Review:

1. Great opener for this debut album, launching staight

into funky triplet rhythms and scratchy metallic fx.

tempo games towards the middle of the track break down into

a straighter feel til the end.

nice one!

2. Loopus in top form once again!, its got all their

signature traits, slide-y bass lines, funky wah-guitars and

tweaked out sounds.

This one has been a favourite of mine for morning sets for

quite sometime, although this album version seems to have

had a bit of a re-working.

thought the original was a bit better and a little fuller.

3. Whoa! another of my morning fave.'s, this will rock any

dance floor no problems!

check out that bassline, it slides all over the place,

sssssooooo funky!!!

their amazing chorused percussion games are also evident

throughout this track, my pick of the album.

4. One of the more 'straighter' tracks on the album and

with a darker feel,

didnt do that much for me, but im sure would rock on a big

system.

Loopus seem like one of those groups who write music

designed especially for huge festival sound systems.

Immaculate and very 'large' production.

5. Another winner, baby! these basslines just continue to

amaze me,

continually evolving and morphing to keep you grooving for

hours!

very beautiful track!

6. Robopope - Another of the straighter epic tracks,

weighing in at just over 10 minutes.

the breakdown around the 8 minute mark was what really

caught my attention,

excellent sample work! funny stuff!

7. Sweeeeeeet! starts off building very dark and growly for

the first couple of minutes,

then BOOM! - bass change and we're back in wacky

loopus-ville!

yummy key changes and horn section work-outs.

another of my favorites here.

8. never heard the original by finnish group kiwa,

but this sure is a funky-ass reworking!

love that warbling synth sound throughout!

the halfway mark sees a breakdown into more familiar loopus

territory,...

nice, smooth sailing with those signature key-changes.

luvly!

9. another track i've had the privledge of hearing on a

larger sound system

and i can definately say that this one is a pounder!!!

it just gets better and better with every passing minute,

building logically on each theme and those oh my f**king

god basslines!

all in all, an absolutely amazing debut album.

after being passed from label to label for so long, it was

well worth the wait,

their attention to detail is immaculate.

Loopus must also recieve top marks for their top notch

production,

rivaling even the shmick minimal producers.

all the sounds cut clean and clear through the mix.

its good to hear the amazing production techniques taught

from the

progressive school being applied to the more 'fuller'

styles of trance.

Big thanx to Loopus for their infectious grooves,

and also much love and huge respect to Franny!

if ya like ya trance with alot of funk and high

originality content, get this one now!

rating: 8.5/10

well repsycle has already made a very good review of the single tracks..in my

opinion this is an awesome masterpiece, maybe the best artist album of the

last 2 years...

loopus have a peculiar style of their own but the album is like a complete

journey and each track have its own story and richness, so you can keep

listening and listening many many times and it will always tell you

something...on the other hands it is maybe difficult to catch the whole thing

with a easy quick listening (you know what i mean: listening some trax

skipping -skipping--the kind of preview listening you do with phones in the

record shop)

anyway i appreciate the difference and richness because in many artist album

nowadays you just have 1 track with 8 variations of it, same sounds same

grooves...not so much work behind...

my favorite track is number 5 robopope : this track is simply a musical

masterpiece and it's quite difficult to be described... just listen to it!!!

Very beautiful and original samples a "moving funky" bass continually evolving

and morphing in the beginning, some scratchy sounds and then the usual change

in the middle that open to pure action and madness (but everything is always

under control with loopus..this guys always keep an eye to the dancefloor..)

the worst for me is number 6 can-d because i think the production is not as

"top quality" as the rest of the album and because it has too many changes

(5-6!!), although it's true that the breakdown towards it's a true example of

sampling art...

finally it's not so common to have an album that is 90% dancefloor killer and

at the same time it's a pleasure to discover at home with day by day

listening...

i played the last track (lolita) to some friends who are not at all from the

psytrance scene and who are used to laugh at me for my "boom-boom stupidity"

and they all where quite astonished by the musicality of it, and still keeping

the typical trance elements...

vote 10/10: no doubts!!!

the elements of the tracks are conflicting with each other, you cany just put a

kick like this together with elements of jazz or funk and say its working

well...nice try though.

these tracks have nearly ALL been tested on dance floors

around Australia, and the response has allways been

100% dance floor vibe!!!

9/10. Incrediably fresh and sooo funky, this has restored my love of psy, The

race for the ultimate bass line has been found many times on this album alone.

My only negative would be that I want it on vinyl. Does anyone know of any

similar stuff ?

Loopus in Fabula will become a classic. It's so melodic, funky and twisted,

that it makes me laugh like a looney when dancing/mixing it.

Their unique style shows us there is a lot of evolution to come in psychedelic

trance. This is so original that you must be careful when mixing it with

something else. One question for anyone who knows something about production

(i'm trying to produce something): how can you make this kind of basslines?

what program/equipment can i use?

sorry folks, can't agree here. i like minimal and fullon stuff, but this is

neither. it's chaotic trance with melodies that aren't melodies. some of

rythms are nice and it is produced well, but the creativity you all praise so

much, often sounds like random soundsamples put together. only suitable for

serious acid-heads.

2/10

hm, how could I dare to question the wonderful influence of acid consumption...

well, I did not. I dared to state that I think this music is so caotic it is

only enjoyable when on something like acid. And - as the last review reveals -

the open-minded fans of loopus already show symptoms of massive acid

over-consumption , like e.g. a total lack of brain activity.

Greetings, ee2001.

wonderful funky stuff, has a lot in common with koxbox later stuff. Refreshing,

it is good to see artists take a chance. Because it is so groovy the tracks

hold together even though they go of on a tangent.

this is quality. reminds of koxbox - the great unknown, still it's unique. this

one's to be highlighted, the best release so far this year together with

x-dream - irritant. woho!
