Guest Satguru
Eargear - Panatlantic Artist: Eargear Title: Panatlantic Label: Hadshot Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Like Music 02. Monstermagnetomatrix 03. Manage 04. Whissle Warp 05. O Ton 06. Trancehousexpress 07. The Monday Manga 08. Bum Bum Chicks 09. Mechito Review: Now this one is for the progressive and minimal lovers. It's absolutely groovy, influenced by progressive house beats covered with driving riffs which come in dark & heavy and are kind of industrial-style. The production is done alright, sounds very clear and has good dynamics. Let's dive into the tunes (EP contains only 6): 1. 136 bpm, cold atmosphere emerging out of dark percussion which hits you like lashes and the above-mentioned metallic riff. A nice lady's voice creates good contrast, and in the middle of the song a sad synth melody arises and stays there until the end. A lot of repetion in this song, but still very interesting and OK for dancing to. 2. 138 - scratchy noises on a riding beat, scary synth-sounds later on, scary noises, good use of panorama - all in all it's quite a dark one but it lacks of changes. 3.136 bpm. Pumping house-beat, quite hypnotic. In the break, again, there's a quiet, depressing - even nihilistic - melody. 4. 132 bpm. Midi Miliz style, dark tech-trance from the beginning. Very minimal, very repetitive. Later on, the morbid drum loop meets an absolutely artificial-whistling melody which goes on & gets boring. Nothing spectacular or unexpected happens. 6. 134 bpm. this one is hard for me to listen to at home, only when I have a strong urge for dancing ;~) this track is quite a killer: deep, but with shaking and mean percussions, monotonous, but never boring. Best track on this album! 7. 136. Shaking percussion, again, on a deep bassline (still less brutal than other tracks here), with funky-electro-noises and a little growling in the background. Later on a girlie-voice appears which sounds like sampled out of a horrormovie. suitable for the dancefloor. A very unusual kind of style of psy, many people won't even call it psy. Maybe deep tech-house. But, however, it shakes ass and i give it 9/10.
Guest Satguru
Alright, I had to listen to the other 3 as well, and they are not that bad (no. 5 + 8 would be nice to have on vinyl!) 5. Slow (133), dark and with a megaphone-voice (like Beastie Boys), constant and progressing beat. 8. Pretty good electro-riff (and electro-growling) on a groovy beat-salad @ 137 bpm, quite innovative, enough changes happen here. Should be fine for dancing. 9. This goes over 10 min, somehow more monotony than the other 2, but still good progression. A childish but trance-inducing melody goes along most of the time. Although it's the worst of these 3, it's still worth listening.
