A new Shiva Space Technology compilation. And not even a fake one.*g* . Very nice! ;o) Shiva Space Technology have brought me many happy times. Shidapu, Shiva Sidpao, Yahel and the likes, so I had high expectations when receiving this CD. The promotional material says "Let some lightbeams during the dark European wintertime" . Ehh?? S.S.T. always cracks me up with their crappy English and funny spelling errors. Take a look at the backcover of Yahel's "For The People" for a huge bunch of errors!.. Anyway - the question is, whether these tracks can provide me with some light in these dark times - and YES I'm happy to say that they can .thank-you-very-much! A short introduction to the tracks: (#1) Nice start. Happy uplifting morning-trance.. My mind is going - there's no question about it. (#2) Ahh.. Very good track here from Mr. Pastor. I'd like to take a closer look at that iceflower-garden for sure. Very nice melody in this track! (#3) . Yahel On Jörg? . Ehhw. Sounds like a dodgy gay-porn flick that I don't wanna see. This track has a very cheesy intro, which is brutally interrupted by a very bangy bass. Aaarhg.. and to top it of, there a kid singing/humming towards the end of the track.. Ehhw. Skip this track! (#4) Better track than it's predecessor . As the artists-name suggest this is heavily invaded with guitar-riffs.. But the guitars are well-fitted and this is a nice, happy track! (#5) Like the Program Change comp had a cover of Psycho, this comp has a cover of the classic Erez-track Power Of Celtic, and some might say that the track has been butchered, but I actually like this track. Once again it is heavily soaked in guitars, so if you don't like that, you'll hate this track. Quite ok track I think, and I'm looking forward to Lemurians upcoming album "Crystal Minds".Oh, one more thing: What's with the artist names collaboration trend? I'm mean - what will be next: Infected Space Jörg On Mushroom Meets Talamasca Vs. Cat Yahel Who Battles GMS Featuring Astral Nomad? Enough is enough! Moving on to (#6) which is one of the best tracks here. Very cool, powerful track from Sphero! Nicey nice! (#7) is DJ Lestat with the fastest track on this comp.. A samples says "Very nice" and well, yes that's what it is. Spooky ending too! ;o). (#8) . Quite average track. I could wish for more drive in this track, but it has potential.. (#9) . Last track, and according to psy-tradition a track with a smaller Bpm-count. This track is pretty good and a very worthy last track.. To conclude, a compilation with many good tracks. Best are 2, 5, 6 & 7. If you feel like some nice, psychedelic uplifting morning-tracks you should definitely go for this compilation. Critics will label this Erez-mastered-it-so-it's-cheesy, but luckily we can't all share the same tastes. All I know is that I liked this, and would recommend this to any fan of uplifting trance. Beautiful cover too! 8/
Guest Jason - Los Angeles, CA
I'm more into the darker side of trance now and am slowly drifting away from the melodic, but this style of melodic trance will never get old to me. This is not cheese. It is great psychadelic trance. The Sphero track is my favorite, followed by Talamasca. 8/10 for this comp, but only because of the slow tempo on most tracks. Guest Le Lotus Bleu
I'm first, very surprised to see so few reviews about this compilation coz it's a good one for me. The track from Plexus is an extract of their album, one of their best tune. All the rest of the comp are unreleased tracks. Very good work comes from Domi, Yahel+Jorg (i don't agree with Deathposture , this track contains nice harmony fill in with emotion and childness atmosphere ), Talamasca (the most energic stuff of the comp), Cosma (the Arpeggio melody played at guitar reminds me Zebra from X Dream).I'm not conviced by the remix of power of celtics except this one the rest is good. If you like melodic and psychedelic trance , buy Lightbeams it's for you. rating:7/
Guest niels_knigge[at]ofir[dot]dk
Nice music. Not much new, but it's comp. so f*** that, it doesn't matter as long as it sounds good. Only bad track 4 is bad. rest is nice and melodic.... 7/
Guest Goa Spirit
amazing album, not relying on bpm's to sell their music.. this one is nice and definitely filled with light.. far as i know, this album was played a lot in the party circuit these last couple of months. so i am truly surprised to see that there are such few reviews for this one.... 2, 3, 6 and maybe 7 are all solid tracks. good album,..... keep it up sst.. 8/10. Jon Cocco
I was dissapointed when I first heard this comp because I was hopeing for the original "Power Of Celtic" sound. The remix is not nearly as good. I sampled this album at psyshop and liked it, but I find many tracks boring because there is NO INNOVATION. It is more of the same melodic trance. However, track 3 with the baby or kid voice singing before the huge climatic break is very different. It is both wierd and unexpected and it packs lots of energy. The first track is also very good, but nothing here is stunning. I jumped to buy Lightbeams when I saw the name EREZ on the synopsis at psyshop. He mastered it, not made it. Oh well, maybe it will grow on me given time.

Guest [Anonymous]
There is little innovation in terms of rhythm and song structure, but some of the sounds used on here are simply beautiful, and open up new ideas for texture in psytrance. The explosive, crunching synth in the domi track is particularly tasty. Definitely a move away from some of the vile noises that are used to create a 'freaky' effect in this genre (in crap like psysex and alien project for instance). I am wondering about some other acts that use similar, well crafted sounds??? Can anybody give me some suggestions?
