Guest Pit-UFO
Beat Bizarre - Lewd Artist: Beat Bizarre Title: Lewd Label: Iboga Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Pony Sauce 02. Monochrome 03. Brain Drain (Rmx) 04. Depth Pitch 05. The New Breed 06. Error 07. Funk Fluid Review: From the Iboga HQ comes a triumphant CD that fortunately takes their kick drums into 2001 and takes the word "bored" out of their reviews. This is an amazing collection of delicious, groovy, funky, minimal and cool tracks cooked with precise samples and elegant effects. Perfect to warm up every party or to start a new day with style. The CD is really enjoyable from beginning to end because Martin (Audiopile) and Rene really know how to keep the balance in the edge. My favourite tracks are the powerful remix of Brain Drain and the alien sounding Error. 9/

Guest didge
I loooove this album! The production is so clean and warm! For me it's the basslines that make this album awesome! Chuck in wicked sound effects, wicked drum loops and wella - my favourite minimal album so far! Favourite tracks are brain drain, error, and depth drain, but all tracks do it for me. 9/
Guest ArchNemesis
Beat Bizarre... what can be said, except its an album which delivers nothing but good Iboga-styled psytrance, filled with rythms and sounds. I have no actual favorite, maybe Monochrome or Brain Drain RMX, but I think all of the tracks on this album are fantastic, and I hope to see a lot more Beat Bizarre soon. Guest [Anonymous]
I am starting to like minimal more and more. Also this album toke some time from me to like, at first i really didn't get it. I liked the pounding beats, but if that's the only thing it gets boring after a while. But a few listens later i really dig it! I am right now listening to it and am just amazed by the enegetic and freaky atmosphere it creates by the seemingly random sounds, that most sertenly are less random then at first contact may be heard. It's all well produced and the bass is really loud and everything is well balanced. I can really recommend it to every one! 8.5/10 (just for the sake of rating!) Guest cubica (cubic lab)
This is the best deeptrance album all time. Great detailed sound, with a soooo good mastering and dynamic. Percussions is great, so clean and warm. Basslines is so thick and heavy. The only thing i dont like is that theres only 7 tracks on it
Guest bassybeats
some of the pure roling base lines lewd has cracked out deserve every respect, I stomped in joy as brain drain hit the floor. I think that track 5 (the new breed) has the darkest sounds I have heard for a long time. I found it in psychedelic dream temple in camden if anyone is looking for it. GaySatanicHippie
This is THE SHIT!!!!!!! No one goes as deep as Beat Bizarre goes. Rolling Basslines, phat kicks, TRIPPYYYYsounds everywehere, it just descends more and more to the center of the earth. My favs. are Funk Fluid and Monochrome, but all others are at least 9/10 too. I also love the cover and the title of this CD, it all fits together perfectly, it is just one long and dark trip to insanity. This is pure hypnotizing highly psychedelic trance that lets you fill inthe blanks with your own head, while giving you the "support from below" that you need. 10/10, no doubt about it. Beat Bizarre is the future, i hope to hear more!!!!!

Guest Xymaths
Yes this is what I will call the "Rolls Royce" of minimal trance-not a lot of it turns my head but yes this was good. Lets call this minimal trance 101-beginners introduction. As for shit like Ticon, well they can fuuck off!!
Guest the dank man
A classic for minimal psy-trance; not as technoish as wizzy noise, and very very danceable. Perhaps, just a notch progressive, but definitely not overdone (like monoclone, for example), and stays very psychedelic thruout. I loved it spun in a small warehouse-type setting, didn't really like it in my car stereo (but that was morning and I was pissed off that I have to go to work), but now love it again thru my comp -- it's a mood thing, so don't just listen to it once. Minimal tends to grow on you unlike nothign else.
