Children
V/A - Psychoactive Scandosounds 2 Artist: Various Title: Psychoactive Scandosounds 2 Label: BooM! Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 09'34" Battle Of The Future Buddhas : Noisy Matter 02. 09'18" LAB : Trippin Trolls 03. 08'05" Subcouds : Happy Motors Swinging 04. 07'19" Battle Of The Future Buddhas : Adrenachrome 05. 07'52" Logic Bomb : Melogic 06. 09'26" Hux Flux : Logarhythmic 07. 09'40" Vibrasphere : Roadtrain (Battlemix) 08. 09'15" Fluffy Puppy : Superclay 09. 06'50" Twister : Venom Review: Pretty Good comp ! A VERY psychedelic one (except Track 9, more melodic), in the usual BOTFB And Hux Flux/Logic Bomb style ! Even Subcouds Track is very psychedelic And not that much melodic ! Usually I don't like when there aren't many melodies, but these Tracks are really well built ! My favourites are Tracks 1,2,5,6&9 but I don't like Tracks 4&7 that much ... To conclude, I'd like to say that if you like Hux Flux / BOTFB style you should NOT hesitate to buy this comp (cause I didn't really like BOTFB And Hux Flux albums but the Tracks I mentionned are much better stuff for me ... however I'm not very fond of the Scandinavian style), but if you don't know them you should listen to the comp before buying it ... lurk
IMHO this is a very good compilation; Boom Records is going from strength to strength at the moment. What is great about this cd is the variety it contains, there is a track here for all occasions, from the screaming darkness of HuxFlux, to the gorgeous, almost retro, melodies of Twister. All the tracks deserve some sort of mention because they are original, interesting a well produced, but the stand-out ones for me are the Subcouds, which has a brilliant creeping, whispering melody that sweeps you along; BotFB with Andrenachrome (trainspotter's corner : this is the name of the legendary drug taken from a human adrenaline gland, which is mentioned in H S Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) is a stomping night time track with excellent Homer Simpson samples; the Logic Bomb track also stands out with its good sample and uplifting (but certainly not cheesy) melody. Children, i think giving a compilation 6/10 because 2 of the tracks don't have any melodies is a subjective piece of reviewing :-) For me this is one of the top 4 or 5 compilation releases of the year, its definitely worth checking out, 8.75/10 ;-) no ikea trance here. Guest Cnt97
This is a GOOD compilation! Trippin' Trolls is the best track.. REALLY "undergroundish-Swedish-forest-scando-sound". My legs and arms can't be still ... Btw, comparing Battle of the Future buddhas with Hux Flux is like comparing Infected Mushroom with Spirallianz The Hux Flux sound is more monoton, dark. BOTFB makes melodious stuff, more "happy" stuff. 9.5/10 for LAB's track!.. 7.5/10 for the compilation. The last track is just a LAME track.. The melody is ripped from another VERY known goatrance song (you should know which one)...
Guest kife[at]alphatrance[dot]org
i thought it was pretty weak, actually... only three tracks that grabbed me instantly - L.A.B. (1/2 of Vibrasphere, in case you didn't know!), Subcouds, and Logic Bomb... everything else is pretty much same old 145+ bpm goa trance sound... sonically overloaded melodic assault. the last track is a total flop. Guest dano[at]dds[dot]nl
Loved it ! It seems as if every new Boom! records' is twice as good as the previous one. Can't wait to lay my hands on their next release Electric Ohms... Trippin Trolls and Adrenachrome are my favorites on this compil. Everyone should have a copy of this one in their collection, even if it's because it's one of the few compils at the moment which has MELODIES on it. Well done Booms! 8.5/

"everything else is pretty much same old 145+ bpm goa trance sound... sonically overloaded melodic assault. the last track is a total flop." - there's nothing wrong with that sound, though. I agree about the last track, but over all this is a good comp, especially for lab and logic bomb tracks. I would give it 6 out of 10 if you were expecting typical swedish trance (zzzzz...), 8 out of 10 if you like more rich sounds...

survey1
This was my first bought in psytrance scene and for sure one of the best ones. 1-This track is very weird but after a few listenings is gets kinda funny to listen to. 2-This one is a bomb with that metallic snares that give a very good rythm to the track, and that melody in the middle, OMG, so fuckin good 3-This one is a more serious track with that kinda "motor" melodies swinging around the space up and down. 4- I didnt like too much this track at the begining, but now its one of the best ones for me. Very fast pace, with funny Homer Simpson voice samples. 5-Very good melodies in this one, Logic Bomb style at its best. Very good track. Maybe a little more dark than usual from them. 6-Hux Flux never disapoints me ans this track is no exception. Very well structured, one of their best ones after Degauss 7-This is the BOMB track of this compilation for me, very dark, but very catchy too, maybe a bit too long and very progressive, but the best one for me, ohhh that train samples are amazing. 8-This one is just funny, nothing more, its a bit the same all the track long. 9-Dont like this one, too much melodic and confusing. Overall: Althought its an old VA, i think this is a must for all lovers of good psy music. It has lots of imagination and creativity spread all over the tracks, with exception of the last two. Favourites: 2,3,4,6 and 7 Give it 8.5/
Sideffect...
Various - Psychoactive Scandosounds 2 - (2000) This release is highly recommended. Melodic psychedelic trance at it's best. But not the typical melodic psychedelic trance as many releases this year. Twisted it is! A lot of great artist are represented here like Logic Bomb, Battle of the future Buddhas, Hux flux, Subcouds. Each track is good and has it's own character. I love the fact that it's not morning although this experiences as one layer trance. Besides the last track all tunes are put very gentle and go one after not another, not crossing each other's path. The combination of psychedelic and melodic is huge. Often it's one direction, or another but in this compilation it's both and that's what makes it so special. It's good approachable for people that like goatrance although it is not. Something different as the mainstream psychedelic trance and an absolute gain to the entire psytrance movement.
