Guest slinker
Green House Effect - Global Warming Artist: Green House Effect Title: Global Warming Label: HOM-Mega Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 08'08" Confused 02. 08'55" Global Warming 03. 07'15" Deep Cover 04. 08'26" Everlasting Sun 05. 08'11" State Of Mind 06. 07'13" Kfar Saba Blues 07. 07'07" Superfly (On The Fly Mix) 08. 07'52" End Of The World (Rmx) 09. 08'17" Eastern Rain (Club Mix) Review: Izik (Sandman) Levy has just released this new album under the pseudonym "Green House Effect"...after the previous outings and tracks from him I guess this will come as a surprise to some who are expecting the 3rd Sandman album, well I have to say I was surprised throughout the first listen, surprised at how talented this guy really is...to me this is such a beautifully crafted and melodic album which is wonderful just to sit down and chill out to, with nice thought provoking rhythms and ultimate trancy soundscapes all blended into a mind trip..what's more hear this in a club and there's enough bass and thump to satisfy any hard trance fan and send you into a unique sense of euphoria! track 1 isn't my favourite on the album...but is a nice chilled out tune with spacy voices and sounds...Global Warming the title track has some serious bass at the start which develops into a nice line with fx...breaks come into play before the end, a cool track! Deep cover great bass line and speaker to speaker fx...its a great how the tune evolves and these deep and diverse acid melodies fill the rest of it...one of the best on the album...Everlasting Sun is next with beautiful melodies and breaks all over the place that 303 sound is never far away, stunning melodies..great track! State of Mind reminds me of old euro hard trance with that godly angelic melody right from the start..with lashings of acid =^,^= Kfar Saba Blues really picks up the pace with a scorching bassline and kick followed by heavy percussion and real trancy backgrounds...killer! Superfly is a nice melodic spacy kicking track....End of the World has melodies galore and samples...ahhh bliss The last track Eastern Rain is another solid trance stormer...so melodic and beautiful and kicking all in one! To sum it up its a superb outing from my pal Izik who once again establishes himself as a very talented music maker who can change and evolve his technical expertise in many directions...pure Wonderful trance for chill and for dance! if you're a fan of old style melodic trance...don't hesitate to buy, and if your a fan of well produced ,intelligent hard trance..you couldn't go wrong! listen closely 9.5/10 Cheers Izik...keep em coming =^,^=
Guest Munky Business Corperation 2001
Sandman sold his creative soul to Mr.$ and Global Warning is the result. But credit where credit is due, this is a high quality club(!) album with some cool mellow tunes. Why the good man above describes it as old style melodic trance or intelligent hard trance is beyond me, this is primarily aimed at the clubs and probably an attempt to follow Yahel's recent dance chart successes. Psychedelic purist should therefore steer clear. However, the old Sandman spirit still wades a little through most songs and scarce psychedelic moments can be discovered (in the splendid Eastern Rain for example). For some this may be more evidence that Israel's main export product is cheese, for others this is a pretty good club trance experience. I prefer the 'old' Sandman, but I recognise a quality album when I hear one and this is one of them, although I cannot emphasise enough CLUB ONLY. Guest Trippin' Troll
Thanx for the worning Munky. nobody wants club in his collection... nor yahel...:-)
Guest 007
I don't really like club trance (nor much of Yahel's stuff either), but what sometimes makes me sad is that hardly anyone ever asks the artist if their new style (wether it be club, dark, melodic - whatever) is actually what they prefer to make now? Sometimes they like to move into something different than what they've been doing for 10 or 5 years. And if the result is a ' quality album' - cool. it's sometimes harder to move into this new genre/sub genre without being criticised for selling out, because one genre is going to always going to lose a respected artist. the other gaining one. Look forward to hearing it Izak
Guest slinker
This is Izik at his most melodic..and to me its something that deserves more than a catagory tag! maybe some well deserved recognition..yeah of course its not like the Sandman style but then thats why it was written under a different name! More Sandman music will follow believe me...Izik shows another side to his musical capabilites and from the turn out of the album i would say that hes done just that and very well indeed =^,^=
danger
I don't like club trance, but GHE is excellent! 10/10!

