Insejn
V/A - Mechanism Artist: Various Title: Mechanism Label: Spiral Trax Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 07'03" Bushbumpas : Bushrock 02. 09'19" Prisoners Of The Sun : Mandy 03. 08'37" Quarz : Wilde Werft 04. 06'46" Neum : Beezulbubbles 05. 07'59" Bio-D : Black Magic Woman 06. 07'51" Double Dragon : Tin Drum 07. 09'15" Allaby : Electrostatic 08. 07'57" Shaff Puff : Red Sky 09. 08'53" Proto Culture : Superhighway Review: This one is pretty good. And it is also very bad. Some tracks is really smooth and joyable. Some (or at least one) are almost shit. It's kind of a weird style. Not minimal but yet not melodic. But it's more on the minimal side. At some points it even sounds cheesy...yes, believe it or not. And also dark sometimes. hmmm...I don't really like track 3 and 4. They are too minimal and has a strange bas. The other tracks are better. A little more psychedelic and more melodic. Anyway...if you like...uhm...some kind of psy you might enjoy this Final Verdict: 7/
Guest [Anonymous]
I did not like this compilation. Most of these tracks are minimal with some flimsy, floating melody that comes in later in the track. I do not find any of the tracks to be psychedelic (maybe except the Double Dragon track). Yes, music can be minimal and VERY psychedelic at the same time. For example, Beat Bizarre is very minimal, but I find their music to be incredibly psychedelic. When I listen to mechanism all I hear is house-like music (but it is still not the same as house, of course). And people should stop complaning about other people's reviews. First of all, even if their review sucks, it should still be posted so that the album will be in the search database. Second, if you think the review sucks, post your own. Otherwise stop bitching. Guest whatru41[at]the[dot]bar
Anti did it again! Spiral Trax keeps releasing the sound of the future, and in this compilation Anti selected a variety of styles that all have in common that they are innovative as well as useful on the dancefloor if the dj knows what he's doing. For those who dont like it or dont understand it, take a listen again one year from now, when the rest of the scene has caught up. Nice one Anti! 10/
Guest AO
i love this album i dont mind housey and minimal influences... infact anything that goes a little differently has a better chance of influencing the future than the tried and tested formulas of the past in all its rehashed fading glory. No bad trax on this but 1,2 6 rock and a couple of others are growing on me surely. hmmm maybe a 7.5 or 8.5/

Guest Tomvcarter
Very good, cutting edge scando stuff. It took me a while to get into, but after a couple of listens, i could not understand how i did not appreciate it at first. It is a good collection of early morning pushers. The POTS, Neum & Allaby tunes are amazing and it is worth buying just for these. POTS come out with their best tune to date i my opinon, rolling in and out of light and dark atmospheres, with exelent hi hat work. Neum who i have not heard of before lift the compilation with the fresh uplifling bassline, then is given a kick up the ass with a wicked acid line that creeps in after the break down, and has slightly funky precussion work over the top which works well. Allaby who are also new to me suply an amazing track, sounds kinda like Vibrasphere (bass line does anyway) and pushes in to a more psychedelic soundscape with the help of some wicked synth stabs, an exelent dance floor killer for those dark cold mornings. The rest of the tracks on this compilation are also good, and it is definatly worth buying if you like the spiral trax sound, it is a much better comp than Internationalism. Hopefully this is the sound of spiral trax to come, less stuff like matenda of talamasca, just thought they were boaring. 8.5/
Guest miguel[at]shpongle[dot]com
The Proto-culture track is quite amazing... A "must" for a morning set, psychedelic and flowin', touching but hundreds of miles away from cheesy. At about 6:00 the track evolves into a sort of acid break, just to melt in perfectly back with the flow. Anybody know where these guys come from? Great stuff! Guest Aqua Mental
Like BUSHBUMPAS warn us in the first track, it's sure gonna be a wild ride! A what a wonderful ride it truly is!! Right from the first notes of this cd it starts building intensity through the best dance tracks I've heard this year. I didn't know before that it's possible to dance so fast and almost without control and yet be remarkably relaxed at the same time... tracks 2-5 are all the way enjoyable and give some very nice shivers now and then, but when it's DOUBLE DRAGON's turn you can't think of anything else but praise that guy's talent and have the fun of your life! After that ALLABY and SHAFF PUFF show us that newcomers also know how to keep the people on the dancefloor very pleased indeed... excellent let-go party music. And finally PROTO CULTURE takes our physical bodies back to earth, but soft bassline and intelligent melodies keep our spirits drifting in the unknown paradise. So here's my recommendation for the ultimate home listening experience: Put this cd to your player in the late evening, close the curtains, turn on the blacklight, put on a few drops of your favourite mind-expanding scent (like Patchouli or Sandalwood) to your aromatherapy lamp, set the volume to -40dB, press the play button and LET IT LOOSE. Yell if you want to, laugh if you feel to... this cd's got it all! My infinite gratitude to DJ ANTI for his deep understanding of the power of trance and will to deliver it to anybody who wants to be happy. 10/
