Guest manuser7[at]aol[dot]com Posted January 2, 2001 Posted January 2, 2001 V/A - Goa Head 14 Artist: Various Title: Goa Head 14 Label: Nova Tekk Date: 2001 Track listing: CD 1 01. 06'16" Etnica : Technoshit 02. 11'05" Vibrasphere : Echo Plantation 03. 09'06" Chi-ad : Zero Barrier 04. 07'58" Paste : Play Off 05. 07'45" Psychonaut : Voodoochild 06. 07'41" Planet BEN : Reparaturbedürftig 07. 08'16" Electron Wave : Neuro Tranceiver 08. 08'46" Zerotonine : Medusa's Breath 09. 07'05" Dub Connected : Something Happened Here Last Night CD 2 01. 08'44" Son Kite : Driveshaft 02. 07'53" MOS : Comunique 03. 07'32" Dragon Master : Cyclone (Rmx) 04. 08'34" Feuerhake : Glowing Nights 05. 08'35" Intact Instinct : Achtungsbeschleuniger 06. 10'07" Bandit : Yash 07. 06'44" Marco Minichelli : Tekktra 08. 09'33" Tara Putra : Fabrique Intergalactique 09. 08'12" Hara Gobi : Coconut Walla Review: Minimal except some tracks. The first is an extract of Nitrox [Etnica"Technoshit"] : a techno track with a good voice ("You fucking piece of filth... When the fuck are you gonna get sick of that lousy technoshit?") : this track is OK?[Vibrasphere"echoPlantation"] : a good track (!!) quite entrancing. [ChiAD"ZerroBarrier"] : the most melodic track of this GoaHead, and one of the best! ?[Paste"PlayOff"] : too empty, nothing interesting : the worst track of the compil. [Psychonaut"Voodoochild"] : interesting track with nice guitars. [PlanetBEN"Repara?"] : a little boring in spite of a good passage between 4.30mn and 5.07mn, but it's too empty. [ElectronWave"NeuronTranceiver"] : awesome track!! maybe the best, not really minimal, and full on effects and dark sounds. [Zerotonine"MedusasBreath] quite boring. [DubConnected"Something?"] : i don't know what it is, and i don't give a toss? Then CD2 : it begins with a nice track [sonKite"Driveshaft"] : good rhythm, good percussions, good basslines. [MOS"Comunique"] : disappointing. I have excepted better from MOS. [DragonMaster"Cyclone(remix)"] : very good track, quite minimal, with a lot of effects, nice dark sounds, impressive basslines (!!) [Feuerhake"glowingNights"] : quite melodic but quite boring. [intactInstinct"Achtungs?"] : average. [bandit"Yash"] : average. [MarcoMinichelli"Tekktra"] : average. [TaraPutra"FabriqueIntergalactique"] : good track, with some good sounds and melodies. [HaraGobi"CoconutWalla"] : ????? ?So my favorites are "ZerroBarrier" , "NeuronTranceiver", "Driveshaft", but this Goa head is maybe too minimal for me; I give this 4.5/10. Buy it, and play it loud!, if you like minimal. Otherwise, compilation to avoid Quote
Guest Mipple Posted January 2, 2002 Posted January 2, 2002 Goa-Head compilations suxx in general... avoid this! Quote
Guest skincom[at]mullum[dot]com[dot]au Posted January 2, 2002 Posted January 2, 2002 Goa Head comps are ok if you dont have any of the material on other disks. If you do you run the risk of doubling your copies of some tracks. This comp no14 is ok if you like minimal. If you are into Psy trance you wiil know some of the artists at least. Nuff said.Mipple stop wasting sever space and tell us something about the music rather than generalising. Quote
Guest Infected Mushroom Posted January 2, 2002 Posted January 2, 2002 My opinion is that they should stop making goa compilations with techno, why call an album Goa-Head when there's nothing that even resembles goa on it? If you want goa get yourself the early Goa-Head albums. And if you're into techno I recommend this. Quote
Guest andre[at]psychoaktive[dot]org Posted January 3, 2002 Posted January 3, 2002 Can someone tell me why is this called GOA HEAD? I can't seem to hear nothing goa in it... Perhaps novatekk should consider changing the name of the compilations or else deliver some goa or psy trax. Quote
draeke Posted January 3, 2002 Posted January 3, 2002 early goa heads are a must i do own them all and i think i am going on cause except the doubles u may find a lot of material is available on vynil only and on these kinda compilation is the only way to get em good mastered at cd quality =) Quote
Guest Fuck Minimal Techno Posted January 5, 2002 Posted January 5, 2002 its not GOA trance... should be Techno head...or Shit head...techno lovers, please GET OUT!!! Quote
Guest [Anonymous] Posted January 5, 2002 Posted January 5, 2002 it's 2002 and psychedelic music has changed. 1998 is long gone! learn to deal with it without insulting other people's tastes. Quote
Guest laff Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 my opinion : : : : you shouldnt put techno on goa cds and you shouldnt talk filth bout others taste ! .. /lunarian Quote
Guest transphere Posted April 1, 2002 Posted April 1, 2002 Well, okay, about this compilation then: It's not the best Goa-Head, it's just another moderate one. Wouldn't really recommend it, still I don't say that you should avoid it. If you like hard minimal techno, buy it. My own favourites are: "Zero Barrier" (Chi-A.D.), "Comunique" (M.O.S.) and "Fabrique Intergalactique" (Tara Putra). Overall I think this compilation deserves 5/10, nothing more, nothing less. /transphere Quote
Guest kadafi Posted April 9, 2002 Posted April 9, 2002 Indeed... definetely not recommended to buy this one if you're looking for melodic/full-on stuff... i wouldn't even recommend it to psytrancelovers with a broader taste either... only 2 tracks are very good imo, these are from Vibrasphere (my favorite here) & Son Kite... and some good ones, like that driving one from Planet Ben and some morningwaves from Feuerhake...The Electron Wave track sounds good but.. faked... rating: 6,5/10 for CD1 & 5/10 for the second (which contains mostly bad stuff).... Guest Blue Penguin Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 i have to say that Bandit Yash is great, Vibrasphere track too, and the Son kite is good, but the MOS always stinks... Quote
Entheogen Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 zero barrier is nice track, others are crap (just my opinion) Quote
Manuser Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Lol a very old review of mine with terrible english but genuine feelings. Anyway I am listening to this again right now, Goa-Head compilations have really grown old. This one is no exception. I changed my opinion on Bandit (Yash), back in the day he was promoted as the israeli Atmos, his sound was quite interesting. I still find the MOS track terrible, I never understood it. Son Kite still awesome (superior to the whole scene at that time). Echo Plantation still as solid as a rock. The track by Paste is funny. But yes this is old, lots of fillers, lots of tracks with no identity, lifeless, dull. 2001 was a strange year. Quote