Setsuko
great, amazing... incredible hypnotising... wow, this is my style for the dancefloor... clear sounds, stomping beats and basses... and a groove which makes you go nuts on the dancefloor... good work... my favourite tracks are 'pony sauce', 'brain drain (rmx)' and 'funk fluid' ... it sounds refreshing like a new breeze through psyland...psychedelic rating : 9/10 (no doubt about that)
Guest Tomvcarter
When i first bought this i was disapointed, but i gave it another chance, and could not belive what i had been missing. Funky, dark, atmospheric, extremly inteligent, amazing baselines (Depth pitch), killer percussion (Brain Drain), and it all sounds sooooo good together. Have a fat spliff and shake your ass to this in your bedroom! I heard brain drain in a club recently, and it is fucking amazing to dance too. If you like reefer decree think darker and more atmospheric. Cant think of anything wrong with this release, exept that i want more! 9.5/10. Guest kadafi
this again will be a 'Waaw-review'... I think Iboga has the most well-produced pithy kicks ever... I love them... They are hard to describe (just listen to this alb. or Reefer Decree's or Logic Bomb... those are the true stomp-kicks imo!) Also, this alb. didn't take any time to 'grow on me'... I liked it right away; ignoring the power of those kick-basses is not an option! Favorites: Brain Drain rmx (This must be the absolute killergroove on the whole alb! It just keeps on going! like the Hux-Flux-sample: 'I'm feeling sensation...') Pony Sauce (Kickkickkickkick...ba-haha-ssbababa... just great!) Depth Pitch (this one is the perfect example of that pithy Iboga KICK I keep moaning about... but it has some weird breaks indeed...) Monochrome (great vibe, but some sounds in it are just 'to much'...) Overall...this is piece of plastic is superb...and one of my favorite minimalalbs all time... 8,5/
khogg
I like all tracks except for #6 (Error). Favorites: Brain Drain RMX, Funk Fluid, Monochrome, and The New Breed (in that order). I think the style of this album has been well described already, so I won't elaborate. Those of you who won't like this should be able to tell easily from the reveiws. From my point of view, the album does sound very similar throughout. Like all 'minimal' stuff, I have to be in the mood for it. When I am, this really sounds good, especially Brain Drain! : )
Guest Epic Automata
I originally ordered this album thinking it was more tech-oriented. I was initially disappointed to hear that it was actually in the minimal vein, a genre that wore out its welcome with me many months ago. That said, I find this to be a great album. The soundwork in particular is phenomenal. If I were the creator of an epic sci-fi movie I'd want these guys making the sounds for the machines and the plantlife of my alien worlds, as well as the music for any tense action sequences. I'm also very impressed with Beat Bizarre's ablility to keep the extremely repetitious low end from getting boring by attaching sounds and incredible percussion to the foundation like barnacles on the hull of a streamlined ship. Unlike many acts, these guys know how to attack with sounds, then get out, stab then dodge. I might be alone with this opinion, but I found several aspects of Lewd in common with Hux Flux's Cryptic Crunch, or perhaps a marriage of Cryptic Crunch and Zerotonine's Cygnus Loops. Great stuff. 9/
Guest Psychedelic AllabertA
Well, I personally like melodic goa and full-on sounds more, but it's important to keep an open mind for everything (except deep jazzy house ... Although I think a lot of minimal albums people praise so much are quite boring, uninventive and lack the magical touch of goa, this one is an exception and it proves that at least one artist in each music genre knows how to make really good music and gives the genre a reason to exist (heck, maybe even in jazzy house! And so, some of these tracks are a bit stronger (T3) but most of them are really minimal. Nevertheless, it sounds so organic, with all those quirky sounds and deep, phat basslines which just flow... In fact, the entire CD flows like some thick liquid and carries you on the top. Maybe the producers had the same picture in their heads like me (pony SAUCE, funk FLUID ) It's nice, fresh and funkay... I give it an 8.5/10 (minimal lovers may freely add 1.5 to the score)
