Guest Slidingtrancer
Talamasca - Musica Divinorum Artist: Talamasca Title: Musica Divinorum Label: Spiral Trax Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Psychedelic Knights 02. Magnetic Fields 03. Insanity 04. The Racer 05. Musica Divinorum 06. The Old School 07. Time Simulation 08. Why Not 09. Joint O Clock Review: Many people will feel happy this album finally hits us. I picked it up while I was looking for the thirteen skulls compilation, it was an instant buy as I like 3dvision style and dj lestat. Anyway, Talamasca is under the guiding voice of spiral trax though even the font of their name breathes 3d vision. The music also has a lot of that 3dvision pace and power in it, the stuff that makes us dance in general. Well, lets get on with the trax. Track 1 is not the best Talamasca has ever made I must say, but seems to grow on me when I listen. A heavy bassline picks up the track at the beginning, accompanied by a nice hard bass and it really hits the spot there. When your ears have recovered from the first ticklings it becomes clear that this is indeed a simple but effective track. It sets a dark atmosphere and has some nice tribal drums in it. At 2.06 some nice melody enters, but lets not get too far in detail. We might be boring some of the readers here. Well the this track keeps building up and doesnt really change much over the minutes. Typical break at 4 minutes makes way for a new approach, but it kinda stays on the surface as a track. Hearing the damn same bassline too hard is getting on my nerve as well. It ends kinda abruptly. Let's hurry to track 2... Track 2 has another dark start, typical Talamasca stuff. The bassline, as ever, is simple but effective on the dancefloor. Some nice samples are being thrown in this kinda positively repetitive beat, the melodies are dark and nice at nights when there's nothing scary about the way home. Again the 4 minute limit sets a break and a sample, its getting kinda predictable here... I must hand it the melody at 6/7 minutes is very nice. Again, not at all an impressive ending. Track 3 starts with some voices muttering ( is that the right word, prolly not). Percussion is nicely panned around a bass with ( yez again) a simple bassline. This track has more pace/ drive than the previous tracks and really picks it up. Too bad a really ugly synth comes in at 1.30 which is obviously too damn hard. A break at 2 minutes is nice when we had 2 around 4. I'm happy this uplifting song holds more than the previous, nice melodies and breakz. Good uplifting 'builder' track. This will be a stomper at any party! Track 4 starts of with some nice choirs, very subtle... Good choice of voice sample and another one of those basslines. the only problem with the bassline is ITS ON MY RIGHT SIDE( for the most) all the time, shouldn't it be in both speakers equally? At this point in the cd Talamasca really takes the groove and puts fairies in your coffee ( or something like that). Again a really good stomper, more of the good thing. A 4 minute break ( how original) brings us some new darkness under a steady simple bassline. The full-on part enters at the very end of the track Lets start jumping this is getting much better! Track 5 Hear it for yourself, its fucking brilliant and I'm getting sick of typing in-depth reviews of every track no-one's gonna read =) Best track so far, typical dark Talamasca style!!! Reminds me of 'Program Change' a lot Track 6 'The Old school', Lestat forces another great track down our auricular receivers. A nice evolving gem. The only thing that bothers me is the 'clap' at 3,5 minutes, but thats just me being a pain in the ass. So far so good. The Full part at 6 minutes is outrageous and will get me dancing in public midwinter buttnaked ( like anyone cares...) Track 7 When Time is Simulated in the next track, you wish you could loop the simulation. Unfortunately it has a simple synthline that goes on all the time. It gets picked up by another instrument later on, very much in the style of eurotrance people. A shame with such a good beginning, Track 8 Why not.... well Lestat had another one up his sleeve so WHy NOT? A kinda slow song which also has a very repetitive synthline in it, which really annoys me. Good vibration, but irritating lead.... One of the less amusing tracks. Track 9 is a dub song and its very good, thats all I can say ( I have blisters on my fingers from typing now)... Verdict: Don't expect anything else than 3dvision artists have done over the last 2 years and you have a nice cd/lp in your collection!! There are less interesting tracks, but I'll even appreciate those in the future and I guess so will you! 8/
Guest rx7style
This is exactly what I expected from DJ Lestat, and that's a good thing. This is just good full-on psychedelic music, with a darker flavour. This isn't anything earth-shattering, but it's more of the music you and I love from Talamasca. Psychedelic Knights is my favorite track, with dark harmonies and freaky/spooky synth lines... it's fantastic. My least favorite track is Magnetic Fields, but I still thought it was groovy and I loved the 303 lines after an intense build up. I'm impressed with this album, and it's a great listen. High energy killers! 9/10 for classic Talamasca!

krelmatrix
Diversity is the quality that separates a good label from a truly great label. The Spiral Trax label group is one of the best out there right now. It is refreshing to see that Anti can release a killer full on album like this Talamasca album as well as a brilliant progressive album like the Matenda album within a few weeks of each other. If anything, this album proves that Anti has firmly grasped the plot more than most other label managers out there. Keep up the good work! Guest alizard80[at]hotmail[dot]com
ALright, well i think the album is slightly fluffy in comparison to previous Talamasca releases. I still give it a 9/10 BOLENAT ;o)
Guest --== Miles ==--
Yet more adequate full-on stompers without any sign of the cheese brigade. Its dark, its pounding, its underground but about as exciting as a VW Beetle rental car. The point; its reveauls its strong points and moreover its weaknesses in only a few spin sessions and subsequently ends up in the pile of other unimpressive stuff released lately. Come on, LeStat, compose more killer stuff such as -the Hunter becomes the Hunter- or at least try to be a tad more adventurous next time..7/

Congratulations to him and to Spiral Traxx for this album. This is high quality music, although it is full on style Spiral Traxx should be glad about it,its not a matter of style but quality when you release something... Well done Anti! Guest e_kuikka[at]hotmail[dot]com
Okay....this album kicks ass!!!! I must say that i again made a great choice to buy this album. All tracks are killers, filled with nice melodies and a bit dark atmosphere (of course not every song). This is different kind of Talamasca than the ones i heard few years ago, but I myself don´t mind the change. Anyway this a great release from Spiral Trax and I think all goa lovers should have this one. Also remember that here in Finland we know how to party too!!!!
