This stuff isn't quite the ordinary psytrance stomping, but concentrates more on groovy ass-wiggling. This actually is not really psytrance, more like experimental. Even though most tracks are with a 4/4 kick drum, this often (definetly not always) fades to the background with more complicated drum rhythms taking the foreground. The melodies are not forgotten and there are some nice melodies, but more sounds. Ubar Tmar's opening track is listenable, but nothing special. Borg Destroyer (#2) starts bad and then slowly gets better, but on the whole it's quite boring. I like Feeler from Mademademan (#3) very much, it is quite original and full of energy. It makes me dance often when I listen to it. Paradise Pills (#4) is also a good track with good freshness in the choice of instruments. Ree K has made a very simple track here, extremely minimalistic. Listenable for a few times, but boring and too long. After it, Innershpere has an average track, quite repetitive. It has a quite nice and long break in it. Groovy Intent's Om Rock (#7) is very groovy. Over the groove it has some light jazzy sounds. Nice. Track 8 from Innersphere again is quite different also. It sounds like old Chemical Brothers, but with an interesting psychedelic edge to it. Good work. The finishing track is by Ubar Tmar and it's quite good. The guitar melody and sound in the middle could be better, while not really bad, but then the end gets good. A very driving track.Overall this compilation is ok and I listen to it once in a while. It deserves 6,5/10.
Guest chuen[at]spin[dot]net[dot]au
I can't really understand all of it, or even any or it sometimes, but it provides a refreshing change to the usual psy-trance. Remember, techno/trance in general is boring if you don't open your mind to it.
