Review:

This is a thrilling chillout album. It represents several years of

collaboration and tweaking and it works wonderfully. The album opens with a

gentle delicacy that really gets the mind watering, and continues through

many avenues of dub and hypnotic rythms. It is somewhat less Posfordised

than Celtic Cross in that only Magnetica has his unmistakeable signature

stamped on it. In fact it would seem that this really is Youth's baby, and a

beauty it is too. Greg Hunter adds an enormous amount to the production

quality of this album - coming from the Orb, Subsurfing (- GET Frozen Ants

or forever be sorry!!) and most recently Alien Soap Opera. His particular

flavour shows through especially in Concrete Tourist- a dub lined groover,

and Return of the Native - a tribal/hispanic treat. Each tune has a definite

flavour, and I admit that they are not so immediately earcatching as, say,

Shpongle, but there's plenty there to involve even the most discerning

ambient lover. Not every tune stands out enough to be heard in the best

chillout mixes but overall a superb quality. Don't expect Shpongle or Celtic

Cross - but do enjoy ! 8/10

A masterpiece! To me, this IS indeed up there with the Shpongle and Celtic

Cross albums! Incredibly floaty, spaced out sounds and nice rhythms. Plenty of

weirdness and moments of sheer beauty! Marvellous! Simply unbelievable, and

yet the unbelievable is playing on my stereo right now... Plur - Psylent Buddhi

I really like this! Lovely music! Earcandy! I really, really like the track

that Simon Posford did. But I can't explain my feelings better than Psylent

already has, so I'll just end this by rating it. 10/10! No doubt about it!

Plur!

If the new album of the ORB (-Cydonia-) would be half as good as this, they

would be back on top like 10 years ago. In fact, this is the best album that

the ORB has never released.

This "MORE BASS THAN SPACE" dubbed ambient is definately the best chillout

stuff released this year. Full credits to the production team as the sound is

crystal clear, to the musicians (real drums, bass, flutes e.g.) as the

soundscapes are overwhelmingly beatiful and to Dragonfly for releasing their

best album since 1995's Mystical Experience of The Infinity Project.

9.5/10!

Sorry, for not having the facts right. I saw The Infinity Project listed as

Dragonfly artists on their website so I thought their albums had been released

on Dragonfly too.

But the rhetoric stays the same: EXCELLENT ALBUM...

I think I should reiterate that most of the production of this album was in

the capable hands of Greg Hunter, who also produced the best Orb tunes ......

the link is not as surpsising as Infiniti500 may have thought

I wish I knew this was Orb-ish before I bought it. If I wanted to listen to

what might as well be the Orb again, I wouldn't have throw away the few Orb

albums I once owned. 5/10

This is incredible! A++ chillout material. This is much

better than some of the reviews make it out to be.

Deliciate, hypoinotic, groovy, good samples and

production...and wicked dub-a-dub-dub basslines.

I like this BETTER than Hicksville or Yeti.

Some of these tracks desreve to go on the best chillout comps.

After hearing the final store copy of the ORB's CYDONIA I can safely say that

this beats the godfathers of ambient dub hands down. Well worth your money and

time if U are into Psychedelic ambient. 9/10

i didnt even know this existed and i bought it solely on the recommendations

above..and i can truly say im not dissapointed!...floaty spacey trance with

serious dub roots..kinda like the `Yeti` albums but slightly more minimal..but

very beautiful and expertly handcrafted to delirious perfection...if you like

ambient youd be mad to miss out! 9.5/10 =^,^=

Fantastic.........Really eclectic dub/ambient/trip hop somewhere in

Shpongle-land. I really like the use of acoustic/string instruments here. As a

bass player I could play the basslines on my bass. The best ambient release of

2000. 10/10 Pure delightment.

Peace out.

Very Orbish indeed but the basslines are more dominating which is good because

it makes a certain groove, especially on Butterfly Trilogy that is a really

beautiful journey through space and time. Not as easy to love as Shpongle but

deeper and has more sounds and nice little details put there(more sampler,

less synths). Pretty progressive stuff too, I mean in the progressive rock

style, not some progressive trance...Highlights are Butterfly Trilogy,

Magnetica(very touching melodies, I wonder whether they're by Youth or Simon

Posford), Concrete Tourist(that huge bass is so funky) and well, all the songs

are great...Get it. A great dubby journey. -Clargoa

this is fantastic! A very tasteful, dreamy chillout

journey with no bad tracks! this is absolutely top notch,

super good stuff. beautiful textures, quiet samples,

and silky sexy 3 dimensional sounds and soundpictures.

Better than than Saffi Bros. "Mystic Cigarettes" but not quite as good as "Are

you Shpongled?". Absolutely BUY IT! 9.5/10

I don't think this competes with anything except it's own issues. First off,

the quality of this album isn't great. I listened to this album on my Grado

SR325 headphones, along with my Odyssey Stratos amp, Alchemist CD transport,

DAC, and Anthem Pre2L. All I could hear were over-distorted basslines and

samples, with hiss all the way through the tracks. What the hell? It was

very annoying and certainly didn't compliment the music. I also thought that

this CD had much less direction than other good productions, as the tracks

don't seem to follow any logical path... no ebb and flow. All in all, this

album was very dissapointing. Be wary of all the great reviews above --

although technically this album is complex, it's just not that musical. 5/10

maybe it´s a bit shpongelish because it´s Celtic Cross (Simon + a few others)

and one guy from the Orb that stand´s behind the name Dub Trees :)

just a guess...

not comparable to shpongle, imo. this is DUB. meaning the predominant sound i

hear is those characteristic low basslines, which for me get old after a

while. nevertheless, good to chill to... 8/10.

love this cd, listened to it incessantly. unfortunately, it, with most of my

other cds, was stolen out of my car while in New Orleans for Mardi Gras a few

weeks back. Looking to replace it but dragonfly records(where I bought it the

first time) has none available. Does anyone want to be a saint an burn a copy

and send it to me? I'm in the states.
