Guest Stormbringer
Midi Miliz - Nut / Info Artist: Midi Miliz Title: Nut / Info Label: D-Drum Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Nut 02. Info Review: This is the second release from D.DRUM and this EP sounds very similar to the album "Antistat" also released on D.DRUM. "Nüt" (5/10) sounded so similar to the track "Antistat" when I first heard it that I had to compare the two tracks to be sure that they were two different tracks :-) This is monotonous minimal trance in the borderland to techno and the rhythm is the crusial thing here. Don´t expect some advanced melodies because there aren´t any. "Info" (6/10) is another technoinfluenced track that easily could have been released on a technolabel instead. I consider this EP to be one of the weakest from Arne and Wayan but if you´re a die-hard fan of the album "Antistat" then you´ll just have to get this EP to. Guest kzi
achtung! very german... is there really some long-azz incomprehensible speech in 'info'?
Guest MK
Maybe the reason this EP sounds similair to the album "Antistat" is bcoz 'Nut' is from the album & 'Info' was made at the same time. 2 great trax, both were released about a year ago, which makes them sound a little dated compared to their newer releases (check out 'No Exit')-------Arne and Wayan produce a heavy funky sound, which still shakes it in all the right ways. 8/
Guest marty
I'm suprised u found this track so similair to the track 'Antistat' that u needed to listen to it again, they r pretty different from start to finish.
Guest Arthur
INFO is just amazing WOW, but I agree with Stromberg they should have released it on a techno label instead not everyone in our scene understand this kind of music... 8/
Guest col_klink3[at]hotmail[dot]com
Nut blew me away on my first couple listenings, but quickly wore off. I think it was the production at first that got me: that really gritty, and almost wet kind of feel that carries an amazing power behind it. I can get into that sure, but the song doesn't really progess enough to warrant repeated, and obsessive listening. Info excites me more however, and it's funky tribal percussion really rocks with that kind of wet, squishy bleepy sound: I heard this on a dancefloor recently, and when I found myself expressing it with such amazingly intense and interesting movement, I remembered why this track is just so freakin' awesome. That german at the end of it too (and I don't understand a word of it) is a really cool way to end it for me, I like to let the sounds bounce their way through my ears... 6.5/10 for Nut, 8.5 for info! Midi Miliz continue to impress and excite!
Guest Stormbringer
To MK: I only got the vinyl edition of the album and I didn´t know that Nüt was on the CD edition (but I know now!).
voomzap
Dark enough to get the floor somewhere else. There is nothing to understand - flow down deep
