Guest Phaeton
V/A - Psychoactive Scandosounds 3 Artist: Various Title: Psychoactive Scandosounds 3 Label: BooM! Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 07'48" Logic Bomb : Earth Orbit (Original) 02. 08'08" LAB : Red Light 03. 09'34" Weirdo Beardo : The Claw 04. 08'56" Phat Phase : Mermaid Marmalade 05. 06'49" Spliff Richard : Funny Funk 06. 08'30" Battle Of The Future Buddhas : Sly 07. 07'42" Procs : Split Personality 08. 07'05" Tellus 2 : Forward Observer 09. 08'52" Celestial : I Want More Life Review: Probably the least good compilation in the Scandosounds series so far, but it's still worth a listen. A lot of tunes on this CD do sound a bit like old leftover material to me though. The original "Earth Orbit" is one of these tunes that sound really old, it isn't half as good as the remix released on Electric Ohms, but it's still a Logic Bomb tune so it might be interesting for the die-hard collectors. L.A.B. provides us a tune that is somewhat darker and less catchy than the stuff they've released before and it's a nice track although I think it could have been somewhat more energetic. "The Claw" is one of my favourite Weirdo Beardo tunes, it's not as weird as some of his other work, instead it is a great stompin' acid frenzy with vocal samples that sound both funny and disturbing. Next is an energetic tune by pHat pHase that sounds a bit more progressive than the other tunes on this compilation, it's full of cool sounds but unfortunately the production doesn't sound very 'pHat' which I personally think is a must-be for progressive stuff. "Funny Funk" by Spliff Richard is something that was simply bound to happen after so many good tunes with samples from The Simpsons, it's a tune filled with Homer Simpson samples and it is completely stupid. It is neither funny nor musically interesting and it sounds very muddy; worst track on the compilation for me. Then we get "Sly" by the Battle Buddhas which was already released on Schlabbaduerst in 2000, and it's a great track. It has that typical spooky outdoor party vibe, filled with crazy haunting melodies and sounds. Procs's tune sounds pretty twisted and tripped out which I usually like but I don't think it's very good, it gets ruined (again) by stupid vocals and it simply doesn't sound like it's going anywhere or is building towards any kind of climax. 'Forward Observer' by Tellus 2 starts promising again but this time it gets devastated by a melody that might have fitted a bad TV series from the eighties but definitely not a psytrance tune. The last tune is a badly produced old school track with some breakbeat samples and it's highly forgettable. I can't recommend this compilation as a whole as there are quite a few tracks on it that really get on my nerves if I don't skip them, but several tracks on it are still good enough to justify the buy. 6/

Guest Freaky Bob
At a time when you think that things couldn‚t get more twisted in the world of psychedelic trance, the Boom! posse once again step in and prove us wrong. Scandosounds 3 is the latest slice of all that is weird and wonderful within the psychedelic realm of the Vikings. Reading through the track list we see that the old established stable mates Logic Bomb, LAB and BOTFB jostle with newcomers like Tellus 2 and Celestial to bring us cutting edge tunes that not only further define the digital sounds of the future but at the same time devoutly maintain an age-old cultural identity. lurk
It is the weakest of the 3 so far, but the other 2 have been very strong. I disagree with phaeton on 2 points, first, the Logic Bomb does not sound "really old", it doesn't sound like their new stuff either, its much more twisted than that, which imho is a good thing. Second, there is nothing wrong with the production on the phat phase, its a dirty, funky groover of a track which goes down very well on the dancefloor. These two tracks and the BOTFB and the Weirdo Beardo are the highlights. The Spliff Richard and the Celestial are the 2 let downs.
Guest boom[at]boomrecords[dot]com
Thanks for your input folks ;-) I have to admit, I had enormous problems programming this compilation ..... as you all know, BooM! records strives to bring you the best in hard, melodic and playful trance from around the globe. Even after listening to hundreds of hours of scandinavian demos, we were having a lot of difficulty finding tracks of a sufficient quality to include. Personally, the mainstream Scando artists just dont do it for me : Tegma, Son-Kite, Ticon etc etc may have good production quality, but there is no story to the tracks and the progressive sound bores me senseless. For this reason, several "older" tracks have been included by our favourite artists, and several by younger new artists who still know what the good vibe is all about. So shoot me ! If anyone has suggestions of artists that fit in with our label style from Scandinavia who they feel should be included on Scando 4, feel free to mail me. If the quality of tracks on offer doesnt improve drastically in the coming year, there might never be a part 4 ;-)

Guest jst[at]sdcswedenNOSPAM[dot]se
"Procs - Split personality" is defenatly my favorite from this album. I love those screaming sounds in the beginning and then later (1.55) the breathing sounds. Even though i mostly dont like samples in songs i like this one, but im swedish so i understand what he says Unfortunatly i didnt like Logic bomb at all, but they arent really what i like to begin with. Not much more to say...
Guest sisne
Very mixed album: I think Weirdo Beardo (very good(!)production for such an old track), Logic Bomb, Procs has the best tracks on this album. Last track is not good at all IMHO (very bad produced and cheesy melodies). Spliff Richard's track is actually pretty funny - music doesn't have to be so serious all the time! Thank you Boom Records for giving out different stuff than all the other labels release! 9/10 for the good tracks and 2/10 for the bad tracks: I rate it 6/
freak51
infinafta: whoops! My mistake - they release on a Canadian label though (Boshke Beats). Canucks write quite a bit of top-shelf quality collage-style minimal techno; psy-trance never really caught on in a big way (but the parties are good, as they are everywhere). Enough of me talking already. I'm still trying to find this comp.
Guest Smarthowie
hi everyone! I had heard this album sucked, but when a friend of mine bought it, I thought I could make up my own thoughts! And as I expected, it wasn`t so bad after all.... Not the best comp. I have heard of course, but it isn`t the worse either..! I like track nr 8(!), a good one with a little darker twist and nice bassline, and track nr 2&3 is also pretty good...I give it 6.5/10!! *pEAcE*
