Guest [Anonymous]
oooooooook guys... enough is enough!!! Astral Projection is the best goa/psy group that made trance what it was in the past and what it is now. If you don't like them anymore then i suggest moving on the another group (if you have then power to you) which should not be very hard these days the way groups are flying coming out (i must add all these new groups are now-a-days are very un-inspiring). Their new remixes are works of work as well as some of there best masterpieces should be remembered as well as all their other albums Axis v0.99 & Burning Up have a lot of feeling in them Electrostatic was similar to one of their old tracks but had a new type of rhythm to it (it could of been just a tad bit longer). Regardless if you new to A.P. or a an old LOYAL fan i recommend this compilation. Overall this Compilation gets a 9/10. Astral Projection, California Sunshine, MFG, & X-Dream forever!! Guest mazzive
this album is more of the same, same as 96, same songs released over and over with some shitty treatment "remixes" and 4 new fillers. This double CD contains nothing really interesting, is the same old Israeli kind of trance with clubby influences, full on Goa, as in 1996. Perhaps I'll have to send these guys a 2001 calendar and take them to go around the world to show them how the trance scene has been changing since we all listened Let There Be Light 105 times a day. Astral Projection: please UPDATE YOUR STYLE or stop making noise...please!!!!
Guest petrsmisek[at]seznam[dot]cz
A.P. is one of the best band, with very exciting music, which is so poverful and spaceful that is unbelievable. More of this music. Petr from Czech rep.
Guest new yorker
i guess people bitch cuz they already have most of these trax, but now astral made it so that they have to buy it all over again, since they are now beautifully mixed together )) smart move by astral, 95/100; its sad that we only get to hear it once for the first time, really beautiful
Jon Cocco
AP should have waited with the 4 totally knew tracks, until they had enough for a new album. I can't buy stuff (re-mixed or not) that I already own. Axis and Burning Up is really good, but what about Virtual Booster, State of Mind, 10 Minutes To Sunset and Celestial Groove??? Are those their new tracks? ...? Cause if they are, they would have gone great with Solid Electronics, Axis, Burning Up, etc... I don't reccommend buying this album even if you havn't heard all these tracks. They were taken from different albums made at different times and it just doesn't feel the way it's supposed to. AP basically made a compilation of most of their best stuff, but why bother cause most of it is awesome anyway? Why disrupt the way the albums these tracks were taken from were originally made to be heard? You shouldn't alter perfection in my opinion, even with new remixes. The best way is to buy each of AP's albums if you don't already own them. Listen to them the way they were meant to be heard.
Guest Jikkenteki[at]extranormal[dot]or
Everyone wants their favorite group to be succesful until they actually do become succesful. AP are at a damned if they do, damned if they don't point in their career. No matter what they do, some section of their group of fans will complain. If they change their sound, they are accused of "just following the trends". If they "stay true to their roots", the other faction complains that they are out of ideas and just throwing stuff out for the money. It is an inevitiable thing for any group that has been around as long and has had such a high standard of output. Any album they release will "not stand up to the old stuff" in one sectors eyes. If they release a comp. with a few new tracks, they are just "cashing in", but if they don't release anything, they are "ignoring their fans". (How much do you want to bet you will see many of the same arguements when the next Hallucinogen album comes out). No matter what they do, not everyone will be happy, so let's look at this release for what it is. It is a comp., a "best of" as it is all from the same artist, and not an album, so it seems kind of strange that everyone is complaining about a lack of new material. I mean, isn't that what just about all comp.s are? A collection of tracks released elsewhere with a few new tracks thrown in? It is mixed, a fact clearly labeled in the title. A quick look at the track listing will reveal what tracks you have and what you don't. If you have most of it, you already know it and shouldn't really complain about having bought a disc with tracks you already have. The way some people are reacting, it is as if AP renamed all the songs and tried to pass this off as thier newest album. This comp. is ideal for the newer listener. With AP being around as long as they have, it should be no surprise that there are a few "generations" of fans, and this comp serves as a good overview of what they have put out. There are some new tracks and some new versions of older tracks to keep things from being completely rehashed, and some original versions as well, as any comp will have. It is mixed, so the whole package is different from the umixed versions the originals where released as. Considering that alot of AP's older stuff wasn't too easy to get ahold of for awhile there, this comp not seem like such a terrible idea. The mixing is top notch, it flows well, and it doesn't try to be anything its not (namely- a new AP album). If this was two discs of the exact same versions of their previous tracks, with one new track (the standard for most "best of" discs), I could more readily see accusations of just trying to cash in, but to my eyes, AP put alot more work into making this something more than a genric "best of" than most groups would have. For what it is, it is quite good and for the newer fan it is a great introduction to a wide range of AP material. If you want a mixed best of, this is the ticket. If you are looking for a new album, well... wait for the new album. But of course, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Guest mikefdwyer[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]u
