Review:

Space song was the first track ever I heard from Hara gobi. I immediately fell

in love with the

sound of it. Then, I almost instantly bought his first album (turned out to be

quite crappy,

only few good songs), followed by this new album about a month later. I have

been listening this

now for a couple of months, and I have noticed one interesting thing - this guy

has unique sound.

Normally it would be good, but Hara gobi's sound is somehow "childish",

immature... dunno why I feel

that way. There's nothing wrong with the tracks though. Most of them work ok on

dancefloor, and some

of them even blow your mind. Somehow this stuff just gets *extremely* boring

very soon. Anyways, now

to the point - review of this album. *1* Space song is probly the best track on

this album, it presents

typical Hara brakes and builds, very fast and short kicking accomppanied with

crashes. This track is

very groovy, and is perfect for some time, but after like 10 listens you get

bored, at the latest,

(9/10). *2* Freaks is also a good track. I don't find it very good in a

dancegroovy way, but I'm

sure many people will. It has nice feeling and is one of the least boring

tracks here. (8/10).

*3* Heart of gold starts off with subtle melody. And keeps basic groove for

most of the track.

After this break at around 4:30 the track starts to flow nicely because of this

filtered

but simple melody which kicks in. (7.5/10) *4* Sound of another world starts

with submarine sonar pulses,

but then introduces one of the lamest melodies ever, thankfully it lasts only

for like 15 secs...

until it is brought back again later on for like 1 minute! It's far worse than

typical mainstream eurocrap

melody. Despite this awful melody this is very good track. I have to give

(8/10), cause this melody

doesn't bother that much after all... *5* Get lost is ok track, it starts with

303 melody, which

seems to be pretty popular in general with Mr. Dilge. Later on it follows this

typical pattern, basic

banging for most of the time, and then some simple but good melody used few

times in sections of

30sec to one minute, this isn't an exception (7/10). *6* Happy hour starts with

nice acidic bassline,

which lacks spirit though. But wobbles quite nicely. After 1:30 quite gay

melody comes in. Around

4 minutes there's pretty thorough break, and then the track like starts over,

nothing is different,

but fortunate enough, Manfred has come up with quite ok sounding melody and

that saves this track

being *very* boring (7/10) for this too. *7* Head banger, here we have a good

track, nominant for

the best track of the album along with Space song. It uses booming squares

panning all around for the

first half of the track, after 4 minutes there is pleasant surprise... guitars

are used, and very well

indeed. Some might say it sounds gay, but there's no way around it, those

guitars are simply driving.

If you don't wanna dance to this sound, you're listening wrong music. Albeit

before 7 minutes, we have

a good break, then guitars come back with even stronger riffs. Don't expect any

Dark Soho style

evil guitars with gothic atmospheres, just plain boom boom BOOOM! (9/10). *8*

Coconut walla is totally

fag track, can't help it. It kinda tries to be reggae on some point, but I

dunno.... as I'm not

reggae fan I don't know whether it succeeds even a little bit or fails

terribly. This album would have

been better without this track, maybe some faster track as replacement would

have worked fine. Sucky

track, simple as that. I don't wanna hear it ever again. It makes you laugh for

a while though,

it's so pathetic ;) (2/10) for that. All tracks have bpm around 143-145,

excluding Coconut walla,

which is what it is... something... anyways, compared to first album this is

progress. Sound is

about the same, but we have more good tracks. First album only had two good

ones as I recall... Holi

live and Recharge, but now we have like 6 more tracks of that style. Average

album, nothing life

changing, but some good dancefloor tracks. (7.5/10 total!!!) Bom!

One quick look at the cartoony sleeve says it all; not to be taken seriously.

"Music is the drug" is simply a parody on old skool Isratrance (1995-1997),

done by some German joker...Still, Hara Gobi manages to remain quite faithful

to the early Astral Projection sound, however expect no quality trax like

Kabalah or People Can Fly inhere...This is average central at best and crappy

at worst. If you want a healthy smile give this a spin, if serious quality old

skool is your thing then opt for the Israeli Retro compil, Ra or Electron Wave

instead...6/10

Very musical album, much more so than Electron Wave which is more

minimal-melodic, but FAR from the masterpiece of Ra. Sounds more like

progressive trance to me. 7/10

I like this CD. It is really good in my opinion. I don't posses too much music

in this style, and have found that it works well when mixing. I don't think I

could listen from beginning to end, but it does have quality tracks. How can

you not like Headbanger?? Good track.

Space Song is definetly one of that songs that we hear once and we'll never

forget it.

Hara Gobi has so much good things, I find it really anoying that sometimes his

music is ruined by some Ibiza style samples that just make me go MAD!!!Please

stop doing that!lol

Just to say that I really love Coconut walla, it's a very peaceful song with

great vibes ; very mind blowing but of course it's not a full on dancefloor

track, I find it convenient to end the album in a very soft manner, I often

use it in the end of my sets to take people back to reality. (It's even better

when you hear it after several hours of intense brain blasting trance)
