Review:

This is minimalistic dark progressive psy trance and it's so good. Perfect

music for the dancefloor! I heard them live so I

know what I'm talking about :). Even though it's minimalistic with not a

great number of sounds, I discover some new things

every time I listen to it that I haven't noticed before. This is what makes

it so good. It never gets boring and these

experimentals with different sounds is so fascinating. If you like the

normal "goa" sound, you may not like this because

it's very different from that, but it's so excellent!!! Every time I hear

Imprint and Fungi Funk I get goose bumps :)..

Sweden is really making a progress on the trance scene so be on the watch

for more swedish stuff in the future :)).

If I haven't made it clear in this review I say it now.. I LOVE THIS ALBUM !

Rating 8/10

10nths perfection. All good trax...An artist to look out

I've just heard this album at a friend and I can only say this is simply boring

Techno!!! This has nothing to do with Goa-TRANCE anymore... I even don't think

this music is Psychedelic... So simply not my cup of tea!!

I guess this is a good album if you like the minimalistic

Techno, but I hate it!! Bom Shankar

Hi everyone! just wanted to say that this album is an exquisite example of

progression in trance music!! Although people like Anoebis@goatrance.com have

there feet stuck in the mud of conservatism(full on melodic goatrance) I must

ask him to get aquainted to other kinds of music before speaking of minimal

techno!!!????

go get everything with Son Kite! it's brilliant!!!!!

Superb album! 9 out of 10!

It's more minimalistic progressive psytrance... (yea, still psytrance). VERY

VERY VERY well produced. QUALITY everywhere on this album...

Son Kite know what minimalism is all about. All tracks are great, though for me

the stand out is Fungi Funk. Their singles are also great. For example: Knob

Adjustment and the remix of that particular track!! Bass like you wouldn't

believe!! Get this. 8/10

At the beginning, I really thought I wouldn't like minimalistic trance. But when

I listened to Minilogue, I immediatly found that great. Why? The reason is

clear, it's powerful!!It gives me such an energy!Of course, it's impressively

repetitive, but the bassline is great, and all this stuff sounds

"professional", the (inexistent?) melodies sounds clear, everything is clear

and well made, GOOD WORK.High quality and highly powerful trance. But remember

that the melodies are rare.

6/10 (a good 6)

I think it was Miles Davis who once remarked that with music, it wasn't the

notes you played that were important but the notes you DIDN'T play. For him,

the spaces between the sounds were what separated good compositions from great

ones. It may be a bold call comparing Son Kite with Miles Davis, but I will --

"Minilogue" proves that Son Kite are expertly marching the trail that Miles

carved. "Minilogue" doesn't hurl melodies and hum-a-long tunes at the

listener. Then again, it wasn't meant to. The repitition, the pounding

four-four beats, the sweeping, bending basslines, and the gaps between them

all -- THIS is what induces the trance. It's a shame that this style of music

has taken on the name "minimalist," when in reality there is so much there.

Maybe, you just have to remember that the sound of silence is still a sound,

after all. I think Miles would have loved this one. A brilliant release...9/10

Son Kite are the kings. A track like Openfaced is unbeliveable. Some tracks

aren't as good as others, but still they kick ass. Awesome, minimalistic

production. Progressive production. Damn, can't get any better.

The ones that calles this "minimal techno" should reconsider it very carefully!!

This is Progressive Trance at it's best!!!

The track "Fungi Funk" is one of the best tracks I've ever heard!!

Everytime I hear it I get goose bumps and I can manage to sit still!!

Don't listen to the negative people in here!!

BUY IT OR YOU'LL MISS SOMETHING!!!

I like minimalistic stuff.But that's not my album.There is not a strong

bassline that kicks you in the air.Only constantly repeating sounds, that

didn't do a lot for me.And the tracks are too long and boring.4/10

Son Kite ..from Malmö/sweden! This music is perfect for the dancefloor. It

makes u kick KICK KICK ! I think this is progressive hardtrance ..with some

tribal sounds. If u are looking for melodies , don't look here!

This is minimalistic dark progressive psy trance and it's so good. Perfect

music for the dancefloor! This album contains very good tracks. But i really

missed "Knob Adjustment" and "recieve". "Openfaced" is fantastic! one of the

best progressive tracks i've heard. I really love "Levitate" for

chillin...it's very soft and cool ..with a nice rythm. If u want a perfect

party album ..BUY THIS ! and dance all night long. i give this album: 8/10 ,

i want a SOn Kite LIVE album , Son Kite is much better LIVE !

It's not true microzomme that Son Kite has no strong basslines. I thought that

at first, too, but than i heard it on a PHAT soundsystem, and the basslines

that sound weak on your carradio become massive bodyshakers that make the

floor vibrate and your bones shake. Whenever the bass kicks in like in

Openfaced for example the whole floor feels like an earthquake, its not

thumping, but its vibrating and shaking.

This album, 9.5/10

Son Kite, the music that takes you into the sky, like a kite. Great album

loaded with dancefloor killers, hear atleast one of the songs from this album

at most parties. and who said ther are no hard basslines in this album? hear

it at a party where the sound is good, the bass is what i like about their

music... the bass and the anticipation they make the listener feel before it

comes pumping in.. Almost a remake of the Israeli formula... i am really

beginning to enjoy the minimalistic wave... way to go guys and keep producing

music... BOM!

Well, I've only heard Fungi Funk and Back Beyond Rotation...I'd say Fungi Funk

is one of the most interesting and fucking cool songs I've heard lately....and

as for the real debate this album has set forward, well, i guess the grade it

deserves is the number of reviews it gets, good or bad....it raises opinions,

and thats what music is for. I completely agree with tramser and Scott.Kanov,

though. We shouldnt get too attached to melodic trance, because its really one

side if the same coin. I dont know how you can call Son Kite minimalistic...

they use the same 4/4 rhythm every single trance artist uses, only

differently. This is about feelings, rhythm, grooves....and Son Kite really

get there, whether you like it or not. Quality is undeniable.

This is like the finest-prepared, spiciest Swedish cuisine: exquisitely done,

but why bother? I found this too repetitive and boring. Also, they seem to

rely too heavily on the old naive SUN Project percussion of boom-tsiss x 4 in

an exact split of the bar. This bothers me after about 30 seconds.

Now for the Son Kite album, at first I hated

this music direction... It's not easy to follow and understand all those weird

and talented artists. I listened to Minilogue for 10-15 times and I see

something bright. Low progressions and minimalistic beats, this CD is a smooth

techno/trance trip - nothing to do with the psychedelic movement. Tracks 3,4

and 7 are good. I give: 7.5/10.

I wrote above that I like it well and gave this album a 6/10.But I was wrong,

this album deserves a nice 10/10, and with no hesitation. So if you don't like

it, please relisten to it, again, again, again and again, and one day, you'll

understand why many people love it.

No need to say more than: GREAT album, perhaps the best I know at this time.

Best tracks: back beyond rotation (I love the going back and forward

knarz-effect) and openfaced (it's so emotional that it sometimes really KILLS

me!)

I even have to stop myself from listening minilogue to often, cause I don't

want it to get boring... but I guess it never will.