Guest goa phreak
maaaaaan!!!! i've read all the posts above and i must be a fuckin' weirdo or something, but this really doesn't do much for me. i guess it could change a li'l if i got really high... otherwise it's repetitive and boooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!! monochrome stands out as the least dull. i borrowed the cd from a friend, and i don't recommend buying it to anyone who expects melodic stuff. 3/10. Guest Acidhive
Goa phreak, if you were expecting melodic stuff here, you were thinking wrong in the first place. That goes for anyone who thinks this is going to be melodic. This is not melodic. It's dark, funky, wicked ass psytrance with lots of quirks and good samples. Like most of their tracks. Only gripe with this is that it could've been longer. But, the material that IS on offer here, is really great!! 9/10 here and do bring out your second album soon guys!! Trance2MoveU
Artist: Beat Bizarre Title: Lewd Label: Iboga Records Date: 2001 1. Pony Sauce 2. Monochrome 3. Brain Drain (Rmx) 4. Deep Pitch 5. The New Breed 6. Error 7. Funk Fluid To quote Discogs user Fox_on_the_rox from December 2010 about this album: "Awesome." Wow. That is f*cking fantastic. Could you be a bit more descriptive? Too difficult, ok how about less? Even Samuel L. Jackson is bored and that guy gets excited over the smallest tasks. "I'M GOING TO GET A CUP OF MOTHER F*CKIN' COFFEE!" "NOW I'M GONNA PUT SOME SUGAR IN THE MOTHER F*CKER!" "AIN'T THAT A B*TCH...I FORGOT THE CREAMER!" I've been writing reviews long enough to know that everyone has their own style. Some people write a lot and some use pictures. Actually, I'm the only one I know who uses pictures and...well, some people hate it and some love it. Point is, who am I to tell someone how to write a review? That being said, "Awesome" just doesn't seem to cut it. Too vague. But Mike, how can "Awesome" be vague? I think this is awesome But I like big boobs. To a gay guy he might think that is less awesome. Based on that theory, I am assuming that Fox_on_the_rox likes minimal music or too many melodies send him into an epileptic seizure the likes of which Michael J. Fox hasn't seen. Beat Bizarre are René Gundel Nielsen & Martin Spanner Zimmermann and this was their first album waaaaay back in 2001. So this was made at least 10 years ago. If it's quality music it doesn't really matter how old it is. Look at the Beatles. Hell, look at I.F.O. First let me say that I don't really care for minimal. I find it rather boring, but when it's done well I can appreciate its atmosphere. Like some reviewers have said this isn't supposed to be the melodic tour de force. When it came out the minimal style was in so those hoping for layers of melody will come away from this disappointed. I knew what this was going in and to me it is exactly what I thought it would be. Long pieces of monotony punctuated by dark themed effects mostly devoid of melody. I just read that back again and...ouch. But I'm sure the artists weren't striving to create stacks of melody as that scene ended. What is here is great production where every sound is very clear. My problem with it (besides the lack of melody) is that it goes on entirely too long. 3, 4, maybe five minutes I could take, but 9 and 10 minutes of just effects over the same bass line is snoozetown. But again, this wasn't made for me. The Brain Drain Remix seemed a little more punchy, but it still was weak by today's standards. So I suppose this review is for the newbies to the scene. If you like melodic music than steer clear of this. If you like minimal then this is some of the best I have heard. It's dark and spooky pulsating music and sounds very good. I can easily appreciate it on repeated listens. Is that clear enough? Awesome. Beatspace Out of stock at Psyshop and Saikosounds. Sideffect...
Beat Bizarre – Lewd (2001) A very strong release. And when I mean strong, I mean it literally. This is straight forward progressive all the time. A decent level of psychedelic. Nothing happy or fluffy but meant to bounce on the dance floor. Grumpy sounds crawling on a baseline that motivates me from the beginning to end. http://www.discogs.c...wd/master/45236
