Guest andreas.knoess[at]gmx[dot]de
This album changes my belief in music... A perfect bridge between my 80ies roots in Electronic Body Music and the uplifting Techno aera. Which other track will ever kick off "Floor essence" from my very pole position??? Got no idea actually. And "Azimuth" is its perfect 'ambient' opponent: I've never listened to such an ass-kicking (and at the same time emotional) sound as on this record. Unbelieveable!!! Guest ChrisdeeACiD
This was my first GOA cd I bought. It simply changed my view of life. "Sugar Rush" is still the best one and allmost all the other tracks are also great. "Low Commotion" takes 2:nd place and "Azymuth" is very good too. 7.5/
Guest Infected Max
Waaa killer work....since i think Martin really bullshits us nowadays, i still think that album was a massive one And innovative too. I reminds me so good things...
Guest utopia_x[at]infonie[dot]be
I love this Man With No Name album, fav tracks are : 1,2 ( more like a dance derivated goa masterpiece),3,4,5 (goa-ambient track),6 (cosmical-dream intro),9 (if you know where i can find the remix of this track, let me know) and 10. The other tracks are still good but not awesome. Martin Freeman is definitely an outstanding and creative goa artist, a total reference to this music spirit ! Guest d.mcnair[at]dailyrecord.co[dot]u
I think that it all sounds pretty similar in a really dated sense though his sound is his own. I enjoyed some of his earlier stuff I found that I was bored by the time the album came out. His best tune for me is his remix of Eat Static's 'Bony Incus' on Planet Dog records. He really had to make the effort on that occasion and the choon he was mixing was a killer to start with. If anyone is really after the double vinyl of this album in perfect condition then e-mail me and we can sort something out.
Guest clark_303
This is a very boring album with some good tracks and lots of lame ones that you forget instantly because they lack creativity...Floor Essence is ok but it's no goa/psy-trance and Sugar Rush is good too 'cause it has some very nice melodies. Moment of Truth is almost a goa tune and it's rather nice although it doesn't really have anything that'll blow your mind, just the same unoriginal sound and cliched stuff. Other tunes are lame and boring, the sound stays the same throughout this album and you get sick of it after a while. So this is very dated now. Don't get me wrong, Man with No Name has some very good tunes(Teleport, Lunar Cycle, Neuro Tunnel and so on...) but this is a very lame album compared to them.-Clark
Guest robgoatrance[at]libero[dot]it
Good cd but there isn't a very good track. All tracks are nice but none very beautiful! buy this cd if you love celestial melodies, but if you prefere hard drum and very psychedelic melodies choose an other! Rating 7/
Guest slinker
sugar rush sends glorious shivers throughout my body! like an orgasm of melodic/303 classic goa...the other tracks on the album are fairly good and in the same light well made and structured...nothing comes close to sugar rush though....7/10 , 11/10 (sugar-rush)worth a look if you enjoy that classic sound! =^,^=
Jon Cocco
Tweaked / Updated in 2019. Floor Essence (Dayglo Mix) is a super dance track merging house/trance influence with Goa. By some miracle of God, it works. I love it. Sugar Rush has a memorable tunel. Azymuth is interesting, engaging, different, an ambient influenced Goa track in the middle of the album. I like it... a lot. I used to find it too slow and drawn out. There are some nice moments here and there. This is a very retro. ,nostalgic Goa album. Some tracks work better than others. Some songs or parts of them lose my interest. A solid debut, a bit dated at times but also so awesome when you hear what holds up decades (yes decades, updating this in 2019) years later. Martin's follow up album (sequel) to this one, Earth Moving the Sun is his overall best album to date IMO.
khogg
This is MWNN. I've always been a fan of his earlier work. This album is no exception. Some tracks border on a club trance sound that will not appeal to some. For me, this album will always be special as it was one of the first few goa Cd's I bought. As far as I know, most tracks are only available on this album, which is unfortunately hard (impossible?) to get now. Definitely, worth it if you can find it somewhere. Basilisk
A classic! MWNN delivers some of his best material on this old album. Thoroughly enjoyable.
