Guest smg
Miranda - Mars Needs Women Artist: Miranda Title: Mars Needs Women Label: Why Not? Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 03'13" Mars Needs Women (Antiloop Radio Mix) 02. 03'32" Mars Needs Women (Savastano Radio Mix) Review: If this would be some unknown artist, I bet this cd would be never reviewed. But since Miranda has made some goa albums, and even good ones, I think this needs to be reviewed. Actually these mixes are not goa, far from it infact =). I would say Progressive trance/dance, something like that. Tracks are not shitty, in my opinion they just can't be classified as goa. Too melodic and happy feeling. I haven't ever heard Miranda's own mix of this tracks, because even the album version is mixed by Antiloop. It's on the maxi single (Miranda's version), but not on this one. Antiloop's version has some tweaking with "env" knot, to the good ol MWNN - Sugar Rush style, and it's worth of 7/10. Savastano's mix is better in my opinion, and deserves fair 8/10. Both tracks are radio mixes, and way too short for goa listeners, who expect to have at least 6 minutes of music in one track. Ok single after all. Guest Ubik
I only have the version which is on the northern lights album and it is pure crap 0/1000...
Guest Jim[at]raveworld[dot]net
The remix by Antiloop really sucks.. It´s a commercial thing, Miranda And Antiloop has performed together in sweden.(Antiloop is accepted by "mainstream-listeners" in Sweden and Miranda is not.) Both Miranda And Antiloop cant perform live, or even play their own music.. I Havent heard the second (Rmx) but it cant be worse then the antiloop track! By the way, a couple of years ago Miranda was so high on a party that she fell of the stage(!). I am not even sure that she´s the girl on the record. I´ll give this record 2 out of 10. Guest Gustav
God I hate Antiloop, not only have they plauged our radio channels with their commercial nonsense music for years, but now they've dared to parasite on the psytrance scene. One might wonder how Miranda could let them do this remix aswell. The Savastano sounds really promising the first minute, but then it turns into the same radio crap style as Antiloop. Warning, don't buy this non-goa crap. (Grade: 1/10 for the somewhat good intro on the Savastano mix)
Basilisk
The original is also on reactivate 16, if i'm not mistaken... it's just epic trance - commercial, cheesy stuff. Move along.
Guest Erik Svedman">Erik Svedman
Well, let me start by saying that Miranda has probably left the psy-trance scene for good by now and is working on more commercial dance stuff, and that's sad as she has done some really good music during the years. This is also why Antiloop and Savastano is remixing her music. Also, this is NOT a remix of Doofs classic tune, she just used the same samples. Probably available on some sample CD as this set of samples has been used by The Chemical Brothers too, or that's what I've been told. Mirandas original version is good, if you like old school goa trance (I thought it was boring), but to release this by the end of 1998 is a definitive step back. Guest [Anonymous]
Damn what the hell is that! i couldn't believe it was miranda at first when i saw it was remixed by antiloop, i think it's really time to stop all these shits! Is she going to sing in the next single or what? like alice deejay or vengaboys?? or appear on MTV??? So i say STOP when it's time !!!! Don't fall into the commercial shits!! there's already too much!
Guest Magic Plant
Anything that Antiloop have touched is probably not worth listening to. No talent, no innovations. Simple repetetive dance (hence, Antiloop should just be called Loop to reflect their unoriginal and repetetive songs). Fortunately, I haven't heard them in a long while, and I'll be disappointed if I hear them again, unless some miracle happens to them. Guest IMpressed
I don't care if it's not goa. I am a goa/psytrance listener and I must say this is the best antiloop has ever made. I think it has a real good build up with a fantastic groove. Yes, it's comercial but the extended version on the maxi is a real dancefloor killer. The Savastano mix on the other hand is like a remake of the original only with a more comercial touch, like plastic synths, less echo and stufffs. 10/10 for the antiloop rmx
Guest Ehsanur
Haven't listened to this, but I loved Doof's "Mars needs Women". It was on one odd TIP (WEIRD ORAnGE) compiliation. Yup,Miranda has definately taken farewell with the psychedelic scene and connected herself to the mainstream dance-scene.
