Guest Baboon
Ticon - Gurk Burk Artist: Ticon Title: Gurk Burk Label: Digital Structures Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 09'13" Lo Mi Hi 02. 09'59" Gurk Burk Review: Just another of Ticons absolutly wonderful EPs... what can I say? As I´m a totaly Ticon lover... this is for sure a 10 pointer, only bad thing(?) is that they later on released "Gurk Burk" on the album. Anyway, to the tracks... T1 "Lo Mi Hi" starts out with the most typical Ticon atmospheric warm up sounds, and then the vibratic kickdrum comes wich Ticon invented! then at 5:30 the very small but (in my opinion) very cool and nice sampling and break comes, and it then takes of... T2 "Gurk Burk" wich in swedish means "Cucumber Jar" :oP, is also featured on the superb album, anyhow this one starts out a bit harder then first track, hard crounching bass... wich halfway into the song suddenly breaks into one hell of a melodie! very funky and groovy, and a very very good choice for morning stompin! You just cant stop smiling when dancing to this one 08:30 in the morning...hehehe... allthrough, an kickass EP wich is an must have for Ticon and morning tune lovers, otherwise yo! u might wanna hear it out over and out for now.... Guest Mescalinium
Also one of my favorite Ticon releases, especially since both sides kick ass! Even though the two tracks were released elsewhere (Gurk Burk on the cd version of the album and Lo Mi Hi on a split 12" on Dragonfly) it's not often you find an EP of this quality. 8/10.
