I read the reviews on Psynews daily, to see what's new and exciting.

One thing I've noticed (and I'd love to hear some intelligent answers on this) is why when especially a melodic trance CD is reviewed, there are at least 2 or 3 reviews saying something like "f*cking melodic sh*t".

Why be so aggro about it? I'm assuming that those reviews are written by minimal-trance lovers, so does that mean that they're all hardcore and live to only stomp around on a dancefloor without any interesting melodies to entertain the mind along the way? Both forms of trance have their place - even within the structure of a party. I find that attitude interesting amongst a bunch of people who, more than any other group of music lovers, are supposed to espouse love and acceptance of all.

Let's face it people, there's 2 types of music out there - good and Britney. If you don't like something, purely for the sake of not liking something, rather keep quiet and keep your ignorance to yourself.

The same goes for the people who automatically dismiss newer albums if they don't have that old school Goa sound. Psytrance is psytrance. Melodic or not, new or old, it is all psytrance.

:D Some statements tend to strike, when appearing at the right moment & place...=)

Genres fall apart, that´s a fact and sometimes it just can´t be prevented. I surely wouldn´t like to see "psy break into pieces"...but there are a lot of examples on these processes in the history of electronic music. Many of you must know that better than me, and some must already have discussed these things on this forum at lengths i guess.....

Oops, was this one of those "forbidden topics", actually? Well, what´s done is done:P
