Trance2MoveU
Oh, I really liked this one! Especially since I am enamored with the grandeur and mystery of mountains. I can get the Himalayan feel right out of the gate with peaks that reach skyward with snow capped apexes, and a sense of being a stranger as I arrive at base camp. It's rather warm as I swat the flies from my brow. Farmers ply their trade as children scurry across the path. It seems an odd peace here, as I know that as I ascend Mount Kailish difficult times are ahead. As if on cue, a storm rolls in but I cannot delay any longer. The pace is slow, but steady. The storm passes and the brightness of the sun gives me courage. Making good time, I decide to rest and unleash the powers of the magic herb so that I can see. Light beams carry visions of mountain vistas as far as the eye can see. Mountain goats and big horn sheep climb the slopes with no effort. After several minutes (although it felt like hours) I sense the presence at the top and it strengthens my resolve. I take a quick meal of bread and cheese and continue the journey. Nourished, I no longer seem to touch the ground. My steps are light and I glide across the barely there trails. And then I see it. The structure is impossibly massive. And equally ancient. The air is clean here, almost bitingly clean. Struggling for breath, I see runes written along the gate, in a language I can not possibly know. As the temperature falls, I make my way past the gate and am met by a creature 12 feet tall with white fur covering his entire body. I tense, ready for attack, but realize this is what I seek. He is truly impressive, but what is really amazing are his eyes. A thousand lifetimes have been lived, with the experience and wisdom that come with it. He ushers me towards a spiraling staircase that is incredibly tortuous. 100 steps, 500, 1000. As we climb ever higher, I am treated to more snow capped peaks. Creatures that cannot possibly exist fly deftly by on pink wind currents. I taste the scent of jasmine ripe on the air. We are impossibly high and I begin to wonder if this journey will ever end. As we finally reach the summit, he escorts me to a dais with a myriad of pools inset into the structure. Each a different color. Blue, red, green, yellow...We sit across from one another and the Yeti sprinkles matching powders into each pool, causing smoke of the same hue to emanate forth. I feel light headed, but I see with a clarity I have never known. Soon we are joined by beings that are humanoid in form, and they speak without talking. They tilt their heads, eyes boring into my very soul. They seem to be able to grab the smoke, manipulate it into shapes, giving me a window into my world. I see hordes of the dead, victims of some massacre. Men, women and children, it doesn't matter how old. As each soul falls, there is an impossible shadow, floating in an ethereal plane, lovingly reaching for the fallen human. They are not there to torment, but to guide, to bring them to this other plane. The next vision I see is otherworldly. A bridge impossibly long and high traversing an ocean so aquamarine, you would think it was as if topaz stones fell from the sky for a millenia. The souls march happily through a massive stone gate as the sun sits low in the horizon. I am looking from above, but soaring towards the people, with great speed. As I feel I am to surely collide, I now have the perspective of one walking that long beautiful promenade. As I turn to look back, the Yeti bows and makes his way back down the stairs. Wow, what a great ride this CD was. Mdk

Jim Rockford
Can anyone tell me a bit more about the ending of this first track (The Call/The Journey), specifically the haunting violin sounding piece? For a long while I've been wondering where this particular sound came from. I thought it might've been some sample of south Indian music, or perhaps Persian, but an Indian friend of mine who has knowledge of classical music assured me that this wasn't of Indian origin. He also had trouble identifying the instrument and said he didn't think it was a violin. Was this sound lifted from elsewhere or was it the creation of Raja or Simon? Anyone have a clue about it? Much thanks, Jim The Call/The Journey It starts off cold with the sound of the wind blowing outside & hard dark jabs of sound with a low primal wail like some electronic beast which briefly morphs into a shaman's songs at times. All of a sudden it comes alive with bird song & some tribal chanting. A tribe is celebrating but it's interrupted by more familiar sounds. A Frenchman, a dog, a cow change the chant! Moving on is a new chant sung by children it seems with a nice little melody in the background. This track takes many different turns throughout, next is very watery like on a shore with tribesmen playing drums in the water, a nice wet beat with lots of shouting. But we pass that into another tribe which we pass & we're into a pack of feral wolves & strange animals flying around our heads. Among these creatures come ethereal voices coming from the darkness that whisper their intent before a storm hits bringing a god's wrath & an almost tuneless melody. It's an incoherent track, but it's a journey along the river passing many different things. Despite it's incoherence it sets a dark expectant mood. A very nice piece of ambience. Gandza
On the 1st song (Part A: The Call) around the end of the 3rd minute there is (to be more precise at 3:45) a chant/song which is used as a sample. I am trying to identify it, but I cannot find some reliable source on the world wide web. Namely, we have the same pattern used in Macedonian Pop Song. (It is on 01m:18s) Thanks! btw... Great album!
