mars
Etnica - Hell's Kitchen / Trip Tonight Remix Artist: Etnica Title: Hell's Kitchen / Trip Tonight Remix Label: MDMT Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Hell's Kitchen 02. Trip Tonight Remix Review: Here it is!! I know you've been asking to all DJs And people you know for since 99 summer, since you heard those tracks during an Etnica live somewhere, and nobody never wanted to give them to you....you nearly turned mad during this year..."will i ever get this Trip Tonight remix?"...and eventually you dont have to look for unreleased of those (my own case? no....), they are simply on a vinyl in your favourite record shop !! Thanks MDMA!! Now the review : The style of this EP is closer to the Juggeling Alchemists & Alien Protein than Equator. Etnica are providing us with their oldschool style. like it or not, but its definitely different from Mindaltering Drugs / the Dominator EP Hell's Kitchen (played live by Etnica some time ago) is - to my mind - absolutely fantastic: not really fast, a bit repetitive, but so well done, so bewitching..so everything. the melody, the noises, the rhythm, the whole groove are good. Its a typical Etnica track, just twisted the good way, and a bit darker....It's just trippy to Hell !!! It's GOOD, that's all. Trip Tonight, remix of Trip Tonite on Alien Protein looks like its elder brother but more dancefloor oriented...you can regognize everything, and this remix was certainly worked on for ages before getting this pure mindfucking masterpiece. Its a long effective trip full of many tricks, well chosen noises, and mindbending evolutions And breaks. everything urges you to dance on it....rhaa hard to describe: If you never heard this before, you had better be in my shoes while I heard it the first time: Avi Algranati was playing it, people were nearly flying over the dancefloor! All was thought about: the track surprises you all along, and beware this break near the end: you might be mindshocked! If i had to compare this EP to another I could say that this is the true brother of Vimana/Plastic EP as it's the same style we oldschoolers love, the same quality (perfect), the same trip....Thanks ETNICA 10/10. Anoebis
I'm even listening to this EP at this moment and Mars is 100% RIGHT!!! It's a MASTERPIECE!!!!!! Both songs are rather slow (Hell's Kitchen 128 BPM and Trip Tonight 139 BPM) but still it fucking ROCKS!! Those melodies make you fly FAR away... ))) Shit, you better read the review of Mars, he said it completely right!!! ))) 10/10!!! Guest smg
Great EP, both are good tracks, in my opinion Hell's kitchen is better than trip tonight remix, though. I like those speech samples on trip tonight, those sound insane. No need to tell you about the tracks anymore, I guess other reviewers have pointed out everything that needs to be said. Etnica...you're the best!! 10/
Guest djsunkid[at]hotmail[dot]com
Excellent! I'm so glad that everybody here feels the same as I do about this record. As soon as it arrived and I played it, I knew that something amazing was about to happen. Trip Tonite original from Alien Protien was for years my favourite track, how it so slowly and carefully brings the vibe in. This remix doesn't have that, but it is much much better for dancefloors. My only complaint is that the speed is far too slow on Hell's Kitchen, and too fast on 45. But the melodies are SO HUGE that I have to give this release a 10/10 also... Guest Dead74
Yes, this is quality release from Etnica. These guys are just sooo good. I really like both of these tracks. I must say that even though it was released recently, it sounds more like the old Etnica. You know, more emphasis on the thick layers of melodies and constant driving kick. If you like Etnica, you'll dig this like none other. Although I really like the Spirit Zone Etnica, if you know what I mean. 8.5/
Guest [Anonymous]
This was released in 2000??? Wow! When I first heard Hell's Kitchen I thought it was from 96-97 and I somehow missed it. It really stands out from the other stuff released nowadays. Very melodic...strange voices in the background. This is one of my favorite tracks right now. I especially like that dark breakdown. And it's not dark because they have low bass or some spooky sound...it's all in the melody. My only complaint is that it's a bit long and it seems that they just repeat things a few times. part a part b part a part c part b...something like that. Trip Tonight is also a good melodic track. Can't say much about it other than that. Top release from Etnica who always amased me how their tracks have so much harmony and how all the melodies fit together so well. Mergi
The difference between Trip Tonite and Trip Tonight (Rmx) is not very big, same melody, almost the same speed and so on... but still they're quite different in the feel, because Trip Tonite is more Chill while Trip Tonight (Rmx) is more tweaked and psyched. Trip Tonight (Rmx) is also longer, and the track seems much more expanded both in length and in the sound, the melody is no longer soothing instead Etnica has tweaked it into one wicked psychedelic layer. Trip Tonight (Rmx) will get 9/10, a very interesting track from beginning to the end. Hell's Kitchen is also a very twisted track, lot's of things going on, interesting breaks and a scary sort of atmosphere. Hell's Kitchen is slower and the sounds are more dark to the feel, actually the melodies in Trip Tonight (Rmx) and Hell's Kitchen is totally opposite of each other. Trip Tonight (Rmx) has a more positive vibe while Hell's Kitchen has a very twisted and gloomy vibe. Still Hell's Kitchen is a good track, not as interesting as Trip Tonite (Rmx) though. Hell's Kitchen will get 7/10. EP total 8/10...
