Guest AlexG
nonono! this is not at all a good compilation. the word is b-o-r-i-n-g! and im sooo tired of that cheesy, poorly produced atmos track. i think that track is his worst ever, and usually i love his stuff. 6/10 overall
Guest Ubik
V/A - Joker's Files Artist: Various Title: Joker's Files Label: MDMA Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'17" Freak Disciple : Stalking The Wild Controller 02. 10'00" Atmos : So Nice You Name It Twice 03. 06'42" Shiva Chandra : Reorganic 04. 08'23" Vibrasphere : The Open Sphere 05. 06'40" Tristan : Stalking The Wild Controller 06. 09'09" Coneheads : Infatuation 07. 07'50" Phoetus : Groovy Symptons 08. 08'51" Yumade : Triphased Review: This is not as good as the Under Construction comp in the modern psytechno style, but there are a couple of tracks that stand out and the rest is still ok. First track I don't like a lot, something is missing. So nice you name it twice is an excellent song by Atmos, one of his best I think, with a fast bassline and a quite uplifting melody. Next track by Shiva Chandra is good, taken from the Lunaspice album, sounds a little organic with an intelligent rythmic structure built around voice samples. Vibrapshere delivers a cool track as always, with a pounding bass line, swirling synths and light echoed sounds on top. Tristan track is good with a funny sounding synth. The next two tracks are nice, but there's nothing special. Last track by Yumade stands out : cool intro, and some minutes after the bass and kick are there, a very heavy sounding synth plays some sort of melody. Overall 7/10 Just wondering : is it right that 1 and 5 have the same name ? It's inside the cover, too, so it can't be a typing mistake... Guest rdorn[at]cyllene.uwa.edu[dot]au
yes yes yes! this is a good compilation. you've got tristan involved in 3 tracks (1,5,6 that's why 1 and 5 are the same name). you've got atmos, vibrasphere, yumade and the rest is good too. how can you go wrong? it's quite minimal but if you like the style of those bands you won't be disappointed. 8/10.
