Ooze : Experimental Mud In The Dub Corner 02. Anesthesia : Blue Aurea 03. Depth Klang : Pre Phase 04. DPOD : Butter Echte 05. Eric Elser : Night Surfer 06. Depth Klang : Sub Tuner 07. Jules Verne : Marianne 08. Tripple Game : Soho 09. Leif Hatfield : Light (Electric Mix) Review: Well, here is something you don't see very often (and never before in this case), an ambient release from Iboga. This came as quite a surprise and lucky me I was able hear the whole album today. To start the compilation, Ooze (1) opens up with a really beautiful, quiet and deep floating track, that develops very relaxing, while bass pounds nicely and sounds appear to disappear. It's a bit different from what you hear on his album, but I find it much better. A great opening for the comp, especially with such a unique track, that the Ooze one is. Anesthesia (2) is next, and the track quickly takes you in. It's very floating and hypnotic, and it has a great sense of calm to it. Some high cloud sounding noises waves back and forth. Steady sound beat continues, until a more dark sound takes over. Great track. Depth Klang (3), which is featured two times on the comp, starts very good. A great wood like tribal atmosphere surrounds their track, and it's very relaxing and chilled. Haven't heard anything from these guys before, but this is really good. It's just my kind of style, and the track develops great, while it never looses ground. I'd like to hear this at an outdoor party loud. D.P.O.D (4) breaks in with a very mystic track. It has some very hypnotic sounds that come and go and it works amazing. A nice beat in a nice laid-back track, that still feels huge. It's a pretty lengthy track, but not a problem at all. Pioneer Eric Elser (5) comes next, with a faster track and a nightly feeling surrounds it. It starts pretty quickly, and a real bass soon invades you. Some confused sound fly about, and a cool sample, talking about a liftoff, turns your heard around too. Depth Klang (6) again, and the start sounds like your in a circus, but luckily it dies out, because I'm not really a circus fan ;-) The track really starts when a voice comes in, and small sounds starts to build up the track; again they manage to create a really nice outdoor atmosphere. The track develops great, and as seconds past, you are sucked in. It's a very slow track with a few scary elements, and it reminds me a bit of a swamp -Not that its my common place of being :-) Jules Verne (7) is next up, and his track seems to be named after a girl, so this should be interesting. The track has a very deep pounding bass, and a rusty voice opens it up, it's very changing and experimental. Seems a bit tribal, and lots of different noises are used. It's really great. Some nice rhythmic sounds appear and changes. "Does anybody remember how they got here?" Isn't that from the movie "The Cube"? Lots of samples from the movie come up, if it's really from there, but I am pretty sure it is -It's very thrilling and suddenly it just ends. Great fucking track! Tripple Game (8) bangs in, with a very noisy track, that really kicks arse. Some really nice rhythm appears throughout the track. It's very changing and probably not everyone's taste. Ends sort of suddenly too. Never the less, Leif Hatfield (9) ends this wonderful and amazing compilation. His track starts with sad sounds forming a nice rhythm. A very quiet track, that floats wisely, with nice crafted sounds. The End! This is really good work from Iboga, and kodus to the artists! It proves that they can do just about anything. I'd prefer this over much other ambient, but that's probably my taste, which I know others will welcome too. They kept their minimal roots, and the tryptamin sound. ;-) 9.5/
bomble
A very solid compilation of electronically flavoured beats. Highlights are Ooze, Eric Elser, Jules Verne & Tripplegame. Not absolutely essential, but well worthwhile if you are a fan of chillout material. 7/10 bomble
Guest Defbydelta...
Many good quality artist like always from IBOGA. This is a good compil that is worth every single penny... 9/
Guest [Anonymous]
o.k., nothing truly mind-expanding, though. I listened to the compil many times from start to finish and nothing really popped out at me. I'd recommend this as background music for another activity. 7/10. Guest vortexian
I dont know what to say about this... Im a huge fan of psyambient and only the Depth Klang tracks stood out as something Id want to play at a party. That's not to say this isnt a good release, but i guess I have particular tastes that weren't met. I would say this isn't light fluffy friendly ambient.... its slightly darker and rustier, with the occasional ethnic influence - almost every song has a point where my interest is really piqued, but it doesn't weigh out to playing the song. My verdict - I'll put it aside and listen again some other time - it may grow on me yet
Guest Acidhive
Great stuff. Took me a little time to sink into, but once I did, I was hooked. It's a wonderful collection of electronic music, so don't immediately classify this as psytrance/ambient, that's a common mistake with this release. Anyhow, every track has a little something special about it. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the dnb like excursion from Eric Elser (Amphasis), who normally breeds these really minimalistic tracks. This one however is a fluffy dnb track, with lots of melody. Also surprised to see that Jakob Olsen (Lurifax) delivers a really good track here with his alter ego Jules Verne. Marianne is a track loaded with samples from the movie 'Cube'. It starts really cool with some old record playing, and then it starts. This track is never the same however, it does not have a straight section of melody returning or something. Still, great stuff. And without going into too much detail about the rest of the tracks: Let me just say this rules! I found all the tracks to be just right.. 9/10 here for this compilation, and believe me, sink into this, it's worth it!!