soem aeld
I found this gem for a very good price. And what can I say? It's really melodic and stuph! Favorite trax are T5 and T10. But it's not all good. I can't listen to this one too often 'cus it's kinda like eating too much candy.. makes me wanna puke, eventho I love it! 7/
Guest Davidtolsn
this one gets a solid 9/10 in my book. this is some of the only stuff that came out this early with a nice hard bassline, and on top of that, it has awesome melodies and layer upon layer of psychedelic sounds all going on at the same time.. the only track i find myself skipping a lot is azymuth, and some of the songs are just perfect (like sugar rush, evolution...) i strongly recommend this cd. DeathPosture
Smashing! Another trip down memory lane with this truely amazing album from Man With No Name... Released back in 1996 this has really stood the test of time, and just take a look at the tracklist... Tracks like Moment Of Truth, Evolution, Floor Essence [Dayglo] & Sugar Rush [Refined Mix] are just as hypnotizing now as they were back then... Magical! This album is still widely available, so I encourage everyone who hasn't got this to get it... It's very good! 9/
Cinos
Man With No Name - Moment Of Truth 01 Moment Of Truth (6:56) 02 Floor-Essence (Dayglo Mix) (6:06) 03 Subterfuge (5:52) 04 Evolution (6:47) 05 Azymuth (7:55) 06 Low Commotion (6:52) 07 Skydiving (6:05) 08 Dawn Chorus (6:30) 09 Cairo (7:07) 10 Sugar Rush (Refined Mix) (6:08) 11 Cosmic Echoes (6:45) Yup, I will now review (and defile) the old classic by MWNN. My introduction to this guy was through his album Interstate Highway, and some years after buying that, I have ventured back in history to this one. So, is it good? I know my opinions don't matter, since everybody has already made their own about this, decided on what to think about it... But anyway. The first track starts off quite good, rather groovy, good MWNN style... but it's nothing compared to the second one: Floor Essence! This is really a classic, it has a quite epic feel to it, dancefloor killaargh! The following two tracks are good, but feel like filler material. Azymuth comes next - it's an excellent downtempo track, very blissful one. Better than most other stuff from that year. However, here the fun ends. We get four more of those good, but filler tracks. Perhaps they grow on you, but this is my first impression. None of them are very good. And then the album finishes off with the classic Sugar Rush, which feels very sugary, and Cosmic Echoes, which is a damn good melodic piece. (wonder why nobody ever mentions this?) A solid 8/10 for me, because of a few really great tracks and some filler which isn't too bad, but still filler.
delars
good album although i like 'earth moving the sun' even more posessed just rules everything
Taika-Kim
My appreciation of the album has grown immensely over the years (I first heard this in 1997 IIRC). At that time I was disappointed because there wasn't so much hard psy-sounds here, and many people were expecting more. Which was justifiable, given his at-that-time recent releases like Telport... Actually I believe that altough this is a 1996 release, most of the trax are quite old, given that this was released by CID who probably held a lot of his -+1994 stuff. Anyhow, nowadays I like the relaxed feel of the trax a LOT, and of course there is Low Commotion and Sugar Rush which are both brilliant. I used to like the original of Sugar Rush better, but I'm not sure... This one has maybe a more polished sound.
Lost Buddha
MWNN was one of the most popular goa artist in the history of goa trance. This album is one of his best , I sure enjoy it.
Time_Trap
IMHO it's good, although not very aggresive or energetic goa style which i like best for goa, and yeah some tracks are just fillers. gets a 7/10 for me.
Oopie
I see this album as excellent background music cause it's quite easy going and melodic. Some tracks here sure are fillers but most are well made and last the listening well even if played a lot. I'd give this album a fair 6/10 which is not a bad grade at all. Time_Trap
I see this album as excellent background music cause it's quite easy going and melodic exactly, easygoing background music... i think it's not ultra-trippy or dancefloor killer or anything close ... but it's good relaxing melodic music...
