Guest ASTonACID
Kopsses - Kopsses Artist: Kopsses Title: Kopsses Label: Doof Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Reflex 02. Kopsses Event (Rmx) 03. Doo-Z-Ness 04. Deep Breath 05. Puble Diplome 2002 06. Hi-Way 07. Squid 08. Final Fantasy 09. Fluffy Thing Review: The first track is called 'Reflex'. The start is just perfect. The samples are used well and have a fierce effect. Wow what a beginning! This is an alien acid attack. She screams along with a pulse full of acid. Stomping madness with some abrupt changes. The melody is a helpful guide towards the end. Right this one goes straight to the front of my CD case... sold already. The second track is 'Kopsses Event' and the rolling up-beat bass-line is so nice to hear after the last track. Cleverly placed. The hats soon come and you can start to go even crazier. The subtle and not so friendly acid sound squelches along the sides of the walls, the bass drops, comes back and then more percussion. I'm marching for glory here folks. We then get to a state of bass and spacey sample. You know its coming and when she hits the tribal influence takes you to the jungle. Feeling happy and swinging everything I've got those acidic walls return to bounce off of. We have another winner. Track3 is called 'Doo-Z-Ness'. and feels harder and a bit of a meanie. The funky percussion arrives which is backed by a dark destroyer bassline. Its aggressive with some great sounds. It seems to go crazy and very strange towards the middle. The bass also changes just to make even more hairs stand up on my back. This may bring on paranoia, does the job though :-) Track4 is called 'Deep Breath' which starts with a nice up for it sound. Digital waves swoop over and I couldn't help focusing on those high pitched clinks. The tune really starts to roll as a wave of acid hits and there is again some lovely percussion throughout. The mushed up voice sample is a nice touch. Its quite thrashy to. The break comes as a surprise and when it drops you will be smiling. Its pretty twisted and punchy. The end is an all out psycho frenzy. Enjoy! Track5 is called 'Puble Diplome 2002' and starts with a thud believe me... Its more fullon and races off almost straight away. I'm gritting my teeth already. Bags of energy on offer and also some really sickly loops that may blow chunks. It rips off even harder and its not taking any prisioners. In fact it just seems to get even more angry. Fast and furiious with lots of ripping sounds - go nuts. Track6 is called 'HiWay'. It begins quite drum and bassy but you will soon be saying "And Thats The Bass'". Awesome sound here as she pumps home. More fullon madness with a very phat soound. The drums clank their triumph and are soon joined by squeaks squelches produce by knob abuse. The break prepares you with a brilliant sample. We then get a nice bit of drumming that is so well executed. Bongos are on the go to. What finally arrives I can only describe as dance floor massacre. I've got to try this one and play it out. If you have any heart conditions leave well alone. In my set for sure. Acidic trance like no other. YAHhhHAHHHHHAhaaah! Track7 now and after that last one I'm wondering if I need to take a few weeks break..... Its called 'Squid'. Not one of my favorite dishes normally but this time I've been proved wrong. We're pounding away from the word go but in a marchy snappy fingers way... for a while ... then things start to change and although groovey I felt a dark presence. Things chug away and clank towards you. Its got some sprial sounds up high and it does get into a nice rhythm that keeps progressing to a huge break thats actually fueled with emotion and builds excitement in a blinding way. Different and beautifully layered you can tell these guys have a lot of music talent. A big Jigsaw puzzle put together without one piece missing. Track8 is called 'Final Fantasy'. It starts in a classical mood and bangs straight in. The piano is unworldly but we soon leave all that behind, shift into cruise control and we're off. I like those bongos and the break is at the same high quality. Lots of delicious sounds and a guitar that sends out some terrific noises. Plenty of energy and excitement. Get down and Boogey. This has more of an uplifting sound as we are shown how creative these guys can be. Bags of emotion that made me love this track. Track9 and the final tune on here is called 'Fluffy Thing'. This one is a bit more fluffy I have to admit. Not as fullon or heavy as any of the others. A bit of a morning tune really. Clever and enjoyable but not as rocking as the rest of the album. In my opinion Doof have once more put out on the market a cutting edge psychedelic monster and no-one should be able to deny its quality. The production is class A. Anyone who likes acid trance should not be without it either. If I was you I'd go and buy a copy as soon as you can.9.9999999/10 ASTonACID aston@psychedelicmarket.com www.psychedelicmarket.com
