Guest Protex Midget
pretty good album, but I wouldn't call it unique. Altom has a style which reminds me of Alien project, but with a more progressive touch... not bad: 6.
Guest woutski
A real good debut album, although a little disappointing that none of the tracks here can match their previous compilation tracks (which were more kicking and energetic). The production is top notch, their sound is good but none of the tracks really lifts-off, instead they remain a bit soft. But still this is essential morning music, light, funky and spacey with a crystalclear sound. 8/
pr0fane
Really good morning-stuff, and the album as a whole is very good. I can't say that any of the tracks are bad, but I would say that Intoxicated, Not From Concentrate, Magnetic Force and Some Place Else stands out as the highlights of the album. Really good stuff, and a must-have for the morning-hours. 8.6/
Children
The best album of this summer imho ! I really didn't expect such a great production from a debut album and a pretty unknown group ! How could be described this music ? Well ... hypnotic grooves, few background melodies to create an ambience in the tracks, huge work on the bass, percussions & ping pong stereo effects. I would certainly not compare it to recent TIP World stuff, as it sounds much more original, various & much less "random" in build-ups, which are very progressive and with no repetitive breaks as in typical GMS/Alien Project stuff. The last track, softer, is more tribal & oriental influenced too, simply AMAZING. Rating : 8/
Guest yan84[at]aquanet[dot]co[dot]il
Altom - Hologram Artist: Altom Title: Hologram Label: Neurobiotic Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 08'55" Some Place Else 02. 07'18" 200% 03. 07'17" Hologram 04. 08'48" Magnetic Force (Rmx) 05. 09'40" Not From Concentrate 06. 07'50" Intoxicated 07. 08'12" Up Grader 08. 08'03" Argos 09. 10'19" Plasma Review: 9 unreleased new trax from one of the most promising new acts of the moment, the french duo of Altom. We met already these two guys on TIP World, like on 3 D Vision and now on Neurobiotic rec. for their debut album. They developed their unique sound, creating full on holographic psychedelic soundscapes for powerful energetic morning hours, everything perfectly tuned and mastered at the Three Point Turn studios. Another gem is shiningE(Remind me a little GMS style)... by the way the best track is no. 9 I LOVE IT... and i will give it 10/
Guest Xymaths
It's a big sound and it's crystal clear-very solid stuff, won't sound good on a weak system but a big fuck off one will do this infinite justice-looking forward to hearing it outside. Slight critism though it's too percussive based, needs a alot more trippy sounds then I would give it the complete thumbs up.7/
Guest Dr Cheroot
awesome release!!! high-quality production, great grooves, very classy first album. Altom has carved out a whole genre for himself, somewhere between full-on and progressive, and won't fail to please fans of either extreme!! Guest Number4
Had this album for some months and really dug in the beginning but I've noticed more recently that this album lacks some serious diversity. Most of the tracks appear to have exactly the same structure with only slight variations in percussion and what there is of melodies. I do however like their "signature" sound and throwing in one of the better tracks, 2,3,4,5 ? into a set is definitely worth it. nice blend of psy and progressive. 6/
Guest Scottsmith
Very good album, after hearing a lot of albums with a few good songs and the rest filler it is good to hear a good solid hour of great psytrance. The album has diversity without stepping out of it's bounds, never a boring moment.
seraph
Pretty good album but nothing more than that...It is not that original as people say but they manage to create good patterns and sounds..It is very psychedelic, as usual with new stuff and yes, it does remind a bit on Alien Project...Still, they could have done it slightly more melodic...beside that, this is pretty good debut from them...Best songs are : SOME PLACE ELSE, MAGNETIC FORCE, NOT FROM CONCENTRATE, ARGOS ( ! ), PLASMA ( ! )....7.5/