Astral were, are and always will be the gods of trsnce. I love every song on this comp, even though i own all the albums. The mixing is awesome, the build up and story telling is amzing and if you thought this was a new album, what the hell do you thien InThe Mix meant??? If you look at any title that is similar to this, you will realise that it means it is a dj mix, and a great one. Nuff said Astral rock andthats final. Even their commercial songs are a cut above the rest and contain many goa vibes, especially the bubbly 303 type riffs and basslines!! Good on AP, may you enjoy all the cash you earn coz you desrve every fucking cent!! Mike D
Guest rroots[at]goatrance[dot]com
I agree with lotsa comments. I own all previous albums and they're way better than this one. what's up with this clubish-cheesy-poppy-sorta like dj tiesto trance track? Â AP always been good in the past. ive seen them "live" last year and it was awesome. if you never heard AP live, this is almost what its sounds like *unless you have 20000 watts of sound in your living room* Â they should come up with more stuff like Dancing Galaxy,Kabalah and mahadeva. Guest icydeus[at]caramail[dot]com
In the Mix is the only Astral album I own, and I like it a lot. First of all, it's a good idea to make a compil of all they've done before, I'm not forced to buy their 4 previous albums. And contrary to what everyone think, I like the switches and the mix between each track. Yes sure, some remixes are awful ( like liquid sun cass&slide, or life on mars ), and new tracks are very weak ( axis v.099, electrostatic -too short ! 4'44 & Burining up ). But there are killers tracks on it, especially on the sunrise CD ( 1,3,4,5,7,8,9 ), and this double CD can give a taste of what AP can do, at least ;and it's very danceable. Yes, I love old AP stuff, even 5 years later ! The best are aurora borealis, people can fly, and mahadeva ! 8.5/
Guest Jason - Los Angeles, CA
Astral is great melodic stuff to drift off into space with. Mahadeva is still the best melodic trance song in my opinion and I still get chills everytime I hear it. Astral was the first trance act I saw live. I think it was 96 (Tokyo's Club Heaven). Man they are great. If you like their style, but don't own a lot of their music, than pick this one up. It is a way to re-live their music from then until now. A lot of people don't care for it, but I also like the Astral Files album.
khogg
Very nice. Usually, I hate mixed CD's, but I've got most of these tracks full length already, so it's nice to have them mixed together. This should have been a 3 CD set, the two mixed ones plus a CD with the new songs full length. If you like AP, then you will like this. Contrary to what some have said, I really like the new mix of Liquid Sun (it doesn't sound anything like the old one, but is good). Burning up is good too, in a more standard trance kinda way. The remix of Dancing Galaxy is just as powerful as the original but with a killer build up added to it. I'm not dissapointed with this one like many seem to be. Guest alxandar[at]freemail.org[dot]mk
This ain't new album, this are old tracks, remixed and set on 2 CD,as one big (shit) commercial album, only for one purpose. Money ! Â And one more thing. The songs are all (almost) with the same rythm, so that means that they have done this to easy the job of the djs. Â However, i like most (track): People can fly & (album): Astral files...so, hope no further staff like this one. Â p.s. I got this album as a birthday present for my 18th birthday. Â So long... seraph
Sheer brilliance...Never mind cause of only 4 new tracks( and they are AMAZING especially AXIS VO.99 that is one of their best songs EVER )..mix is simply wonderful, one of the best around....So, if you are new to trance GET THIS ALBUM WITHIN FEW SECONDS OF READING THIS...cause this is absolutely amazing compilation....10/
Guest [Anonymous]
Well i don't understand what is the problem with that double CD Album?I think that here are the greatest Astral Projection songs and it is absolutely enough for "best of" CD.Buy no,not only the best tracks, even more - some remixes are also added to tha compilation.Probably not the best remixes, some of them are worse than the original songs but this is another view of that song so a little bit more respect for that please!well till now it seems great - all great tracks + some good remixes -all of that in one album. But no,AP gives you even more - some new tracks - Virtual Booster - not really "new" ,maybe "unreleased" is the right adjective but it does not matter- the song is nice.Electrostatic - another good track, though it is too short - less than 5 minutes.Axis v0.99 - heh some guys, maybe in order to show how "tough" are they call that song "commercial","cheesy",etc.Well guys when you call that song commercial do you realize that instead os this double CD,AP could release 3 different CDs - one "best of",one "remixes" and one with the four new tracks and some other "cheesy, commercial, crappy" songs? And they will achieve greater financial success than with that double CD. The truth is that AP have put the maximum number of tracks in that album and just for you,not to make money or something like that.Don't you think that they do not need that money?Well I'll tell you something - APcame to my home country three times.and the price of the tickets was symbolic - 4$ well if you call that commercial I do not know what is not commercial for you. Guest Warnoggin
This album has received a lot of criticism on the grounds that it isn't anything new, which is true, but people are actually overlooking the fact that it's a briliant album. It has all the best A.P. songs and it's very well mixed not to mention the fact that there's 2 CD's worth. this album is perfect for anyone who isn't too familiar with A.P. or anyone who hasn't got much of their stuff but likes their sound, on the other hand if you're an A.P. maniac like me then then there's really no point in telling you that there's nothing new on this album because like me you will buy it anyway. overall 9/10 (10/10 if you don't already own A.P.'s other albums)
Ormion
I don't see any reason at all why not give to this album a 10/10. All the classics are in there and the remixes are all very good! (except the Cass & Slide rework which is a disaster IMO). Plus, the AP vs Trilithon track is one of the best Trance tracks ever made! Â So, 10/
Ormion
My fav tracks: Flying into a star(astr-roid remix) and Virtual Booster the portamento on the flying into a star remix is crazy The ast-roid remix is way better than the original IMO and the most crazy AP track together with Life On Mars.
