Guest Infected Max
Xerox And Freeman - Human Race Artist: Xerox And Freeman Title: Human Race Label: HOM-Mega Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 08'42" Karina (Rmx 1998) 02. 09'45" Bees (Live Mix) 03. 08'15" Kayazulu 04. 08'49" Gravity Waves (Zombie Rmx) 05. 08'28" Extra Hard Sounds 06. 10'07" Virus Hunter 07. 08'17" Impact Team 08. 08'38" The Human Race Review: This album is not really my "style". I can't say what i don't like in this one...maybe the SOUNDS....yeah that's it..i don't like the sounds they used...Too normal sounds...not really weirds & innovative (but this album was released a year ago or more so it's a bit normal)...!! Melodies are sometimes cheesy sometimes awesome...My favourite track is the Bees. The last (quite downtempo one is quite good too). The good part of the Cd is the groove....Xerox & freeman have a groove that give the will to dance The bad part is the production...i think sounds And samples are a bit weak compared to fat sounds we can here now....but have a listen before because lot of people like it in Israel...6/
Guest AtomikElf
i know a lot of people love this album, but i agree with max above.....somehow i don't really like it too much, i mean, it's okay to listen to every now n then, but then i put it back in my collection and it stays there until i feel i should give it another try (which is not very often). i'm left wondering what all the hype was about this cd....that's why i bought it in the first place - not a cd i would recommend. 5.5/
Guest Eyal Yankovich
I think Human Race is one of the best Israeli-Goa trance albums to come out of Israel in 1998. I agree that the sound production was not the best(although KARINA (Rmx), BEES(Live Mix) and EXTRA HARD SOUNDS are Top Notch productions) , BUT the style of music, the groove, the energy flow was as impressive as it gets. This group was so inspiring to many artists who started to "defect" to the painfull, monotonic techno-trance scene and after hearing Xerox And Freeman's album they moved back to the Psy Trance scene. Guest cosmo[at]futaba.ne[dot]jp
OK, a lot of it sounds very normal, but Extra Hard Sounds is my all-time favourite tune. The sample's a bit naff, but you expect that from Israeli artists. I saw/heard Planet BEN play it here in Japan and it made me cry, it was so good (I was totally straight too). Give it another listen, it's got an amazing groove to it. Get the album for that one tune!
Guest Snow Dog
Perhaps the finest example of the Israeli "cyber" sound, hard but still melodic, I love it. Full of psychedelic power and sonic richness, and you just can't sit still to grooves like these, you have to get up and dance! 10/10. Guest Acidhive
I have to agree with Snow Dog here, Xerox And Freeman is excellent. I bought this album some time ago, after hearing some great songs from them on numerous compilations, notably Are We Happy on Goa Head vol. 7 and Eternal March on Israels Psy Trance Part 3. This album is filled with their hard and uplifting sounds, and it is really great. I have to say though, I had to get used to it first. But when I put on my headphones and listen to this loud, it moves me ...!! 8/10 here.
Guest HiGen
Well, i just bougth the album direct from phonokol web shop from israel, and the cd-cover was smashed because of security checks, but anyway, i liked the style on some of the tracks, like Infected Max said, bees, it was just great, i also liked the first track, when the takeoff was transposed to another scale instead of just going with the same note, well anyway, i liked what i heard, a lot of groove, 7/10 here
Guest contact[at]digital808[dot]com
Ever wanted to get pissed drunk, take your microphone and run around the city RANDOMLY recording different samples of a dog humping a dor, two people laughing, maybe an occasion toilet flush. Then taking all of this back to your studio and dumping it in on top of a couple of synth lines you worked the night before... well if you have wanted to do this I am afraid that Xerox and Freeman have beat you to it! I am sorry but instead you will have to sit and compose something that is strong and logical. God, I have no clue how some of these companies can release this type of random noise music. What the hell? 4/
seraph
Good energy, rough trade but in fact not that clever and put together album. KARINA is the best on album, after which BEES comes and KAYAZULU. Rest is ok, but just that, they are not bad...only track 4...so 5/
