Guest Rx7style
Beat Bizarre - Pop The Question / Swallow Artist: Beat Bizarre Title: Pop The Question / Swallow Label: TIP World Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Pop The Question 02. Swallow Review: I've never really listened to anything else from this group, and it's not likely that I will in the future either. The first track "Pop The Question" really leaves much to be desired... Annoyingly, it’s only a very simple repeating bass line and bass tone that’s a mindless two notes separated by 1 octave, and I couldn’t detect any change in the redundant beats whatsoever – only 1 break!!! Layered overtop of that are just many strange "psychedelic" sounds with not much coherency. There's little variation at all, and absolutely nothing about this track would entice me to spin it within a set. The second track, “Swallow” is much better, however it too is fraught with an unchanging beat succession as well! The relentless and unchanging pounding only recedes for about 30 seconds during the track and then starts right back in again. I guess this is alright for a dance floor, but people can dance to more complicated rhythms and patterns. The psychedelia that circumnavigates the rest of the track seems to have been more carefully constructed, as there’s more logical progression and development. Although there once again are the unchanging octave separated bass tones, you don’t notice them as much because of the more convincing story that develops in the primary refrain. So the first track gets a modest 4/10 and the second track a 5.5/10. Unless you find something special within these tracks, I definitely wouldn’t recommend them. Guest Nois
After the brilliant album, Lewd, these tracks are really disappointing... Maybe that change in style in quality is because of the label the tracks were recorded for? Good thing is that the (quite) new Beat Bizarre track on Ibogas Cross-Link is all right... Still waiting for new tracks from the danish guys.
Guest Shiva7
that line by Rx7style "people can dance to more complicated rhythms and patterns" you all should insert this line into your f*king mind ! I exhausted of those simple tracks ! great review Rx7style ! I agree with anything you said about these EPs.. Beat bizarre have very nice sound , but also very simple which make it uninteresting ! they may have a future if they will work hard to get people good substance ! I won't even rate it since there is nothing to examine.;;; lets say ;just another full on..
Guest Mescalinium
A very solid outing, imo, from this awesome danish duo, though, as other people have commented above, not quite up to par with their last album. I personally enjoy both tracks, I slightly prefer Swallow, although I think Pop the Question would work better on the dancefloor. Certainly not as dissappointing as their track Interlude on Into the Parkness. Still looking forward to future songs from these guys. 7/
Guest Psydark Light
there is nothing to enlarge ,I think ."just another full on" is the exact description for these tracks. its should be psychedelic music not just full! Beat Bizarre,I know you are talents , show me that !
