Guest Pit-UFO
Cypher - I Music Artist: Cypher Title: I Music Label: Twisted Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 06'26" 7 Theories Of Human Nature 02. 06'20" Dubientish 03. 05'50" Anaesthesia 04. 10'17" Do You Wanna Do It? 05. 06'41" Riding On A White Rabbit 06. 06'49" Are You Near Death Experienced? 07. 06'44" Starting To Feel Very Weird 08. 05'43" Alternet 09. 05'38" Opium 10. 09'11" Alternet (Deedrah Rmx) Review: Not really a psychedelic album, but is released on TWISTED and the head of this project is Dado aka Deedrah and its really GREAT. Its a record full of techno, breakbeats, god humour, talent and imagination. TRACK 2 is a fantastic And intelligent track with a sample from Tears for Fears "Shout" that suddenly becomes a dub song. TRACK 4 with Beavis And Butthead starts as a joke and evolves into a really smooth uplifting trance. TRACK 5 sounds commercial but really works with the crowd. TRACK 6, Dado meets Joujouka. TRACK 1 AND 7 are very dark specially TRACK 7 that has some great bass sequences and samples. TRACK 8 And 9 are more chilled oriented. I specially like the peacefulness of OPIUM. The mix from Alternet its very different from the original and sounds a lot like Transwave. Not for goaheads. If you like Deedrah´s first solo album, then you will love this one. 9/
Guest AtomikElf
not "goa trance" (and i use the term loosely)....more like psychedelic electronica with an underlying funkiness to it. 6/
Guest [Anonymous]
Trying a little hard and not quite hitting the target, although Riding on a White Rabbit is a pretty cool song.
Guest setorsetor[at]hotmail[dot]com
There should be more sound experiments like this...not everybody must do full-on trance all the time! Really interesting.
Guest dope69[at]gmx[dot]de
well, as the others said, not really goa, more experimental but decent... yes! and the alternet rmx is a killer, indeed.
khogg
Trance inspired mellow, funky, trippy music. Some tracks have awesome stereo effects in them (the intro to Dubientish comes to mind). Check it out if you can appreciate music that deviates slightly from the psytrance mold. Personally, I am totally satisfied with this one. Deedrah (and friends) strikes again!... Guest Reflekshun
Yep i agree with khogg completely, it's not completely psytrance formulated, but it maintains a great trippiness about it.. and it fucking creative - FRESH.. we need albums like this to keep the scene alive, moving and growing.. And all that aside i just love this album it's top shit, the slap bass is amazing
vision
The politics of Simon Posford's record label Twisted is to publish only quality music, despite not to do it often. And Cypher - I music is thast this kind of release. This album consists of such differen trax, that they are required to be discribed detally, before owerviewing the whole album. 1. 7 Theories Of Human Nature is a night killer, not to fast, but very dark and scary. Great sounds and effects. 2. Dubientish - is excellent psy-dub track, peacefull and hitting at once. Great pice of work. 3. Anaesthesia - experemental trippy psy-trance, something new in industry. 4. Do You Wanna Do It? starts with groove that comes to funky-house, then evolvs into uplifting acid trance. To long I think. 5. Riding On A White Rabbit - first steps in psytechno, but not very hard. 6.Are You Near Death Experienced? - psychdelic breackbeat with good guitar, strings and drums. 7.Starting To Feel Very Weird - again a slow trip to psy-trance, with a lot of interesting samles and unexpected sounds. 8.Alternet - sound like soundtrack on a background of some detective movie. But again a very interesting instrumental track. 9.Opium - just magnifecent. This melody, this strings, this drums. Universal music. 10.Alternet (Deedrah Rmx) - absolutely different from the original version. A masterpice in mourning psy-trance. The best track on the album. Wondrefull album we have in the end. Great work made by Dido (ex Transvawe) in collaboration with his friends from France. We hardly need albums like that to appear more often for developing psymusic industry and culture. Expect to hear more from Cypher group.
Drosophila
Great stuff, just rediscovered this one in my collection, a great twisted release! Very pitched down and experimental music, great for summer days This is one of the rare kinds released in '99, great job by JC Morin, S. Hoareau, F. "Dado" Holyszewski! I can remember it took me some time to get into the tracks back then, but now I am right back in there again! Fav 1,2,3,6,7,8,
