil
THE CAMELEON TRACK IS LOVELY!!! Clear psychedelic metallic professional sounds! Best track here, with Bamboo Forest, of course... Synchro and BPC made a good work here too. The rest, maybe later...
