Guest Ubik
V/A - Infinite Excursions 1 Artist: Various Title: Infinite Excursions 1 Label: TIP Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. 09'47" Shpongle : Rumours Of Vapours 02. 09'48" Elysium : Atmosphere 03. 08'30" X-Dream : Relax Vortex 04. 09'27" Anesthasia : Plastic Birth 05. 05'45" The Antidote : Kicking Test 06. 09'20" The Overlords : Sundown (Ionizer Rmx) 07. 08'51" Typhoon : Prelud 08. 10'06" The Infinity Project/Hallucinogen/Total Eclipse : The Mystery Of The Yeti Review: This comp is between ambient and harder stuff. First track, even if not my favourite on the Shpongle album, is a great ambient track that starts well the cd. The name says it all for the second track, which is also ambient. The X-Dream track is like the other X-Dream tracks : it's good, but a little too repetitive. Fourth track is the only one I don't like, the melody is kind of annoying. Fifth track is pretty happy, but too short to be really good. Track 6 is great, the hardest track of the cd. Seventh track (from the same guys than Antidote and Total Eclipse) is good, but sounds a little old. Last track is ambient again and ends well the cd. 8/10. Get it if you can. One last thing : very poor cover artwork...
Guest psytrancer
Kicking test is AMAZING, very cool cd and ubik is right - if you can get it then do! - great very late or very early when you're almost ready to chill out but still want a good beat
Guest Tequila
I don't how TIP dared to sell an album with a such poor cover artwork...You see the cover above, it sucks!!Anyway, it's the music I have to review, not the cover..What to say about the music in this comp'? Well, what I really like is that it is always beetwen ambient and goatrance...I like both styles so that's great. The melodies are great, really unwinding, especially for the ambient stuff, and the tracks fit perfectly together, that's nice because I hate comps where it's not so.My favorite track is Sundown, maybe the hardest one, but probably the nicest too:) 7.5/
Guest [Anonymous]
I have to say I disagree about the cover art - I'm not saying it's anything special, but the original TIP compilations (the four coulours) had all gone along the hindu theme - Rolling Shiva, and in this case the Shiva Lingam. Their designs were simple and memorable. As for the music, I think it is the least powerful of the the three I.E compilations, but there's some tasty morcels in there anyway. bomble
Guest overkilled
maybe the cover art makes a point.... no matter how bad it looks.... you still buy the album for the music inside, and therein lies the magic.... problem with much of 2days society (computer games, movies, clothing, cars).... everything looks great on the surface, but underneath is very shallow or breakable or badly made.... fuck marketing - buy the real thing...get infinite excursions