Guest GoBliN
much more different than psycho-toons. you can see the talent of itzik levi but i think he should leave this genre (club trance) and make stuff like his usual style
Guest tjoflong[at]hotmail[dot]com
I was about to buy this cd today. I listened to it for a long time in the store and I must say: its damn good quality! But I didn't buy it. Why? Well I think the "tune" was a bit too commersial... Guest e-head
A good album that definitely grows on you - club trance? Yeah, so what? There's room for all of it isn't there? We'd all like to be back in 1997 forever, with all the great shit around then - Pleiadians, Tandu, Shakta, etc etc, but things move on mate, especially production values - compare how well balanced the sound is here compared to, say, IFO. Love the sample - "Today a young man on acid discovered that all matter is merely energy condensed..."
Guest shagbagboy
Totaly agre with this e-head.... he realy put the finger on the spot.... Time changes and its time to move on, the old records aren't going to dissapear... You can still dig some old rec up and go back for a while, But who wants to be stuck in the past... I'm heading fore the future.... i give it 8/
Guest miltondurr[at]hotmail[dot]com
This is EXCELLENT!!!! Non-stop aural bliss!!!! Greenhouse Effect is Izik Levy, aka Sandman, who has SUPERBLY followed up his quintessial album "Psycho Toons" with a funfest of uptempo, psychedelic daytime trance, with the planet Mercury clearly visible in the horizon. The sound-imaging is clear and bright with fun sounds buzzing and whirring about in a spacious mix. The melodies, which can be odd at times, are peppy and upbeat with enough minor key overcast to keeping the cheeze factor at bay. The whole feel of the CD is light and mercurial, and the music has an unencumbered air about it that persists even in the darker tracks (which are excellent takes on the night trance sound). Yet, for as light and upbeat the music is, there's a very fun but dark undercurrent, like something playful and sinister lurking around the corner. A murder on the playground during recess? a crooked tooth in the hummus? a poisoned christmas treat? i can't say there's a song on here I don't like!!! All the tracks are well produced, musically fluid, interesting to listen to and are architectured with a nice sense of abstraction. And the pacing of the album is great too. I think I'm going to vote this album of the year 5 months early!!!!
Guest Global fan
its a brilliant album, sonically and aurally accessible and seductive. but more importantly, its FUN and manages to cover a number of musical styles yet remain 'psychedelic'. the first track could so easily be a Kenny Larkin piece, track two sounds like more aurally adventurous house music and tracks 3 and 6 (i think) are great daytime takes on the "night trance" style. i mean, its all obviously "goa"/"psytrance", but it manages to be other things at the same time and manages to be them rather well. Guest Quasarta[at]senseblender[dot]be
If I had to choose 1 album out of my collection, Global warming would be the one. I give it a 15/
Guest Phaedrus[at]austin.rr[dot]com
This album rules! Beautiful melodic trance in the same vein as Astral Projection and Blue Planet Corp. Not "club trance" or "cheesey" in the least. Listen to it at once! 9/10.
Guest SuttoXXX
I really dig on this disc. This disc has such a smooth and flowing sound. I'm absolutely obsessed with Sandman's Witchcraft, but this album is not even in the same ballpark as far as style goes. Shows you just how talented Levy is. 7/10. Guest baltazar_dr[at]hotmail[dot]com
Too simple for me, sounds like a 10 year old producer... Why the heck does trance has to sound like house or techno, why can't it just be trance? This is a trance site yes?
khogg
Club trance?? I don't think so folks. Definitely different than the regular Sandman style, which is a good thing in my books (he, he, here come the flames). Deep with many nice sounds and...oh no...god forbid...some melody. Yes, that's right. At times, this CD sounds musical. The horror.
khogg
Okay, so maybe it's a little club trancey, but so what If that's fine by you then you'll like this. Very nice.
