Guest Stormbringer
Praecox - Gumoleum / Minigram Artist: Praecox Title: Gumoleum / Minigram Label: Hadshot Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'08" Gumoleum 02. 07'30" Minigram Review: This EP is made by Jerzy Prozdziecki, one of the members of Bigwigs (I hope I got it right this time?). If you´re familiar with their sound you´ll hear the similarities. "Gumoleum" (8/10) is very fast, about 150 bpm, and doesn´t sound so complex, but it´s still interesting even though it´s just a hard beat with noises on top. Some minimal tracks are so static that they become hypnotic, "Minigram" (9/10) is such a track. It´s sounds like it´s the same 30 seconds being repeated over and over again... forever! (07:30 to be exact). "Minigram" has this very hard furious beat with complementary scary echoes and that´s it! I think it´s pure wizardry to be able to create such a track, and I don´t understand how he can make it interesting when it´s so static. This kind of extremely monotonous music should be played in a really dark place with black walls and with massive amounts of stroboscopelight for maximum effect. There´s some people who think this kind of minimal static trance is pure crap, and I can understand them, but I don´t agree with them. If you want some kind of melody or variation in the music you listen to you should forget about this release because it´s pure hypnotrance suitable for trancedancers, not for the average homelistener. Guest AtomicCow
Minigram took a few listens to get. Since it's so minimal it doesn't stick in your head (except for that "Remove my ears" bit) so you have to keep going back to hear it again and again and it's really well done. Guest Neil
just like AtomiCow said, Minigram took quite a few listens to get into, I love the beat on the track, it has a certain flow to it tat could anyone moving if you threw this track at just the perfect moment. 9/10 for this track, minimal haters go elsewhere, minimal lovers eat this one up. I don't care much for gumoleum, the track doesn't move quite like the other side.
Guest Stormbringer
I don´t do drugs!!! I don´t need drugs!!! but I like industrial music and I really like to trancedance (dance until you almost leave your body). The best way to reach real trance (without any f...ing drugs) is dancing to monotonous music without any distractions. A dark place with lots of smoke and stroboscopelight is the perfect environment!!! "Minigram" is perfect for trancedancing! I like to go to forestparties too but that is something completely different. "I CANT BELIEVE someone can enjoy such a crap without hard drugs", ha ha! you sound like the swedish police!!! That´s what they use as an argument when stoping parties here in Sweden ;-
Guest strife[at]bezeqint[dot]net
NEAT. Praecox certainly does something for me in terms of music. hits me like no others do really, it has some sort of weird vibe going on that i pick up on and relate to often. though i dont think thats their intention....ive read numerous interviews with them saying not much about it. other than "its just what we do".....which is good. no use over analyzing it. anyway, praecox's music makes me think how large and complex i am in comparison with the molecules and subatomic particles whose physical properties dictate nature of life in the universe this is most definitely existential muzik. Abstract expressionism. in Art we have painters such as Mondrian who's core aim is to escape completly from the "naturalist" world. Look at the sleeve work, confield in particular, then look at some early 20th century abstract art. when Listening to Confield ,if you allow yourself to slip into deeper concentration, seemingly naturalist sounds are revealed as totally synthetic noises that are totally engineered from simple electronic fuzz. Praecox, keep on that great awesome job. (hey just copied from tromesa's review.. I think you both are the best psy ever) strife ICQ#311776 Eran
